On the eve of a new football season, FOG:TB and all-around Renaissance Man Dave Fairbank offers a preview of the Tribe's season-opener/couch-burner at West Virginia in today's Daily Press.
If you're looking for other great coverage of W&M Football, you've definitely come to the wrong place. May we commend to you, though, the really excellent work being done at Shades of 48, which is rapidly surpassing us as the leading W&M sports blog on the internet. Not the leading W&M hoops/dipshittery blog, though. No sir.

wabbit stew is opening. heard they've played squeaky's living room
I'm officially worried about the upcoming season of Gator Football. The starting RT was announced as out for the year with a torn labrum earlier this week. The starting LG (and best/most experienced OLineman) is out for at least the first two games with a partially torn pectoral muscle. And the starting tailback (who is really good & significantly more experienced than any other RB on the roster) hasn't practiced yet this fall due to a severe viral infection and will miss at least the first game. Not a great set of injuries for a team who wants to run the ball as much as Florida does.
Had to get that off my chest. I'm sure you were all waiting to hear my first Gator related rant of the 2013 season. So, there you go.
you're working on the official gtb college football preview, i assume
No, I'm not. I am working on something CFB related though. Won't be ready this week.
Danimal- Want to make some weekly picks this year? We can keep tally and loser buys the winner a bacon Bloody Mary.
I want a bacon bloody mary.
shades of 48 is, like, a real blog.
Are you saying G:TB isn't real?
the fuck, dave?
Mark, good idea. What do you propose?
I have very similar concerns on ND's (nuts) end not counting Tommy Turnover as starting QB.
We pick three games a week ATS. Same games. Post it on Saturdays. What do you think?
Not considering spreads, which is the bigger upset: Tech over Bama or Tribe over Eers? I'll hang up and listen.
Ha. Gotta be the Tribesters, even though I do think Va Tech will lose by 35+.
hmmm, the caa beats d-1 programs at least as often as the acc beats the sec. probably more often.
when's the last time an acc school beat a top-ranked team? i legitimately can't remember. maybe uva over florida state? and when was the last time an acc school beat a non-conference #1?
settle down, finebaum jr.
Mark...sounds good.
the answer to both questions (sorry, mark) is 1996, when free shoes university topped florida in the season finale.
Haven't seen the other d1 vs sub d matchups for the wkd. If you had to pick one though I would imagine this would be near the top. If last year's D is any indication, tribe could see the endzone 2-3 times. Not enough to win but maybe enough to cover!
I was at that game, Rob. My freshman year of college. Quite a game. It ultimately led to a rematch in the Sugar Bowl. Florida won 52-20 & captured its first National Championship. So, that loss isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things.
Just seeing that Duck Dynasty show for the first time. What IS this?? And there's a.charchter named Squirrel who has a junkyard.
most characters named squirrel have a junkyard
Greetings from late night at the US open.
It is 12:36 and they are still selling beer.
Not a lot of visitors to squirrel's junkyard. Too small I hear.
tribe getting 33; gators giving 23.5 to a team they could have lost to last year - i doubt that'll happen again; nd giving 29.5
mark, how about we select each week's premier thurs game, friday game, and we can discuss sat's...so tonight - usc/unc; fri - byu/texas tech; sat - ga/clem?
i guess we could email our picks to one of the doofus' to maintain integrity, mine not yours.
Just emailed you, Dan. Included the editorial staff as well.
lots of behind the scenes emails. GIDDY as a little schoolgirl!!!
camera pans to danimal running down hallway, pig-tail wig, hands waving in air, laughing uncontrollably

That got me. Not sure why but it did. On a (semi) related note: Why would South Carolina and Ole Miss just cancel classes the next two days. It's not like anybody is going to class today or tomorrow. I'd include UCF too but nobody ever goes to class there.
