Happy Labor Day

Perhaps Mark has a college football post in the works, but I'm not sure, so let this poorly chosen clip serve as a placeholder until something better comes along (hopefully)...

  1. I would've preferred a Kathleen Turner Overdrive clip.

  3. I'm efforting a CFB post, but "work" keeps getting in the way. Total bullshit, I know.

    ReplyDelete
  4. d-train, that website has been tweeted.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Norv Turner Overdrive was...mediocre.

But everyone once in awhile Norv stuck to the bass guitar and let Jerry rock it on the mic. That's when they made their sweetest music.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Ike Turner Overdrive could really beat that drum.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Not like the Nat Turner Overdrive though.

  8. Sir Isaac Newton, the father of modern science immortalized in The Sounds of Science, "never married and is believed to have been asexual, being highly engrossed in his studies and work."

In his next life, he returned as a co-ed at The College of William & Mary.

  9. your william & mary wrens play @ uva, @ richmond, @ syracuse, and @ unc this season. wooooo, doggie.

  11. Also around the tri-corner...

    Researchers: Williamsburg colonists buried pets
A finding from the College of William and Mary may change attitudes about how colonists treated their pets.

Laboratory analysis at the college has found that some bone fragments recovered this summer in unmarked graves on campus belonged not to humans but to dogs, buried two centuries ago.

The finding is apparently unprecedented. Colonists were not previously known to have buried their pets in formal graves.

In other news, the College of William & Mary has cut the Archaeology program after realizing what they are spending their time doing.

  12. As Geoff mentioned, Malcolm Kelly injured his hamstring. Again. And now he's on IR, done for the year.

It seems he tore his hammy, or as Redskins.com writer Gary Fitzgerald wrote on the website:

"Mike Shanahan indicated that Kelly had teared his hamstring early in camp.

Really? He teared his hamstring? Was that on the same play when McNabb throwed him the ball and he falled down? For fuck's sake, man. Maybe on Chester Douchebuckle's 5th grade Skins Fan Club blog, that'll slide, but on the Redskins' official site? That really maked me wonder.

  13. this pet thing sounds fishy. if the graves were unmarked, then who cares? it's hot and humid in williamsburg-- you're not going to let a dog rot and fester in the sun, you're going to bury it. so what? i do not think this warrants a news story.

and if you haven't been to "sentence of dave" today, you'll find plenty of other stuff that doesn't deserve to be in print.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yeah, what are your options for dead pet disposal other than burial? Cremation? Dinner? Nail it to your friend's door?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Zman, definitely option D. Nail it to the door! While hurling various pieces of fruit at it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I concur. Nailing it to the door is definitely the way to go...

  17. Five legitimate articles in the past 37 days from Bill Simmons? That's just about one a week! I guess he reads the comments at G:TB and got motivated to actually write again instead of just casting pods.

Speaking of which, I'm surprised no one has cast a pod here recently. Another recurring bit bites the dust.

  18. okay...just did a little pruning in the yard. my wife will never have me do that again which was my aim. i'm off to swim for a spell. when i return, i do expect to have our cfb post. thank you.

  19. If you're buying a car and trying to figure out whether or not to pony up the extra cash for xenon headlights, don't do it. You need a Ph.D. in electrical engineering to replace the bulb. Which cost about $180 each. I am bitter.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Whatever preview you have coming, you may want to grab Geoff's input on Desmond Howard's suit-shirt-tie ensemble. He looks like an absolute dandy. In a good way.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Heading over shortly to Jerome's Sports Cave for multiple tv cfb viewing fun.

    D-train, hop on a plane...

    ReplyDelete
  22. And TJ, we may want to discuss taking in a Piranha-Machete double feature. Camp is in, this summer.

    ReplyDelete
  23. TJ - I'll see you in the car.

    ReplyDelete
  26. miami of ohio...wow -did you guys see the fake punt?

if things stay as is, it will be a very poor start to the wagering season.

    ReplyDelete
  27. the teej - would love to. not sure it would be worth the homelessness though.

    ReplyDelete
  28. This Serbia/Croatia game is absurd.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  31. Tribe game, 330, CSNE on DirecTV.

    ReplyDelete
  32. yeah, i'm all over the tribe game.

the biggest improvement thus far, early in this nd game, is brian kelly's attire. no 4X hoody sweatshirt with matching pants. nice job bk.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The Cardinals cut Matt Leinart in favor of Derek Anderson. Crazy.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  51. geoff - i hope you're right about vt...but i don't see them winning.

the lack of visibility between the teej, and mark, of all days, is disappointing. i may have to cancel my subscription to this site.

on a fitness note - no more training. why? well, skechers shape-ups of course. getchyaself some.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Shape ups aren't just effective...they also look sharp.

Mark is on the twitter machine tonight...but can't make time for G:TB apparently.

I don't know much about much, but I think that thing on Beamer's neck is more than Boise St. can handle.

    ReplyDelete
  53. what is mark's twitter machine handle? i love finding new people to follow on the twitter machine.

    ReplyDelete

and who woulda thunk robert gibbs was such a big fball freak? he's a war eagle and all over the twitter machine. i bet he was fun to hang out w/in college.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The Redskins 53 man roster is now available. Ijust carefully reviewed it. Immediately takeaways: receiving corps is old, but at least they're slow; the secondary could be a real shitshow; O-line will be much better.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah, by all accounts Gibbs is a good dude.

If I was in a band, our new album would be called Illegal Touching.

    ReplyDelete
  59. omg...are you seeing the cleavage from what's her face, the espn sideline chick in oregon state game? she's a hawg.

    ReplyDelete
  60. In a lisp off between Mike Mayock and Lou Holtz...who ya got?

    ReplyDelete
  72. I find that the drunk driving ads where the window rolls down and alcohol comes pouring out make me want a drink. Is this indicative of a problem?

    ReplyDelete
  73. is there anyone else out there that think pouncey is caught up in a point shaving scheme?

    ReplyDelete
  74. geoff - only if you don't want to drink.

i thought about that commercial for about 10 min today...that's a lot of effort and $ to make a little 30-sec commercial. they need to be on an episode of "how'd they do that?"

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yeah, I spent some time thinking about which car I'd want to be in and I picked the martini...because if I got bored I could swim around and eat all the olives.

    ReplyDelete
  76. speaking of drinking, and b/c i still find it fulfilling to talk about alcohol intake, i've emptied 4 bottles thus far....they were all leftovers from last season and needed to take care of some housecleaning prior to the season's ligger run. a vodka, 2 bourbon's, and a cap'ns...i AM an ironman.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I just polished off a bottle of Springbank 14 yr...it gives me what I need to sleep thru the late night cries of my children.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Whats the worst school academically in the SEC? Is it Miss St? LSU? There's a lot of competition for that honor.

    ReplyDelete
  79. very nice, but you have it backwards. the kids should have polished off the springbank so they could sleep through your football fandom.

i gotta go w/lsu...only reference point is jamarcus...not much else to say there.

    ReplyDelete
  80. wash byu on versus...shapin up to be a good one
