Something to hold you over until the Picks Post

It's not even Thanksgiving people, and yet this holiday gem was awaiting me as I flipped stations this morning on my way to the cracker factory:

Screw you 97.1 WASH FM.

Apparently the Knicks are about to trade Malik Rose's corpse to Golden State for Al Harrington.

That will be a big upgrade on the court for NY, but Harrington is signed through 2010. The corpse's contract will expire in 2009. It is set to earn $7.6 MM this year.

This will make the Knicks' frontcourt a bit crowded in weeks ahead, as Jared Jeffries is almost healthy. Meanwhile, Jerome James and Eddy Curry continue to eat chicken wings and collect dust in a corner.

I get pissed off every time I see Malik Rose.

I've never been much of an Al Harrington fan. Classic tweener. I suppose he'll do alright playing as a mobile, undersized 4 in D'Antoni's system but I don't think his shot is consistent enough to really spread the floor the way MD likes his bigs too. Also, he's not a freak athlete like Marion who will just kill other teams' bigs down the court for easy dunks and layups.

I guess if they are only trying to have some success and then have a ton of cap room for the summer of 2010 then its not a bad move but, like I said, I don't love Harrington's game a ton.

Other G:TB hoops (albeit slightly dated) note: Dennis loves Stephen Curry with all his loins.

Dropped 44 after sitting out about 7 minutes in the first half - scoring 27 of them in the second. This against a very strong Oklahoma team - who were in his grill all night. Do you people realize how hard it is to score that many points as the smallest guy on a team with zero other scoring threats; while the other team is trying to stop you, and only you, the whole time?

Well, do you??!!

Someone switched out Dennis' decaf for some Tweek Bros. Coffee. It's country fresh, like the morning after a rainstorm.

Yes, and I realized that two days ago when the game was on.

Seriously though, I heard a pretty good comparison for Curry (though its his absolute ceiling as an NBA player)...Mark Price.

Think about it, niftier with the dribble than most give him credit for. Lights out jumper, a number of other shots in his arsenal (floater, runner, etc.), moves well w/out the ball. Like I said, its his ceiling as a player but its the best comparison I'd heard up to this point.

Yeah, it's a lock they moved him to the point for his senior season to up his draft stock...strong move. But, seriously, his defense is a major problem. Wait, I know an NBA team that would be perfect for him - scoring PG, no defense...

Wait a second, Georgia Tech rushed for 472 yards against Miami last night?

472? Holy fuck.

Mark said...

I believe its only his junior year. Either way, its the right move for his NBA prospects.

472 is ridiculous. Paul Johnson doesn't get nearly enough credit in the "mad offensive genius" category. The triple fucking option? In 2008? That takes some brass balls.

just in case you were wondering, miami didn't cover.

and that idiot Fitzpatrick was about to get a nice cover last night until he throws that pick to polamalu at the goal line with 23 seconds left. bastard. Also, the commentary by the NFL network guys hurts my ears. There are some nice insights, but the majority of the time it hurts me.

i heart paul johnson.

rob hearts more guys than Andy Dick.

I am more than a bit offended that there has been so much Curry talk, yet no mention of his MILF-a-licious mom.

Dell may be a wealthy man who had a solid NBA player, but he looks like a cross between Steve Harvey and Sinbad. He clearly outkicked his coverage by landing her.

Mark said...

He grabbed her early on too, as I believe they met at Va. Tech.

And Rhyme-O, if you could refrain from using the term "MILF-a-licious" in the future, It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
