G:TB's Election Eve Coverage

According to cnn.com, this gentleman is one of the 5 percent of Americans who remain undecided about their choice in tomorrow's Presidential election. Also, this man drives with his blinker on for miles at a time, routinely finds himself trying to pay with cash in the EZPASS ONLY lane at toll plazas, takes 17 minutes to successfully place his order at the Taco Bell drive thru, and talks on his cell phone while waving to his friends when he's sitting behind home plate at televised baseball games.

Note: no candidate endorsement implied by this post. Just pointing out that this guy is a moron.

[Kinda reminds me of this guy:

Know what I mean, Vern?]

excellent editorial judgment, teej.

as it turns out, our friend is undecided because abortion is his primary issue. and with the economy humming along and the u.s. blissfully free of international entanglements, i can see why that'd be a high priority issue.

MA has a ballot initiative to repeal state income tax. I'm leaning toward keeping the income tax (how else will the state pay for schools, roads, cops, etc.) but part of me thinks it would be nice to experiment with life on the other side of the Laffer curve.

rob said...

what's the alternative? is it just straight 'eliminate the tax' with no offsetting cost cutting or revenue generating plan? that sounds suspiciously like the brilliant jim gilmore's 'no car tax' pledge here in virginia a decade or so ago.

zman said...

There is no plan.

I like the way David Sedaris put it-
"To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?”

To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.

I mean, really, what’s to be confused about?"

So Mr. Sheen's big issue is abortion? It figures, since he's going to have so many babies. I love it that he's all hung up on whether or not he should try to control women's reproductive decisions. As Rob pretty much said, we have so few other compelling issues to think about.

Is that a picture of our very own "Dennis"?

Greetings to all the folks popping over from this link on the actual cnn.com page...

I suggest you explore all G:TB has to offer while you're here.

I knew getting that webcam last Christmas would turn out to be a curse...

indeed, the fact that cnn.com linked to this blog is just one more nugget of absurdity in an election full of wonderful surrealism.

To put it in perspective, that's the third "celebrity" comparison I've gotten in the last couple months. I'm also a cross between Dave Matthews and Geoff Ogilvy, depending on the photo angle, lighting, number of beers...

Just goes to prove how successful Republicans have driven (and created) wedge issues. I am convinced that Republicans actually really dont care about issues such abortion and gay marriage, but, because they can create a stance on this, they can garner more votes. If anyone can name a piece of legislation that Bush has passed regarding these issues in his 8 years as president than I am proven wrong.

Also, "moral issues"? Its OK if we elect someone that will continue the policies of massacring tens of thousands of lives in an illegal, unfounded war but if we even allow a few mothers to choose to terminate the lives of their unborn childern then forget it.

I'd rather be compared to Ben Ogilvie than Geoff Ogilvy, but that's just me.

I think Jim Varney would be proud today.

This guy is a moron-he admits he voted for Bush in '04-look what allowing turds like him vote does to our country.

CNN, wow--maybe Wolf will join us for the next NBA roundtable discussion.

rob said...

pretty impressed, aren't you? and here you were, thinking we're just a bunch of ne'er-do-wells.

TR said...

They allow turds to vote in Nebraska?

Dennis said...

I eat turds like you for breakfast.

T.J. said...

A.I. and 'Sheed...together again.

zman said...

I understand that Turdblossom voted already via absentee ballot. But that was in Texas, not Nebraska.

Mark said...

I stay away from G:TB for an afternoon and look what happens. Who knew I was the glue holding this whole thing together? Well, besides TJ...by the way, Teej, nice Bill & Ted ref.

Which almost makes up for your 'Sheed/AI comment. Feels like I would've remembered that combo of truly unique players. Did I black out for an NBA season earlier this century?

T.J. said...

Damn you...you got here and caught that before I could delete it. I blame Woody Paige for making me blackout.

rob said...

they both played kenner league together in d.c. in the mid 90s.

Mark said...

With one eyed Victor Paige?

T.J. said...

The Victor Page wiki page gets right to the point:

"...he is also notorious for his troubles with self-control and with D.C. street life..."

zman said...

That seems like a bad trade for Detroit, doesn't it?

Mark said...

No, its not immediately but he AI comes off their cap this summer which should allow Dumars to retool this team without having to become a shitty team for a few years.

While its better for Denver, it still doesn't make them a legit contender in the West.

Greg said...

Wow...just wow. Read Victor Page's wiki.

rob said...

i love the internet.

Dennis said...

Someone needs to start a TJ Wiki page. And a G:TB page too for that matter.

zman said...

Imagine showing up at Georgetown and getting Victor Page as your freshman roommate? It would probably be something like rhymenocerous' freshman roomie experience.
