Where the hell is everyone?

I know TR, Z-man and his half-brother Duff Man are currently tailgating for the Patriots-Jets game, but it's still been uncomfortably quiet here at Gheorghe: The Blog for the second Sunday of the NFL season. So, in a fit of desperation, I've decided to go "Full Teej" and throw up a new post in the hopes of changing things up and generating some interest.

Listen, Carolina-Tampa Bay is only so entertaining. And I do really enjoy this clip, despite my obvious affiliation with, and love for, the University of Florida.

Miami-Minnesota is getting interesting. And Carolina is fucking awful.

Mark said...

It's looking more and more like the beginning of the Jimmy Clausen era in Carolina. Matt Moore is a Quarterbacking abortion.

TR said...

Hi Mark! Zman says hi too. It is hot as fuck in the swamps of Jersey. We are hoping for a less shitty game than I experienced last Monday.

I just washed my $15 pastrami sandwich down with a $10 Hoegaarden. Wallet says ouch.

Go Jets.

TR said...

Hispanic heritage day in NJ! 37 Jets Flight crew members gyrating to salsa musica in front of me. Que bueno.

mayhugh said...

This Ravens game is awful. I'm going to pick up some hummus for the Skins game - be back in 15.

mayhugh said...

Mike Sellers loves the hurdle move. Too bad he moves as fast as me or Swint.

mayhugh said...

Carlos Rogers with a rare catch. Nice play, buddy.

rob said...

brett favre couldn't be less interested in footballing. he killlled the vikings today.

and steve slaton, many thanks.

Blogger has stopped working on my blackberry. Not tits.

This Lions game is awesome.

T.J. said...

And Go Jets.

Clarence said...

Last red zone series was a salute to Gibbs 2.0. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Mark said...

Evidently the Chargers use Legedu Naanee as their Wildcat QB. That guy is awesome on a number of levels. And Ryan Mathews may have what coaches call "a fumbling problem".

T.J. said...

Brady has way too much time.

Welker just got pummeled.

T.J. said...

GGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAATORS WEAR JEEEEEAN SSSSSHHHHHHHHHORTZ!!!!

T.J. said...

Jets had 3 snaps in 1st quarter - Pats 23.

Clarence said...

Cake getting some iPod commercial love. Nice, Apple.

rob said...

joey galloway's still alive?

Clarence said...

Samsung goes with a Human League remix. Not too Shabby. Now that FM radio is dead, you can just watch TV. It's like the oldies station.

mayhugh said...

Skins just need to score from 70 yards out, instead of 10.

T.J. said...

I hate Wes Welker.

mayhugh said...

McNabb looking a shade better than last week.

Clarence said...

Yeah - Galloway's older than most of the guys who comment here and he just beat a CB on a deep route. Take a lesson, youngsters.

rob said...

i have matt schaub and chris cooley on my fantasy team, and i'm playing against clinton portis. this game's gonna drive me nuts.

T.J. said...

Hey Braylon Edwards, act like you've been there before. Jackass.

T.J. said...

By the way, week 2 of the Jason Campbell Era in Oakland is going as well as week 1.

mayhugh said...

Don't take this away from Fred, refs.

T.J. said...

Wow - the Redskins have 20 points. At halftime.

mayhugh said...

Clinton Portis has something like 8 carries for 2 yards, and 2 TDs.

Dave said...

hey dudes--

just got back from camping with all my cousins-- most of whom were kids, we made it back just in time to coach alex and ian's soccer team, and then i'm off to work and more soccer try-outs tomorrow, then alex and ian's practice after practice.

i miss summer dave.

Clarence said...

I smell a Greasetruck song.

Due out next July.

Marls said...

While in Europe for two weeks, I had one of my fantasy teams autodrafted for me. I ended up with Brett Farve. Considering my recent fantasy results, Brett's struggles can be traced directly to being on my team. If he retires after this season, bottles of scotch will be accepted as thanks.

mayhugh said...

What on earth has gotten into LaRon Landry?

T.J. said...

Tom Brady, crafty asshole.

Mark said...

Seneca Wallace managed to lose the game in a very Delhomme-esque way for Cleveland today.

I really wish I was watching Pats-Jets instead of Jags-Chargers.

Mark said...

Clay Matthews has 6 sacks on two games this season. Impressive and very PEDish.

T.J. said...

Kidney stones will not stop Neil Rackers.

Mark said...

One more thought: Carson Palmer is fucking horrendous. When does this become a bigger story? (Somehow, it's not even a story at this point.) He is the weak link on the Bengals right now.

T.J. said...

It was discussed quite a bit today in Jerome's Sports Cave. He blows.

Mark said...

Its crazy how awful he's become. Missing wide open receivers all day. There was a throw he missed to 85 in the endzone early on that I could've completed. And he missed it BAD.

Mark said...

And him sucking is made even more interesting by his little brother being the backup QB. He should be benched if this continues, but can they really bench him for his little brother?

T.J. said...

That knee injury changed his career arc...and benching a qb for his brother is bad enuff in Pop Warner. It would be beyond emasculating in the pros.

mayhugh said...

With the division he's in, I think Palmer will get a pass from commentators for a couple more weeks as they credit opposing defenses too much.

T.J. said...

Brady to Welker is so irritating to watch...because it's so damn precise and on the money every fucking time.

mayhugh said...

McNabb is playing his balls off.

T.J. said...

Cooley Zone.

T.J. said...

McNabb - 18/23 for 340 yds and a TD.

T.J. said...

Bruce Gradkowski is now throwing TD passes for the Raiders.

T.J. said...

LdT is determined to prove he's not washed up.

mayhugh said...

Is Campbell hurt, or removed for other reasons?

The Skins' top 4 tacklers today are, in order, FS, SS, CB, CB. That's not encouraging. They were the top tacklers even before Houston mostly abandoned the run.

Mark said...

He's been terrific in what little I've seen of him with the Jets. As for Gradkowski, he'll throw some terrible picks but he'll also get you some long TD passes. At this point, he's more of a positive offensive option for Oakland than Jason Campbell, aka Checkdown Charlie.

Mark said...

IN CFB news, Case Keenum is out for the year with a torn ACL. Annnnd, so is his backup.

Mark said...

David Garrard. 4 ints in 3 quarters. Not good. Somewhere Todd Bouman is laughing...and drinking.

T.J. said...

Who's he think he is, Joe Flacco?

Clarence said...

Way to answer, Skins. I see your drive and score, and I counter with my pants-wetting.

Mark said...

There's a fat guy on the Chargers named Mike Tolbert who is kind of nasty. 13 carries for 73 yards and a TD.

mayhugh said...

Ugh. Can they ever just win comfortably? I never get to just enjoy a fourth quarter.

T.J. said...

Sanchize has been money today.

Mark said...

Make that 2 TDs. Can CBS please switch me to Pats-Jets?

T.J. said...

BRAYLON EDWARDS STOP BEING A FUCKING DOUCHE.

mayhugh said...

They showed Portis on the sidelines testing his wrist to see if he could hold on to the ball. So, probably a good idea to have him in there in a 7 point game.

Clarence said...

Criminy. Bags of suck.

mayhugh said...

Schaub really doesn't like to get hit.

mayhugh said...

Here's where it would be helpful to have a running game.

Mark said...

Phillip Rivers is pretty good. Vincent Jackson or not.

mayhugh said...

I am miserable.

Mark said...

Have some hummus. It will be okay.

mayhugh said...

Probably an excellent idea, though it was meant to be Victory hummus.

Marls said...

I know this has been discussed in this space before, but what the fuck is Tom Brady thinking with that hair. As a bald man I think it is a fucking abomination that somebody with a full head of hair would do something that stupid.

Marls is fired up. I like it.

mayhugh said...

DAMNDAMNDAMNDAMNDAMN

T.J. said...

Andre Johnson. Oh my.

T.J. said...

Reed got abused.

rob said...

andre johnson is a beastly, beastly beast.

T.J. said...

J-E-T-S!!!

Marls said...

Braylon may be a douche, but he is a good douche today.

Thanks for the support Mark. The champagne of beers is fueling my late afternoon buzz in prep for manning bowl.

Clarence said...

Between this collapse and the Williams injury, the 6-10 prognosis is back.

rob said...

they're gonna lose this fucking game, aren't they?

curse of lds

T.J. said...

Bieber Brady can eat a bag of dicks.

Mark said...

Just saw Johnson's catch. He's a monster.

Jim Zorn still has no idea why Matt Turk just did that.

mayhugh said...

GAME OVER MAN

Clarence said...

Arian Foster is due to cough one up.

Greg said...

I saw Victory Hummus open for the Northern Alliance at Skaktoberfest'02

mayhugh said...

Need a miracle.

mayhugh said...

Like another kidney stone.

mayhugh said...

I'd go for it here. Skins haven't stopped bupkus.

mayhugh said...

Are they going to fake it? Draw offsides?

mayhugh said...

Are they going to fake it? Draw offsides?

T.J. said...

WTF Kubiak?

mayhugh said...

That was gutless. Zorn-esque even.

T.J. said...

Turk is on the take.

Mark said...

Kubiak has money on the Skins.

mayhugh said...

It would be nice to have a rushing attack in this situation too.

T.J. said...

That's some b.s. right there.

mayhugh said...

The difference between Trent Williams and Stephen Heyer is like the difference between Hannah Storm and Linda Cohn.

mayhugh said...

I put the chances of Gano making this at 5%. First year, long, just had one blocked.

T.J. said...

Graham, you want to be a hero?

mayhugh said...

I actually think the icing move was a bad idea there. He knows he can make it now.

T.J. said...

This game is EPIC.

Mark said...

Wow. Nice ice.

mayhugh said...

that was awful. I'm calling in sick tomorrow.

T.J. said...

Don't forget Kubiak punted and did sneaky TO. Sneaky genius or drunken buffoon?

Clarence said...

How scared was Schaub?

Mark said...

Are we talking about you now TJ?

mayhugh said...

Effing Chris Horton.

T.J. said...

Sneaky genius.

Clarence said...

If Calvin Johnson's was incomplete, so was that.

mayhugh said...

It's a catch.

mayhugh said...

No way does this get overturned.

Clarence said...

New regime. Same result. Daniel Snyder must disappear. And I don't mean behind a 5' hedge.

zman said...

It took me 15 seconds to decide that I will like Boardwalk Empire. The opening credits use a Brian Jonestown Massacre song.

d-train said...

d-train said...

no more nfl betting for a while.

Clarence said...

D-train, I know Buck is one of the Wrens; TWalt69 is likely another . . . who's the 3rd?

d-train said...

one of our usual tipsters couldn't make it...TNT, Tony T., will be filling in...(don't remember his #)

Clarence said...

Nice. A worthy inclusion. Best of luck on the links, and it sounds like you may learn an SAT word or two.

d-train said...

maybe one year we'll do the tpi in outer banks...the obgt. the happiest of bdays to you. will look forward to on-site reports from the able gtb staff.

Dave said...

so glad i didn't stay up for the giants game.

just finished the cuts for the eighth grade soccer team . . . some sad kids walking around EB, but did talk to a hot mom after the game and her son made it, so that was a good pick.

Clarence said...

Thanks, D-train. I will attempt to document it just a smidge for the GTBers... with no hard evidence being recorded, natch.
