Dedicated to the premise that life would be better if we all took ourselves a little less seriously.

See...I killed G:TB. I took life too seriously.
tj - good article...i was unaware that locale was 2 blocks away. i admit it.
on to the "brown sugar" topic - the first that may have made it move was Catwoman of Adam West's Batman....
We wanted TJ Hooker but we would have settled for TJ Lazer. But we ended up with TJ Cinnamon.
And as far as the GZ Mosque goes, I think most Americans agree that it is their right to build a mosque there, but they should have better taste and discretion. It's not as if any religion is being outlawed.
It's anybody's "right" to build a Confederate Studies Center in the middle of Harlem. Doesn't mean it's a good idea though.
Greg expresses my opinions better than I do.
I think most intelligent people would agree with Greg's sentiment...however, 67 percent of polled Americans said that they should not be permitted to build there, which is the key distinction.
Geoff is right. "Most Americans agree" is a bit of an optimistic overstatement. Most Americans can only agree that eating KFC Famous Bowls, watching reality television, and rocking out to boy bands represent the best kind of evening.
Greg/Katty...go build a mosque.
Oh we will. We will indeed.
At the risk of sounding like a lawyer, the right to build a church anywhere you want isn't part of the First Amendment. Zoning laws prohibit all sorts of building.
So the solution is to make ground zero a national park or a national monument or something similar so that zoning laws will prohibit further construction. The noodie bar can be grandfathered in.
Igor, stop directing your comments at my life please.
OK, that got me.
At the risk of sounding like another lawyer, the constitution does prohibit laws or govt action targeting religion. The problem here is that the current zoning laws do not prohibit churches and any attempt to do so now would clearly be intended to block this cultural center, thus targeting a specific religion.
If the Jethro wanted to build Little Baby Jesus Land and Discount House of Miracles for White People two blocks from GZ, you would not hear a peep about it. Furthermore, there were no protests aganist leaving the GZ steel "cross" standing after the site was cleared. The building of the cultural center is likely in bad taste, but the response is nothing more than xenophobic, racist idiocy wrapped in the banner of false patriotism.
I will now go back to try to secure Lyndon LaRouche for the next Zman and the Teej show.
what the hell is going on here? i go on vacation and this is what happens? i'm so hungover i can't even follow this thread. give me something easier to understand.
and seriously, everyone religious is close to insane . . . the lovely and "moderate" elizabeth I of england thought that all catholic priests should be tortured and then killed. and she was the voice of reason.
Not to mention the fact that she was crazy enough to manage the Macho Man for all those years.
you say xenophobic racist idiocy like it's a bad thing?
Sports Ignorance Non Sequitur of the Day: I just read that the San Antonio Spurs have been in the NBA for 34 years and made the playoffs 30 times. This seems incredibly impressive. Of course, maybe the bar's been set pretty low by a couple of decades of watching the Bullets/Wizards.
Is the Teej dead?
The Teej has one of those awesome summertime colds. Not money.
Marls, can you book us some filler for this afternoon?
I just posted over at the Wheelhome for the first time in about 6-9months.
Teej,
I just sent you some malt liquor fillah.
Malt liquor fillah is up...now off to read what I hope is Geoff's Skins preview.
I'm thinking my Skins preview will be up tomorrow or next week. Gotta love congressional recess.
