J-E-T-S...JETS! JETS! JETS!

I've been saying all week this game comes down to one thing, and one thing only really, because I believe the Jets and Steelers defenses and offenses basically wipe each other out. It's all about the goddamn kickers. And I'm telling you, I saw what this stadium did to Doug Brien 7 years ago (and what I almost did to Jerry's laptop on that final miss)...Nick Folk, this is our little corner of the internet putting you on blast. Please do not epically fuck this game up like I've told everyone you would do this week. Please man, make some kicks...

**Fun Update (unless you are Doug Brien):
That bastion of unchallenged internet truths, Wikipedia, informs us that Doug Brien is in fact "most well known" for missing the kicks I reference above. Well Doug, any press is good press, right? Right???

finger update: feeling has returned to my left thumb, but i still can't feel the tip of my left index finger. bizarre.

Tom Jackson: "No one will affect the Jets' performance more than Dennis Byrd... other than the players on the field."

I expect better out of you, [non-Gheorge] TJ.

How are the Jets fans feeling about this game? Seems like a lot of people are picking them.

Go Steelers!!!

rob - one of your nerves has possibly been "moved" or pinched, altering the ability of the brain to send the message to your finger that you actually have a finger.
i have numbness in my right pinky. right now it's minor, but it gets worse as the year goes on (biking, on a tri-bike). by july - i won't be able to feel it at all. i went to the dr. last year where they identified the exact nerve thru a series of tests - i could have surgery to have it moved and most likely fixed permanently. it doesn't really bother me so i'm bypassing the knife.

i'm not a doctor. but i play one at home.

rob said...

that was easier than a winchester girl

Danimal said...

yeah. but not quite as easy as that first drive for g.b.

rob said...

yes, danimal-san, that's what i meant

Danimal said...

very well then.

mayhugh said...

Great combo by the left guard there, shed onto the LB flawlessly.

Danimal said...

where are our roving bloggers the teej and the tee-are?

and speaking of missing bloggers -is igor still with us?

Mark said...

I haven't had feeling in the tip of my right index finger since May, due to the herniated disk in my neck and the nerve damage I suffered as a result. I'll probably never get it back. You get used to it.

Mark said...

Oh, and in case anybody was wondering, my ribs are really fucking sore today. Somebody hit me in the ribs during pickup ball this morning and I thought I was going to cry.

T.J. said...

I'm at Sports Cave...

rob said...

igor is either in or on his way home from the bahamas

I'm on the commode, the only place in my house where I get peace. Meant to do a preview, but had no time. I really like the Jets chances, although a bit less so with the extreme weather. The beaten down Pitt line may be the one big NYJ advantage.

This is the fourth AFC championship game I've watched my team play, and the first one I thought they could legitimately win.

I will go to radio silence at 6:09 for the game. Worked last week. Go Jets!

drove home from princeton this morning, passed a surprising number of jets fans on the way to pittsburgh. make of that what you will.

mayhugh said...

Cutler's gotta put something together on this drive - decent field position - or this might get out of hand.

rob said...

the packers are going to regret failing to take advantage of the great field position they've had most of the first half. unless cutler keeps making throws like that.

mayhugh said...

Feels like Rodgers can move the ball whenever he wants to, but yeah, I would have expected more points with the field position advantage.

mayhugh said...

And no one takes a shotgun snap as leisurely as Aaron Rodgers.

rob said...

now that was weird

rob said...

just cutler being cutler

T.J. said...

This is how GB started the game...

mayhugh said...

Bears can forget about it if Todd Collins comes in.

TR said...

Todd Collins = 100% chance Bears lose.

rob said...

what an unreal throw by rodgers

mayhugh said...

May seem like chippy pass interference call, but I'll agree with the call.

mayhugh said...

Well then...

rob said...

that's the only thing the pack absolutely couldn't do

mayhugh said...

Collins looks like he's 55.

rob said...

calling bullshit on cutler's injury

mayhugh said...

Lovie Smith looks like he's ready to go back to fighting John McClaine on the wing of a 747.

mayhugh said...

Jennings is running the same route over and over and he's always open.

rob said...

the packers are trying really hard to keep the bears in this game

Danimal said...

collins, in his 16th season, is younger than me.

mayhugh said...

Caleb Hanie?

Danimal said...

yeah, caleb hanie. or hannie. feeling real, real good about my bears bet, not that i was feeling much better earlier.

Danimal said...

cutler's beaver must hurt pretty bad.

Danimal said...

what???? someone explain to me the collins can't come back in rule b/c hanie came in w/a minute left in the 3rd?

Danimal said...

for i am just a caveman

rob said...

if the 3rd qb enters the game before the 4th quarter, neither of the other two can reenter.

and the pack windpipes just got a little narrower.

Danimal said...

that's a gay rule.

i need a gimp mask, modified. rather than a cue ball, i need a pacifier. so it will stop falling out. for my 2 month old.

T.J. said...

Caleb hanie says suck a dick

mayhugh said...

If the Bears somehow pull this out, how fast do you think Cutler informs the team that his knee feels better? Does he wait until they get into the locker room or does he just quickly tell everyone on the field?

Danimal said...

and kiss my hanie

Dave said...

rob, to return feeling to your finger, stick in the warmest hole in your body.

what happens to the jets game if this goes into OT?

rob said...

bullet dodged

mayhugh said...

This is a monstrously impressive drive.

mayhugh said...

Mark Sanchez just wiped a booger on Mark Brunell, captured on camera.

Greg said...

And smiled the whole time.

Danimal said...

i'm several minutes behind and just saw the booger wipe. brunell was very content w/the fact, happy almost. good stuff.

so no one made it to the game, as in the 2T's

rob said...

this is an impressive asswhippery

T.J. said...

Game. Over.

Mark said...

So two of the last three NFL games of the year suck? Great. What a Sunday.

Danimal said...

yeah - both pretty disappointing. the payoff tho is the super bowl where we could have a pick'em....aiming to find out of that has ever happened.

mayhugh said...

I'm content with Packers-Steelers, but I want to see what the Jets are made of here.

mayhugh said...

Nantz and Simms paid it plenty of lip service, but the fact Ben has stayed in and played pretty competently after that thigh ding shouldn't be undersold. Those things hurt like a bitch.

mayhugh said...

I know they need a field goal at some point (most likely), but a TD means a lot more mentally here than a figgie.

T.J. said...

Thank you ray finkle

mayhugh said...

Jets have 5 rushes for 1 yard at half.

rob said...

hey now

mayhugh said...

Nice ball.

mayhugh said...

They should run that play more.

mayhugh said...

It's threatening to get interesting.

T.J. said...

Shut up mayhugh

mayhugh said...

Go cast a ballot, Teej.

mayhugh said...

teej - keep this in your back pocket to view later.

It looks dreadful, like a cheesier Kindergarten Cop.

rob said...

rut ro, raggy

T.J. said...

Ben never mishandles a clit that way

Shlara said...

shit.

rob said...

this is a pretty impressive response to asswhippery

T.J. said...

Hmmmmmmm

rob said...

pour out a little creatine shake for jack lalanne

T.J. said...

But is Elaine LaLane still available?

T.J. said...

Go green bay

mayhugh said...

It's tough determining whom I'm going to root for. Wisconsin has cheese, football, and obesity. Pitssburgh has the steel industry, football, and obesity. Wisconsin was the fictional setting of That 70's Show. Pittsburgh was the fictional setting of Mr. Belvedere.

I'll have to stew on this for a while.

Sunday hangover? Where's my new reading material for Monday.

jets fans are really sad today (while bandwagon fans like myself are completely unaffected).

i think your haircut story is worth a cross-posting.
