Who OKs this crap?

So the other day, I get a junk email from the local oldies/classic rock station BIG 100.3. Whatever, delete it as always....but wait, what's this you're promoting? New AC/DC? Awesome...hold on, am I reading this newsletter banner right? Either these people are the most callous folks in the world or just plain old stoopid:

The "Rock You Like a Hurricane" Edition? Seriously, this is what you came up with? First of all, the Scorpions are on Line 1 and they aren't happy. Secondly, I'm all for mocking hurricane victims, but even I wait at least a week. What the hell is wrong with these people?

But rocking like a hurricane is like no other style of rocking! There's nothing comparable to it. And you should be thankful they didn't talk about the "Winds of Change" that Gustav was blowing.

The Scorps should be happy with any kind of attention they can get these days.

I disagree. Rocking like a Hurricane and "Rocking Out With Your Cock Out" are quite similar.

Rocking the Boat...not so much.

As a Yankees fan, I'm sad to admit that Dustin Pedroia should be the AL MVP this year. The guy is having a monster season. He's leading the AL in average, hits and runs. He's also tied for second in doubles. If he can hold on in those categories and get to the 20/20 level (he's currently at 17/17), I think he has to get the nod.

He's been one of the few bright spots in my fantasy league (as opposed to Carmona, Ortiz, Wang, Byrnes, et al), so I've been paying attention to his stats. I've also been wondering what it would be like if my team had a second baseman that gave a shit this year. Cano signed for some cash in the off-season and stopped caring. Not good times in the Bronx.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Iowa City police said a man who was driving drunk tried to bribe a police officer - with a sandwich. Police said a 25-year-old man was charged with drunken driving early Sunday morning after an officer saw him driving with his headlights off and pulled him over.

Police said the man was riding with a police officer in a squad car when he offered the officer free sub sandwiches if he could go home.

The officer declined.

And where on earth was the chick in the leather mini walking to?

Andruw Jones, who I believe is making $14 mil this year, has 14 RBI on the year. That is not a misprint.

TR said...

Don't blame Andruw Jones. He's 5 years older than what his profile says and he's going through PED withdrawal.

(You can replace "Andruw Jones" with "Adrian Beltre" and the sentence is still true.)

Or "Travis Hafner".

TR said...

We should come up with an "All-Atrophy" team. Beltre would platoon with Glaus at 3rd. Gagne would close, Guillermo Mota would be set up, Giambi would DH...

This is worthy of a post.

Agreed...get to work...I'll "supervise".

Hey, did anyone craft some prose for tonight's game, as part of this picks competition with the "House?

Geoff said...

Jerry and I will be posting our five picks for the weekend tomorrow, as we are not going to be picking tonight's game....

TR said...

I'm guessing "supervise" means "get very drunk tonight."

Fair statement?

T.J. said...

I'll get moderately sauced tonight, it is the start of football season after all.

Actually, I've got a few names to throw in there...put something in draft mode and I'll add my crap.

I'll have something up tomorrow. It's taking me a while to skim the 407 pages of the Mitchell Report...

I nominate Brett Boone at 2B.

First rule of atrophy club: You don't talk about atropy club.

Second rule of atrophy club: You can't make the team if you're no longer an active player.

Did we ever figure out how we were doing this "picks" column? If we're each picking one game I'll have my bit on the Bucs game in by tomorrow morning.
