G:TB Technology Hour

Let it never be said that our man Ghitza isn't cutting the edge. Here, in a candid moment captured by one of our numerous field agents, he's shown making a phone call on an iPad - even though such thing is said to be impossible. His hands are huuuge.

Mark, I'm a post late, but the Cards look like a team of destiny. Of course, it's only May 4. And Pujols has yet to be outed for HGH, and Yadier Molina has yet to have "the incident." Plus, when the Cardinals last won the World Series they looked like a team of crapsacks, not destiny. But hey . . .

I will say this: Dave Duncan has superseded Leo Mazzone, Roger Craig, Mel Stottlemyre, and other great pitching coaches of the last 30 years. He's the best. The Brad Penny reclamation project is just the latest in a long series of taking washed-up or never-were-all-that-great dudes and making them solid to stellar. (I think Teejay's buddy Jason Marquis was one.) It's annoying, but the praise Duncan gets he deserves.

To whit, and Slider's point, it's a long and distinguished list:

Jeff Weaver (I think)
Jeff Suppan (I mean, 4yrs 40 mil Mil-a"waukee?)
Joel Pineiro (learn to pronounce your first name right douche)

The list goes one and on...my attempts at jokes...not so much.

If rob would just post for lunch...

Duncan's run of reclamation projects is staggerring in terms of numbers, span of years and previously shitty (or at least below average) pitchers. And this year he seems to have found another gem (along with Carpenter and Wainwright) to work with in rookie Jamie Garcia.

And Igor, shut yer mouth about Yadi. That guy's a saint.
