This one's a little different. Got a text from my college-aged kidlet last night with a Spotify link to this song, with the description, "this song goes crazy". With some trepidation, I clicked the link. It's hard to describe. And a fun band name to boot. Dig on it.

Interesting. Not really my cup of tropical fuck punch, but that doesn't mean it's not good.
I enjoyed this. About a quarter of the way through I concluded that this song is what would happen if you locked the Squirrel Nut Zippers in a room with ten pounds of psychedelics and a bunch of electric instruments, and then a minute later one of the cartoon characters ate a mushroom as if to confirm my conclusion. So I'm right.
Waiting until 9:20 for this game is killing me. We couldn’t start it at 8:45?
Worst case scenario start for Gonzaga. Baylor is out for blood and Suggs already had two fouls.
Baylor is punking Gonzaga. Taking the ball from the them when they want. Also getting pretty much whatever they want on offense.
i don’t think I’ve properly appreciated davion mitchell. dude is a stud. does a lot of stuff really well, and is a physical force.
Gonzaga looks to have finally settled in. Their zone has slowed down Baylor.
Mitchell is really good. Hyper aggressive defensively while also being a really good shot creator and maker on offense.
All in all, Gonzaga has to feel pretty good.
Baylor is just better tonight. More aggressive. More confident.
phoenix and denver both +2200 to win the nba championship. crazy to waste a few bucks on those odds?
Not crazy. Lakers are the favorite in the west if they’re healthy but...
Hey Dave, with the Ken Burns documentary running, I'm curious about your thoughts on Hemingway, as a reader and a teacher. Is he still taught much? How's he viewed by you and your peers? I'll hang up and listen.
hello, friends. who do we like in the masters?
I enjoyed the headline “Yanks acquire Odor from Rangers.” I’m sure Rob’s hoping that stink stays on them all season.
I put a bet down on Fuzzy Zoeller to finish top 10. Easy money.

hey dave!
used to do some hemingway-- "hills like white elephants" and "the snows of kilimanjaro" and "the short and happy life of francis macomber" and " a clean well lighted place" come to mind, but now i teach all these non-fiction synthesis classes for college credit. there's WAY less time for literature. i still use him in creative writing class, mainly "hills" because then we play the game taboo (which is how the story works). i think kids might read "the old man and the sea" when they are younger-- i often mention it and usually a few kids know what i'm talking about. did the documentary go over his attempt to chase submarines in the gulf with a professional jai lai player (who was supposed to throw a grenade through the hatch. or his fist fight with surrealist poet wallace stevens? that's stuff i always teach my students)
that should've been a post
Hey Dave,
Yeah, the doc discussed Hemingway's submarine chasing foolishness, but the fight with Stevens wasn't mentioned or just parenthetically. I was in and out of the doc in the middle, so I may have missed. Part 3 is tonight, if anyone's interested, covering the period from 1945 to his suicide in 1961.
Also, Burns is working on a documentary on Ali scheduled to air this fall. They ran a teaser Tuesday night. Looks primo, as you'd expect.
