Mats!

Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson played together for the first time in 22 years last Sunday. This qualifies as awesome. They'll play two more shows (Chicago, 9/15, and Denver, 9/22) as part of Riot Fest. They also just released a four-song EP entitled "Songs for Slim" to raise money for former guitarist Slim Dunlap, who suffered a stroke last year.

You can stream the entire set here. Pretty good way to recover from a hangover.

Dangerously close to drunk.

On Kim Jong Ill Rob....yeah. Execution was done in front of family members. Family has since disappeared. I don't think they were sent to Sandals. Possible but not likely.

I want to be Mark. Picker extraordinaire, Master of his domain. I have the afternoon with my two girls. I love them but a 100 mile bike ride is less taxing.

John Kerry's right eye is half the size of his left. Just an observation. Carry on.

Sitting in an absurdly smoky bar drafting my fantasy team. I'd rather be drinking on the beach like I should be on Labor Day weekend. At least I'm not watching two young girls.

My draft is at 7 but we just finished the first 3 keeper rounds. I have Rodgers, Spiller and Roddy White. I feel a 6-8 season coming on.

zman said...

And I expected his post to be about Wilander.

Mark said...

I have Spiller for the first time ever. Not sure how I feel about it.

T.J. said...

I, too, drafted Spiller on Friday night.

This of course means we are all fucked.

Clarence said...

I also picked up Spiller in a draft last week. There goes that one.

Oh man, the Curse of GTB about to ruin many fantasy seasons.

zman said...

Luckily the Bills have solid QB play so defenses won't stack the box against the run.

zman said...

I like to stack the box, just FYI.

Mark said...

Jesus, guys. Thanks for the heads up. Third Jagermeister of the day. This will end badly.

zman said...

I didn't see as many stacked boxes as I expected at W&M. It was much more offensively oriented. Surprising for a southern school.

T.J. said...

Mark, you are now drunk enough to take Angeldust Hernandez.

zman said...

He's the #3 TE in Fantasy Football Index, published in May I guess.

Mark said...

I actually drafted Fred Davis. Everybody smoke!

zman said...

So ... JD Salinger had only one ball?

Clarence took two naps today. He posted that info on the last thread though. I'm here to help.

Been hanging with some Brits today in Old Town. They're on the piss over on a Ryder Cup style golf tour. Been drinking since 10am. 5 of them are in a band and gigging tonight at Southsides in Old Town. This should be good. Come on out.

rob said...

southsides is where i first met my in-laws. sammy and i joined them for brunch. was still shit-hammered from the previous day, which happened to be preakness. i'm quite sure i was charming.

T.J. said...

If not head to the Nats game in a few, would've happily joined in the Old Town fun.

teddy bridgewater announcing his heisman candidacy with some authority today.

the wwl pretty pumped to have nats/mets as the sunday night game during the heat of the pennant race.

Seriously. Who are the ad wizards...ugh you know the rest...

Need a Mark update. Boded well for antics.

Sitting on the couch with a dark & stormy, Clarence. I think the fantasy draft was moderately successful. We'll see.

My daughters want to watch nascar. the hell is going on over here?

Clarence said...

Rob, I notice you are regularly omitting the question word in your interrogative statements. Is that a new trend? Seems lazy. You're better than that.

rob said...

dunno, man. i'm pretty lazy.

Clarence said...

You used to be. And maybe you still are around the house with your drawers and your dishes, but these days you are a notable go-getter in many things you do. Good for you. But between falling back on fake words like "efforting" instead of consulting your inner Roget and crap like this, it just seems like you are having your loyal readers do the heavy lifting. You're a better waiter than that.

I meant to type "writer," but seeing you come up to my table with your little monkey suit on would be great.

Haven't been drinking much, but it reads like I have.

rob said...

the fuck? you can't be bothered to write more than 3 posts a year and you're lecturing me? maybe pack some of that happy horseshit into something that shows up on the front page instead of the comments. either way, i don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to.

Clarence said...

I'm lazy. Thoroughly. You know this. I'm not running races and mountain biking and traveling the world for a mega-company. You are. I barely have the energy to chew my food. Posts are herculean tasks. Your gonna be Superboy elsewhere, give us some of that.

rob said...

the rumors of my enterprise have been greatly exaggerated. superboy? long underwear man, maybe.

Apostrophe police! And fight!
I have good/bad news teejus. Good news is it looks like I get to come back from chinaland a day earlier. If so, and this is the bad news, our rendezvous will be delayed. Have never met you but I still miss you like crazy. Baconbaking too. I just want to be a part of your family. Eatn watermelon jelly and shit.

Clarence said...

Kudos to Rob for turning a clever phrase there. Took a Twain-ism and modified it nicely. That's the spirit. May you all learn from the mini-master.

Allo Gheorgies. The Brits, or "Liquid Cosh" rocked Southsides. Including Jam tunes In the City and Down in the Tube Station as well as Love Spreads by Stone Roses.
