Ear/Eyemuffs

The good grammarians at Letters of Note bring us the following epistle from the bizarro business world of Hollywood. My greatest career objective is now to use at least one of the descriptive phrases from this memorandum in an official capacity.

to answer whit's question in the previous thread, i was late to the game on husker du - i was way into mould solo before i knew much about the band and never caught up. so i don't really have a strong opinion. i will say that 'hate paper doll' is my favorite du song, if that helps.

Did his lack of smarts come back to haunt him? Or did he get pulled over with (choose one) weed/coke/open container?

T.J. said...

Cliff Lee is fucking destroying the Rockies right now.

so the lesson for braylon edwards, which he should have already known: don't fuck with the king.

So, Joe Mauer is the Tim Tebow of Minnesota, right?

Well, actually, Mauer is the Tebow with Libido of MN but that's splitting hairs.

ESPN radio is reporting the Dez Bryant story.

Geoff can't get enough of his local sports talk...even in these trying times.

Czabe and Andy are great theater when the Redskins are bungling.

Can't find Whit's Husker Du comment. And I'm lazy so I won't look for it.

Favorite songs: Makes No Sense at All or Could You Be the One. Way too many runners up.

Squirrel check out Warehouse: Songs and Stories. I have a good bootleg from 86 in Boston of all places.

How old do we think Craig Sager is?

Since the Rockies and the Twins are the only playoff teams I can stomach rooting for, looks like it's gonna be a long postseason for me, eh?

LAS VEGAS -- Oddsmakers in Las Vegas have picked the New York Yankees and the St. Louis Cardinals as favorites to meet in the World Series and think New York has an overwhelming chance to win its first title since 2000.

The Yankees are 3-2 favorites to win the championship despite having to beat three teams to do it, oddsmaker Tony Sinisi of Las Vegas Sports Consultants said Wednesday.

The Twins, who beat the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night for the AL Central title, are a bigger underdog at 25-1 to win it all -- given the first-round matchup with New York -- than before the season started.

St. Louis is considered the National League favorite at 9-2 odds for the series, but not by much ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies (11-2) and Los Angeles Dodgers (6-1). Las Vegas Sports Consultants, which recommends betting lines for 90 percent of casinos in Nevada, set the Colorado Rockies' odds to win the World Series at 14-1.

and as we know, it's all about you. can't root for your friends to be happy (except tj and tr), can you? jerk.

T.J. said...

What do Jay-Z and Kate Hudson talk about during the game?

Whitney said...

No. I rooted for you to be happy in 2003 and 2004. In 2007 I was happy enough for you. At this point, you need some perspective back. I'd consider rooting for the Yankees against the Red Sox, if only to bring back some of that ire. And frankly, you'd secretly be grateful if the Yankees won because some of the enormous bandwagon might be depleted.

Plus, deep down you love the Bronx Bombers.

rob said...

perspective is overrated.

Whitney said...

I'll agree with that. I've got all too much perspective, humility, and a real sense of what being a loser is like thanks to my two favorite sports teams. And my group of friends.

rob said...

this game is sadly predictable.

My girlfriend just said to me "Did you know that Al Franken from Saturday Night Live is a senator?" She obviously reads the newspaper daily.

Jay-Z and Kate Hudson talk about Justin Timberlake, according to Geoff's publicist.
