Suck It, Randy Newman

I give you the 2008 American League MVP. He's the one in his dad's arms.

Wow, that didn't take long.

"Pedroia became the first AL second baseman to win the award since Nellie Fox in 1959."

I see.

i'm actually more than a little surprised. as much as i love that tiny bastard, i would have voted for joe mauer. never underestimate the sportswriter's love for small, scrappy white dudes.

It's really shame FJM went away...they could have some fun with this.

rob said...

man, i'm really happy about this. pedroia's gonna be even more insufferable now. somewhere, his teammates are groaning.

T.J. said...

OK, where the hell did you find that new bottom picture?

rob said...

you like, dontcha? it was on sosh.

TR said...

I heard Youk was so happy for little Dusty that he told him he'd put on his leather chaps and gag ball and let Dusty have his way with him. Again.

Random gasoline note:

Gas futures contracts continue to crater. They're pointing to gas at about $1.80 per gallon in the next 1-2 months.

Start shopping for your H3...

So you could have three zima, get hammertime, and heckle them?

rob said...

so i could make pledges participate.

and the zima thing.

I didn't know there was a W&M Student Assembly, let alone that there was a President of it. And that said President was a star.

I saw Pedroia drinking a Zima with a Jolly Rancher in it at Daisy Buchanan's. True story.

T.J. said...

That's odd, I saw Pedroia drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's...his hair was perfect.

Carolina/Kentucky tonight, right? I believe I said UNC by 35, even without the hyper gay muppet?

I love having college hoops back.

Patrick Patterson needs a haircut, badly.

Mark said...

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Michael Porter has absolutely no business starting at the point for and SEC team.

Mark said...

Oh, and that this game is already over. Seriously.

T.J. said...

Tell me Cuse at least beat Richmond?

rob said...

this is about the start our doofus overlord/savant predicted. looking forward to the season's first extended vitale mid-blowout vamping.

rob said...

barely, teej.

rob said...

what the fuck offense is kentucky running? we have better spacing and ball movement during my sunday morning pickup games.

I know people really hate Vitale, but I do love having him back every November. Now, ask me again during a Duke/Carolina game in January and I might be cleaning my gun with silver Vitale bullets, but for now, good to have you back baybee.

T.J. said...

Showtime!!! Are youuuu seriouuus????

rob said...

man, this is embarrassing. the wild pass off the backboard into an alley oop for the other team is not a testament to team discipline.

rob said...

i don't hate vitale, i just get tired of him - exactly the way you describe it. hard to hate his passion for the game.

T.J. said...

Holy shit. Mark, grab a pen and x your calendar, rob just agreed with me.

T.J. said...

So, the Wiz suck something fierce, eh?

Mark said...

Well, at least they don't have $170 million dollars tied up in two guys who might be past their prime. Oh wait...

Mark said...

I'm glad that we get OU-Davidison to make up for this sham of a "big game" between UK and UNC.

T.J. said...

Two guys, 170 mil, two good knees (maybe only one)

T.J. said...

Oh man, Underpants Gnomes episode on Comedy Central right now...

rob said...

did i see correctly that andris biedrins has 16 consecutive double-doubles?

TR said...

Knicks are closing the gap on the Celts. They can't play D and they had a 2nd quarter group on the floor consisting of three point guards and two power forwards, yet they are down by 6 with 5:41 left.

Mark said...

Yes, Rob you did see that correctly. He's the only real big man who Nellie trusts.

T.J. said...

Rhymo, is Wilson Chandler still playing well?

rob said...

steph curry needs to get a lot better on defense.

TR said...

Chandler is turning into a bit of a beast. I think he ended up with 23. He's starting at the 4 position for NY, so he'll do okay with rebounding numbers as well. He's a very polished offensive player. With his minutes and the tempo of the team, I could see him at 16-18 ppg this year.

Mark said...

He's a great fit for D'Antoni's system. He can play both forward spots and maybe even a little 2 if they go big. He's a nice combo of skills, motor and athleticism.

TR said...

After tonight's 23/7 performance, Chandler is averaging 14.6 ppg and 5.5 rpg. Both should go up significantly from there.

And Chris Duhon is much harder to hate when he plays on your team. The guy makes the right decisions almost all the time. His assist-to-turnover ratio is fantastic, he gives 100% every second he's on the court and he can run all night. Hard to hate that. Unless you're Stephon Marbury...

TR said...

Mark makes good points about Chandler. I have to admit I knew nothing about the guy when he was drafted last year.

Chandler's ridiculous ink medley meshes well with those of Curry, Marbury, Richardson and Robinson.
A little more chemistry for that squad. They have to be the worst inked team in the league. There's a big difference between quality and quantity.

rob said...

davidson needs to not get run off the floor with curry on the bench for the last 6 minutes of the half.

T.J. said...

Steve Lavin having an uncharacteristically bad hair night.

T.J. said...

Chris Bosh with a 40 and 18 night.

T.J. said...

Ashley Judd, we get it, you like Kentucky. Now go away and make another lame thriller with Morgan Freeman.

Did any of you see Obama on 60 Mins this week? He sounds serious about throwing his weight around to get rid of the BCS. Maybe he can use his bully-pulpit to get rid of the WNBA too.

Whitney said...

He's going to bring a salary cap to baseball, too.

Herbert Hoover was "a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage." Bill Clinton was "A chick and some pot in a garage." We'll see what Mr. Obama's take on that is. For starters, he's president #44 -- in Washington, this is a revered number.
