Hello...is it me you're looking for?

I'm back from Orlando for about 24 hours, then off to Charlotte for work (seriously, could I have plannned my work travel any worse?), but I thought I'd pop in and do what I do best. Or rather, I'd let Lionel do it for me (skip to the 5:00 mark if you just want to laugh at the sculpture):

My two favorite clay head sculptures of 1980's African-American pop stars:

#2) This rendition of Lionel (and his jheri curl) from the "Hello" video. It's more impressive because the blind sculptor nailed his wispy stache and curls. Phenomenal job.

#1) The rendition of Jermaine Jackson's head that Tootie made for him in an awesome episode of Facts of Life. She wasn't even a professional artist, but she nailed the clay sculpture. The tragic turn in this episode was that Jermaine's security team thought it was a bomb, so they destroyed it. Tootie was devastated, but her spirits rose when Jermaine let her into his dressing room to personally thank her. He then undressed her, squeezed her enormous melons and had his way with her on the floor. I think.

Do the Wiz plan on winning a game anytime soon?

The internet continues to amaze me, more than a decade after Al Gore invented it. Did you know that Lionel Richie's first wife was arrested for spousal abuse? Did you also know that:

In recent years, Richie has become a phenomenon in various Arab states,[3][4] and has performed in Morocco, Dubai, Qatar and even Libya.[5]

As ABC News reports:

Grown Iraqi men get misty-eyed by the mere mention of his name. "I love Lionel Richie," they say. Iraqis who do not understand a word of English can sing an entire Lionel Richie song. He has performed in Morocco, Dubai, Qatar and Libya. There is obviously something up there. The more we talked, the more he theorized as to the reasons his music might be so popular here. He thinks it is because of the simple message in his music: Love.[5]

According to Richie, he was told that Iraqi civilians were playing "All Night Long" the night that U.S. tanks invaded Baghdad.[5]

Said Richie, "I'm huge, huge in the Arab world. The answer as to why is, I don't have the slightest idea."[5]

I hear ya TJ--I'm a little stressed out by the Wizards situation. We NEED the win tonight.

That video was directed by the legendary Bob Giraldi. He also directed Thriller and Beat It (I think)

I'm thinking the Jazz drop them to 0-6 tonight, but I would at least hope they could win a game in the home-and-home with Miami that follows.

Jim Bowden wants to bring Manny to DC. That would be interesting. Also, as much as I hate to say this, I think Bowden got the better of the deal with the Marlins for Willingham and Olsen.

Maybe if we can get Lionel Richie to perform a Wizards post game concert(Shlara: you know how much fun & easily staged those are), then we could tie this whole thing together and finally bring the change we need to DC. Yes we can!!
