Do It Again

Two great days and nights of hoops, two Gheorghe posts with prodigious comments sections. It's the most wonderful time of the year, so let's run it back once again today.

Do It Again... a number of rock and roll songs with this title have been written and recorded. The G:TB reader's survey poll results are in:

#3 - The Beach Boys

#2 - The Kinks

and the #1 . . . Yacht Rock's own Steely Dan

If you're hung over (and you should be), this is just surreal and mesmerizing. Enjoy.

And now back to basketball commentary . . .

Lacedarius...not even remotely a name.

In their heyday, Steely Dan was known for three things:

1. Dark Sarcastic Lyrics

2. Studio perfectionism

3. Their bitter feud with the Eagles.

I am TJ's medulla oblongata...and I am spectacular.

Somebody in the Burger King marketing department got high and googled: "midget farmers".

so, the terps. guh.

The aggies are looking every bit as shell-shocked as the terps.

dear ncaa tournament participants,

i've been forced by the lopsided nature of your games this afternoon to build two children's desks and a hutch. i am now far too familiar with cam bolts and particle board. please to be giving us some competitive games this evening. i really don't want to have to fold laundry.

many thanks,
rob

Whitney said...

Rob, please keep any and all work tools away from you this evening; if Duke wins by 20, you'll want to gouge out your eyes with them.

Whitney said...

Did Gary Williams do enough to keep himself off the hot seat this off-season?

TR said...

I'm right there with you, Rob, as I just finished putting in my family man time for the day. Papers and cardboard are sorted and tied, laundry is done and the house is clean for tomorrow's company. Some very bad tourney action has been missed, but there will be more better ball tonight.

Day-drinking is a good way to still feel like a man while helping the wife around the house. Those 3 Yuenglings were tasty and will tide me over until wine with dinner.

rob said...

did crack a day beer - harpoon ipa with fire rock pale ale to follow. i most certainly have earned it.

TR said...

Oddly enough, my wife and I have different thoughts on the concept of "earning it." Mine tends to be more liberal.

rob said...

purdue sporting the black jerseys with black numbers look. i do not approve. how can i tell robbie hummel from etwaun moore?

zman said...

What do you need a hutch for?

Shlara said...

Rob & TR--you def didn't miss anything earlier. I was enjoying tourney Saturday at the National Corndog Day festivities at Local 16. Games were so boring that hardly anyone was paying attention. Either that, or they were in a food coma from the PBR, tater tots, Corn Dogs & Twinkies. Very healthy afternoon.

KQ said...

Oh dear God, we have a National Corndog Day? No wonder our country is in the shitter.

(I meant that figuratively, but you could probably read it either way.)

KQ said...

By the way Shlara - did you notice Digger with the yellow tie and yellow highlighter? It disturbs me. Everyone knows "matchy-matchy" is out.

Shlara said...

I know--Digger needs a stylist...KQ, you'd be perfect for the job. I wonder if we have some connections there that can make this happen....hmmmm.

Shlara said...

Also, I just want to say that it is SOOO nice not to have to hear Billy Packer yammer this year.

Well then, my day has certainly been better than most of you. I went to see the Cardinals take on the Nationals. Cards brought just about everyone (aside from Ankiel) and the game was a 12-11 affair that only last 3 hours. I've had quite a few beers (with my old man), a couple shots (with my girlfriend) and some suprisingly good ball park food to keep it all company (with both). And, I didn't miss a single interesting game in the process. Everything's coming up Mark!

rob said...

i love me some john beilein, but i'm gonna need to insist that his boys stand down in the second half.

Mark said...

Oh yeah...what's a hutch? I had a Hutch brand BMX bike in my youth, but I don't think that's what Rob was talking about...

Mark said...

I hate to do this but...Geaux Tigers!

rob said...

no, that's a completely appropriate sentiment.

Whitney said...

Wake gave my bracket a vasectomy last night. Carolina and Oklahoma are scrubbing up and laying out the utensils for a full-on castration tonight.

Mark said...

I'd like TJ to know that E'Twaun is also, in no way a name.

Mark said...

Has any announcer ever praised Chris Kramer's without using the word tough?

T.J. said...

It sounds like a territory you would need to garner a five army bonus in RISK.

Mark said...

Do you ever, through your various monetary transactions throughout the day, end up with an inordinate amount of $1 bills?

Well, I feel like that God's way of telling you to go to the strip club...

Whitney said...

Speaking of strip clubs, have we heard from TJ today? I'll never forget my first trip to AC when we paid a cover to buy $7 beers and watch some mildly hot girls striptease their way down to their bathing suits and leave the stage. We were heartily flummoxed.

Whitney said...

Been wondering what could complete the dorky Duke nerd look for Zoubek. Yep, the toilet paper sticking out of the nostril pretty much does the trick.

rob said...

can one of the teams i dislike intensely lose today? is that too much to ask?

rob said...

according to sports illustrated, lamar odom brings his glove to baseball games in hopes of catching a foul ball. that makes me happy.

Whitney said...

It doesn't make SportGuy happy. He thinks adults who bring a glove should be taken to the stadium basement and murdered in front of their children.

rob said...

i'm not generally a proponent, but i like what it says about odom's goofiness.

Mark said...

There was a 50-60 year old guy with a Yankee hat and a popped collar a couple rows in front of me with a glove on. I assume he's an awesome guy.

rob said...

if wku beats gonzaga, carolina pretty much has a walkover into the elite 8. not that the tissue-soft zags are much better.

Mark said...

Today...the jackoff fan was sitting a couple rows in front of me today.

rob said...

you realize we're all staying at your place during g:tb spring training road trip 2010, right?

Mark said...

Fine with me. Its just too bad that the Dodgers left Vero (hopefully somebody moves into the complex). Dodgertown was/is fucking awesome and is less than an hour south of here. If that happens, that'll make 5 complexes within just about an hour of my house.

Mark said...

WOOOW. That was one hell of a lefty shovel pass that AJ Abrams just threw.

rob said...

that was a sick pass. and texas needs to find pittman more - duke can't match him physically.

T.J. said...

Hey you guys watching basketball?

Mark said...

This WKU-Gonzaga game is terrific and I bet about 10% of the country is getting it on CBS. Mendez-Vladez is playing his multiple named ass off.

T.J. said...

This Valdez cannot be sunk...and destroy an ecosystem.

T.J. said...

Well, fuck, if Duke is going to make threes like that I might actually owe Dennis a case of beer.

rob said...

duke is getting open looks and texas isn't. story of the ballgame.

Whitney said...

Mark, what are the four other teams whose spring training sites are so close to you?

rob said...

god wouldn't have made duke sound so much like douche if he didn't want us to hate them.

Mark said...

Braves (Disney), Astros (Kissimmee), Mets (St. Lucie), Nationals (Melbourne/Viera).

There's also Marlins/Cardinals in Jupiter which is about an hour and a half away.

Whitney said...

Singler would resemble a human more if he could cultivate even trace amounts of eyebrow.

Mark said...

I'm pretty neutral on Duke. I was an enormous Duke fan until my late teens but once I got to Florida and was able to witness the beginnings of Donovan's program up close, all my Duke fandom disappeared.

rob said...

i've always despised carolina. my hate for duke is a relatively new phenomenon. can't really explain it - never really disliked the hurley/wojo era devils, but there's something about this team that grates on me.

rob said...

make a fucking free throw

Whitney said...

Rob, maybe because those guys were better players. These guys haven't yet earned the right to be so whiny, spazzy, dweeby, and annoying.

Mark said...

I actually never actively hated Carolina either. I know that makes no sense. Greg and I went to the Carolina basketball camp when we were in jr. high...I have a sweet picture with Dean Smith where I'm sporting a nice crew cut/flat top .

But, I get what you mean. I haven't liked/enjoyed a Duke team since the Jason Williams teams (everybody seems to forget what a beast he was) and this team just isn't that good (especially if they aren't hitting 3s), imo.

As for Carolina...Roy Williams can go fuck himself as far as I'm concerned.

Mark said...

I'm seriously considering changing my last name to Mendez-Valdez.

Mark said...

The late games have been kind to us this weekend...

rob said...

we have drama!

Mark said...

Why would CBS cut away from Gonzaga-WKU just as they get out of the timeout?

rob said...

wow, gonzaga.

Mark said...

DAMN...thats a great final 20 seconds!

rob said...

that's a quesssstionable call on james.

rob said...

fuck. that was a tremendous play by scheyer.

Mark said...

It really was. I think you have to question the shot Abrams took. If you're going for a quick two there (which you should be) you have to get something better than a leaner off one foot from 8 feet.

rob said...

unfuckingreal, the breaks duke got down the stretch on this game.

Whitney said...

Wow. Texas had so many chances in this game and pissed them away every single time.
