Wrens v. Hens is always a spirited match-up, anyway, and as Homecoming opponents go, this one rots. Apparently we liked the way the Blue Hens were sucking it up a season or two ago, but in 2010, they are eons away from the patty-cakes we should be scheduling for the masses to watch.
As has been alluded to in the G:TB comments here before, the Tribe's march to the playoffs is no cakewalk. The CAA is friggin' brutal this year, as evidenced by the I-AA standings.

The point here is to underscore the post from earlier this week; ain't no picnic at William & Mary these days, unless you count the sparkling cider and fromage outings by Crim Dell that the undergrads are relegated to lately. Catch the game if you can.
CAA Action . . . it's not bad.
I almost got into a row with a ho. Her name was Saphire.
ReplyDeleteZman still wants to discuss Crocs On A Plane...
ReplyDeleteRob...sorry to hear about your recent injury. As someone who couldn't lift or play ball for nearly 4 months earlier this year I am feeling your pain. Sucks getting old. I've been back doing both for about 2 months now and I'm just starting to feel like myself again, though I've only put back on 10 of the 17-20 lbs of muscle I lost due to the injury itself as well as the (relative) inactivity (I was able to run on the elliptical...which was necessary but mind-numbingly boring). Here's hoping you can at least do that, or maybe even swim.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think this pokes a hole in your theory that short folks are genetically superior.
ReplyDeletehttp://dixieelixirs.com/
ReplyDeletei wonder if juan williams would have been fired if he had said gators on his plane make him nervous? have i said that already?
ReplyDeletewell, i'm with teejus...crocs on a plane!
samuel jackson - sequel? hmmm?
and the dukes, after 2 horrific losses, play the wildcats of 'nova this wkd. we went from hero's to zero's pretty quickly. no bcs bowl this year i guess.
ReplyDeleteCourtesy of Work Jerry I am headed to the Ravens/Bills game Sunday. Should be a close one *cough*.
ReplyDeleteGood to see Flacco can rest his arm this week. I'd set the over-under on pass attempts at 18.5.
ReplyDeleteLuckily the Ravens don't have much of a running game with which to wear down the Bills.
ReplyDeletei thought you guys thought you were in the League of Ivy?
ReplyDeleteA public Ivy to you, JMU mouthbreather.
ReplyDeletePubic Ivy is more like it.
ReplyDeleteOr a Pubic IV. Now that's a disgusting thought.
ReplyDeleteThe good thing for the CAA is that the playoffs have expanded to 20 teams, which means that we'll get 5 in every year (if the conference stays this strong) and have the possibility of landing 6 bids.
ReplyDeleteThe real top 10 teams in 1-aa probably includes 6 from the CAA. The polls might not work out that way because we'll all pick up losses in the conference.
The Tribe has 5 tough games remaining, one of which is a likely loss at UNC. Winning 2 of the conference games (UD, @UNH, @JMU, and UR) probably gets us in the playoffs at 7-4. Winning all 4 would give us the #1 or #2 seed.
CAA : FCS as
ReplyDelete: FBS
OPP?
ReplyDeleteopp...sure. that works.
ReplyDeleterob, sorry to hear about your injury-- what happened? and why did the orthodontist prohibit you form sports?
ReplyDeletetore a muscle in my calf playing softball. my orthodontist is very, very confused.
ReplyDeletephil hughes playing the role of ebby calvin laloosh
ReplyDeletethis home plate ump is brutal
ReplyDeletejesus h christ is this umpiring an embarrassment
ReplyDeleteHave we figured out why major league pitchers wear these goofy rope necklaces?
ReplyDeleteBrian Gorman should be fired between innings.
ReplyDelete'and hell's coming with me'. tombstone on tnt right now.
ReplyDeleteSo ... let's stop walking the go-ahead run?
ReplyDeleteSeason. Over.
ReplyDeleteI have torn a calf muscle before (Gastroc). Bummer. I'd say you'll be out 3 months but you're old as fuck so maybe its 4.
ReplyDeleteThe necklaces that Z was talking about look like a bad cross between hemp necklaces and froendship bracelets. Terrible. Like Ernie Johnson doing play-by-play.
gastroc is the one, mark. not good times.
ReplyDeleteDid Jeter just ground out, weakly, on the first pitch? WTF?
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone here has seen the new Golden State unis.
ReplyDeleteAl Attles approves.
Terrible times, Roberto. Happened to me 4 years ago.
ReplyDeletewhy johnny ringo, you look as if somebody walked over your grave
ReplyDeleteYou're no daisy... you're no daisy at all.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe Ike from Tombstone is the evil futuristic general with the big scar in Avatar.
when's the last time rivera pitched the bottom of the 8th down 5 runs? this is just weird.
ReplyDeleteAs I said last month, when most of your team's "clutch" players hit below .270, your postseason chances ain't good.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I will root hard for the Rangers in the Series. They are a likable team. I think it would be fun to party with Ron Washington and (an off the wagon) Josh Hamilton.
The real question here is if our offensive woes inspire us to make a run at Carl Crawford. A Cliff Lee run is a given, but Crawford remains an uncertainty.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest issue with Girardi is his braces. He looks like a tool. As my wife said, "Why wouldn't he wear Invisalign?"
ReplyDeletea-rod looking to end it. lovely. happy yankee elimination day, everyone.
ReplyDeleteI don't see Crawford as an uncertainty at all. They're gonna throw a fuckton of cash at him.
ReplyDeleteThanking God plays big in Texas.
ReplyDeleteDesmond Howard sounds extra nasally today.
ReplyDeleteHow did we get the B team of CAA announcers? These guys don't know the names of the players on either team. Lots of "#23......... uh....Terrance Riggins"
ReplyDeleteGreat goal line defense by the Tribe after getting screwed on the fumble call.
navy's gonna drop notre dame from their schedule - the rivalry's become too one-sided.
ReplyDeleteTribe game is nailbiter...
ReplyDeletetexas is getting waxed at home by iowa state? what in the sam hill is going on here?
ReplyDeleteThis Navy-ND score made my day. The Mich St-NW score, on the other hand, is perplexing.
ReplyDeletewhat channel is the tribe?
ReplyDeleteThat weird direct tv comcast channel - 630
ReplyDeleteThey have a FG chance to win...
ReplyDeleteYeah...the nd game is really making my day. Just ask my wife. And yes msu NW perplexing as was the line or so I thought. Good times in the house of danimal.
ReplyDeleteHooked a 42 yarder. Miss. Suck it Blue Hens. Suck it Rich Gannon.
ReplyDeleteWow...u see that msu catch
ReplyDeleteWow...u see that msu catch
ReplyDeleteTribe hangs on b/c Hens miss a 42 yd figgie w/ 30 secs left. The Burg will go apeshit! Actually, it won't. But Whit will.
ReplyDeletecouldn't find the tribe game, but i like the result. that's a great big huge giant win.
ReplyDeletewhit's a killer.
ReplyDeletewhit's a mess.
Crazy MSU catch. Announcers didn't get excited enough.
ReplyDeleteSlapshot reference, Rob?
ReplyDeleteRob, way to work a subtle Slap Shot reference into this college football thread.
ReplyDeleteRob, way to work a subtle Slap Shot reference into this college football thread.
ReplyDeleteGreat pair of games later today and tonight. A liquor store trip will be in the cards soon.
ReplyDeleteThat td could end up making my day....wow
ReplyDeleteNot sure if NW let MSU score on purpose, but it really plays into their hands. They'll be down 8 with a minute left.
ReplyDeleteTribesmen--congrats. Huge win.
ReplyDeleteI sent my 8-mo pregnant wife earlier. Luv u honey bunny.
To the liquor store that is. Msu covering like that is real real naace
ReplyDeleteWho will ever replace Verne lundquist?
ReplyDeleteThat was a really good win for the Tribe. Delaware is tough -- extremely solid D and they don't make mistakes. I wouldn't be shocked at at all if Delaware or Villanova won the national championship and we just beat both of them in consecutive weeks.
ReplyDeleteUNH and UMass are playing at Gillette. Weird.
ReplyDeletethe big east and the acc should really be 1-aa conferences
ReplyDeleteLots of liquor store trips for the G:TB crew. I made mine last night. This is an underrated CFB Saturday. Notre Dame getting waxed by Navy is just icing on the cake. Unfortunately, I'm going to a local church fall festival with the family in about an hour. Going to miss the second half of Auburn-LSU and Iowa-Wisconsin. Bummer.
ReplyDeleteWill rally strong with night games and UFC tonight though.
Have I ever mentioned how much I miss Cam Newton?
ReplyDeletechurch fall festival, huh? didn't see that coming. mark's full of surprises. a real renaissance man.
ReplyDeleteIt's like the fair, basically. Rides, fatty foods, carnies. Good times, kind of. Its at the church I was forced to attend in my youth. A beloved local tradition.
ReplyDeleteTold the future wife and step daughter we'd meet my sister and her kids earlier in the week. Didn't fully think it through, obviously.
no worries. i'm dropping the kids off at their dance studio and taking the wife on a date. i'll miss much of the evening action, too. might get lucky, though.
ReplyDeletecam newton wouldn't be any good at all in urban meyer's offense, nosiree.
ReplyDeleteNick Fairley is a fucking monster. Does Auburn have a secret lab where they genetically engineer defensive tackles?
ReplyDeleteWhy's everyone hatin on Irish? Jmu about to lose 3rd. W and m will kill them. Rob keep us posted on ADA-AFTER DATE ACtion
ReplyDeleteluck and a missed tackle kept les miles from another clock disaster
ReplyDeleteDanimal celibate w wife 8 mos prego, geoffs favorite word

ReplyDeleteCam Newton > Sir Issac Newton > Fig Newton
ReplyDeleteDid NOT see that Tribe win coming at all, and unfortunately didn't get to watch a minute of it. Did Callahan start the game?
ReplyDeleteTommy Callahan?
ReplyDeleteGary danielson just said "balls deep" I'm on TiVo mind u
ReplyDeleteJimmye made the QB switch halfway through the 3rd. Paulus was playing OK, but we only had 3 points at the time. We had been moving the ball in a struggling kind of way. We scored a TD on Callahan's 1st drive to cut the lead to 3. Callahan wasn't measurably better but he did hit on a couple of 30 yard plays, which we really needed because it's tough to drive on DEL.
ReplyDeleteDefense came up big - stopped Delaware 2x at the end when we were up 1 (the latter stop resulted in the missed FG). Offense had a chance to ice it with 3 minutes left, but went 3 and out.
Farely is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteWisconsin/Iowa is also ridiculous.
ReplyDelete400 yds rushing by Auburn?
ReplyDeleteUm, wow.
And Rangers-Bruins is about to get underway.
ReplyDeleteI can't see the LSU-Auburn game but judging from the Twitter machine it sounds like Les Miles is doing Les Miles type things. And Nebraska-Okie state is burning the barn.
ReplyDeleteDid you lose the ring toss? How is the fried dough? Which carny games have the huge Pink Panther?
ReplyDeleteMiles made a semi-controversial decision to go for it rather than punt, which I agreed with. 4th and medium, down 7 with ~3 minutes left around their own 35. Made sense to me because I didn't think they'd get the ball back if they punted.
ReplyDeleteThey called a TO to set up the 4th down play and couldn't get the personnel/formation right. Resulted in a sloppy play that went nowhere.
UT 7- Bama 0
ReplyDeletethat was too easy..
vandy students must be studying...no one there...
ReplyDeletei think my dad and his neighbor are announcing.
TJ seems very jealous of Mark's fried food opportunities this evening. Something tells me Mark won't take advantage of these the way The Teej would.
ReplyDeleteCan they just finish up all the rest of the baseball games tomorrow? I'm really not jazzed about not being able to watch syndicated sitcoms that I've seen at least a dozen times before.
ReplyDeleteErin has had the same outfit on all day. I wonder if she freshened up down there.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone's footballed out for today, "Outlaw" is on NBC right now. Enjoy it while you can.
ReplyDeletemissouri lookin good.
ReplyDeletefyi - "dtrain" the name, given by current 2nd in command at missouri ath dept...former bff, pre-winchester...now you know.
tryin to figure out how to view porn on wife's computer w/out her knowin about it? any experts out there?
ReplyDeleteYou are right Mayhugh. I only indulged in some Zeppolis tonight. And some ribs, but those weren't fried. And I won my a couple goldfish for the kids I was with. Who's awesome ?
ReplyDelete>this guy<
Mizzou's hanging with OU so far. I like it. And UNC-Miami looks to be a pretty solid game as well. If the UFC event isn't total crap, tonight's gonna work out well.
ReplyDeleteAnd oh yeah, there's baseball on too. Guess I'll flip to that now and again.
D...I'm a porn expert but not a covert porn expert. Luckily, my lady's pretty open minded.
ReplyDeleteNot that any of you care, but Jerryd Bayless was traded to the Hornets tonight. I can not wait to watch him and Chris Paul in the same backcourt.
ReplyDeletejaime moreno became the mls' all-time leading goal-scorer in the final game of his career this evening. that's pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI don't think facts like this are helping you get lucky tonight, Rob.
ReplyDeleteno, but the little lady just went next door to have a couple more drinks with the neighborhood womenfolk. that will.
ReplyDeleteIs she getting lucky with them or u? And has the torn calf muscle inhibited things?
ReplyDeleteCalf tear made it tough, not impossible though.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of little ladies, my 10 year old niece is sleeping over tonight. She's an inch short than the future wife. Future wife is a tiny, tiny person.
I'm watching the baseball.
ReplyDeleteTonight may have been the final episode of Outlaw.
Baseball has moved to 2nd TV status, thanks to UNC being fucking terrible.
ReplyDeletedoes joe buck have aids?
ReplyDeletethat strike call to ishikawa was laughable
ReplyDeleteAnyone else having audio issues on ok game?
ReplyDeleteThe audio issues with Mizzou-Oklahoma are killing me.
ReplyDeleteGirlier name, Aubrey or Whitney?
ReplyDeleteBallgame. Glad to hear audio issue isn't just me. Thought maybe these shrooms were really f'n w the danimal
ReplyDeleteAbout half of my extended family went to Missouri. That said, their stadium sucks and Columbia sounds terrible as major college towns go. No wonder Quin Snyder had to cheat his ass off to get recruits to come play for him. I bet Gary Pinkel is crooked as shit too.
ReplyDeleteaubrey, but it's close.
ReplyDeletetense baseball game, tight in missouri. nice sporting evening.
Not to sound unpatriotic, but is it really necessary to have 'God Bless America' sung during the 7th inning stretch of every game?
ReplyDeletethat's yet another reason to hate the yankees, mark.
ReplyDeleteThe gift that keeps on giving. Just like herpes.
ReplyDeleteAs much as loather FSU, I do really like Buster Posey. Hell of a player.
ReplyDeleteuribe! did not see that coming.
ReplyDeletesay, tim, you got a joint?
ReplyDeletebe a lot cooler if you did.
Damn. Mizzou looks legit.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I think Columbia sucks as a college town, I bet the scene is pretty kickass tonight.
ReplyDeleteIt was "Goal Posts Drink for Free" night:
ReplyDeleteThousands of yellow-clad fans stormed the field even before the end of the Sooners' final, desperate play, hauling one goal post and part of the other to a local tavern after Missouri won 36-27 on Saturday night.
Wow. Albert Haynesworth just made one helluva play, using the guard to knock over cutler. That came out of nowhere.
ReplyDeleteHaynesworth seems to have decided to play today. But the Skins need to capitalize on this ineptitude. Mcnabb finding defenders' hands with the same radar Rypien used to have.
ReplyDeleteRavens game not going as well for their fans as expected...or us in the fans rooting for the Bills.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to lose my survivor pool, it might as well be at the game I picked.
ReplyDeleteWow do the Ravens look overmatched. It's surreal.
If I were to lose my survivor pool, it might as well be at the game I picked.
ReplyDeleteWow do the Ravens look overmatched. It's surreal.
I hate to be a rob and talk fantasy football, but I have already lost this week's game because of Roddy White and Todd Heap. It's literally over. Wow.
ReplyDeleteNo complaints thus far on bouman...he's very solid....pretty amazing. And his wife is a solid 9.5.
ReplyDeleteBouman is 14-22 for 175 yds 2tds and no picks
ReplyDeleteBouman's a badass. As the archives of G:TB will tell you, Dan.
ReplyDeleteWow, great pick DeAngelo. That throw was really lazy.
ReplyDeleteArthur Blank listens to The Go! Team?
ReplyDeleteMcNabb looks like absolute poop today.
ReplyDeleteI hate to be a rob and talk fantasy football, but I have already lost this week's game because of Roddy White and Todd Heap. It's literally over. Wow.
ReplyDeleteUncle Month is wearing stoopid purple and the Bills are about to lose by 14. Sorry zman and work jerry (who is two feet from me).
ReplyDeleteJinx. Pick 6
ReplyDeleteMaking Mike Martz look astute is difficult to do. Kudos, Skins.
ReplyDeleteCutler just threw the worst pass in the history of professional football.
ReplyDeleteThank God DeAnglo was covering the play instead of Rogers.
ReplyDeleteI had just switched out the Darrell Green jersey for the Riggo one two plays ago. Wow. There may be something to this.
ReplyDeleteLike what? You're too old to wear jerseys?
ReplyDeleteNO has practically doubled Cleveland in every offenseive statistic that is typically meaningful, except for points (which is always meaningful) where Cleveland has doubled NO. Weird.
ReplyDeleteEd. Reed.
ReplyDeleteGano. Gone.
ReplyDeleteCan't imagine he's a Redskin by Tuesday.
The Redskins should have 50 points. This is atrocious.
ReplyDeletelistened to most of this game on the drive to williamburg (wait, homecoming was yesterday?). really glad i didn't have to watch it, although the last 10 minutes have been a comedy of ineptitude. nice hands, laron.
ReplyDeletewow, jay cutler really, really sucks
ReplyDeleteDeAngelo Hall.
ReplyDeleteZman, hope you had some issues with Time Warner cable today.
ReplyDeleteThere's been an inordinate amount of spectacular interceptions today. And, I guess, some pretty shitty QBing.
ReplyDeleteCan the Raiders blow a 38 point lead? I say yes.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure nobody cares, but Kenny Britt and his 7 receptions for 225 yards and 3 TDs has been resting comfortably on my fantasy bench all day. Nice work by me. I'll know better the next time Ken's in a bar brawl on Friday morning.
ReplyDeleteMark, don't know about you but I need Phil Rivers to get his ass in gear and throw a couple TD strikes in the 4th.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course he throws one to gates, whom I'm playing against.
ReplyDeleteI couldve used another TD toss or two from Rivers. For sure. One to Patrick Crayton wouldve been even better. Sadly, Phillip's having to do a little too much on his own these days.
ReplyDeleteOakland mustered 508 yards of offense?
ReplyDeleteThe Pats mustered 179 yards of offense?
ReplyDeleteThe Bills mustered 506 yards of offense?!?
ReplyDeleteCincy and Atlanta combined for over 900 yards of offense?
ReplyDeleteLooks like I picked a great Sunday to agree to dinner at the zmom's.
ReplyDelete
