I originally intented to just put up the MF Doom "Kookies" video with the "Funky Chimes" sample to bridge the gap between the Bert and Ernie video, Music Month, and the recurring children's video bit. But then I found this. Not quite as good as Bert and Ernie, but lots better than Starship.

You leave Starship alone.
Last night after midnight Teejay and I had this e-mail exchange:
TJ: What's up?
Me: I just found out that Napoleon Dynamite's Uncle Rico is also Lazlo Hollyfeld. I am just stunned.
TJ: Dynomite
[30 seconds later he replies again]
TJ: Wait....what? No way
No way
No way
It's true. And he and I should have known this before now. We pride ourselves on knowing worthless crap like that.
Sadly, that is EXACTLY how the conversation went...
i am very, very disappointed in myself for not knowing that fact about uncle rico. very disappointed. next thing you'll tell me is that the actor who played chris knight starred in other films.
Wow. I picked that up immediately, even though Rico never slid in and out of closets in the flick.
And you call yourself a Real Genius fan. I bet you can't even name anything else that Mitch Kramer has been in. Has he been in anything? IS he still alive? Was his face partially deformed? Why did he not bang the cougar? Seriously, why didn't he? Did Chris Knight bang the cougar before? Was it a sloppy seconds thing? Somebody should go to the Best Buy where Mitch Kramer is selling stereos and ask him.
mitch kramer was in 'dazed and confused'. mitch taylor (played by gabriel jarrett) was in 'real genius'.
and through the magic of the internet, we learn that gabriel jarrett was also in 'frost/nixon', 'apollo 13', an episode of l.a. law, 'karate kid, part iii', a 21 jump street episode, and a whole bunch of crap.
tr not emphatically stating the case for his 'real genius' fandom.
knight clearly banged the cougar. he's chris freaking knight.
The Hilary Swank Karate Kid?
This US/Cameroon game is poop.
hey, beltway buddies: which way would you go on the beltway to get from leesburg to fedex field if you were leaving at 4:00 on a tuesday afternoon?
Mitch Kramer should always be referred to as Mitchy, Mitchy, Miiiitchy the way the seniors did.
I did know that Mitch Taylor was in Apollo 13 -- he's in the control room with a line or two, looking way less dweeby than his old self.
You gotta go up top, right?? Northside?
You want no part of the Mixing Bowl and Wilson Bridge, plus I think it's longer distance.
normally, but traffic's often a clusterfuck that way. don't know if the other way is better.
Going to see Bono & the boys tonight? I will be seeing them in C'ville Thursday night.
For any readers out there, general admission field tix were selling on Stubhub.com for $40-50 as of yesterday...
Rob, recent U2 set lists look like you'll hear 7 songs from the new record. And don't be surprised not to hear "Pride." They randomly stopped playing it 6 or 7 shows ago. I'm fired up, though.
You've got to go to the high (bethesda) side....
i am indeed going to hang out with my boy, the edge. and no less an expert than e. clifford krug has weighed in to cast a vote for the woodrow wilson bridge. i'll let you know how it goes.
Cliff is dumb. They are doing even more construction down that way.
i drove through there a week ago - the construction wasn't impacting the flow of traffic.
I saw Mitch Kramer at Buck's Super Stereo World. I was looking for a subwoofer and when he showed me one he said "You hear the bass right? It kicks. It curls. It makes you want to get freaky-deaky, right?"
Whatever tiny...go the way you want...this isn't Gheorghe: The Traffic Blog...
Hilary Swank was in The Next Karate Kid, with the good bad guy from Airborne. That was the fourth installment.
The third installment featured Danielsan vs. Bad Boy Mike Barnes (coached on by Sensei Kreese and the pony-tailed Terry Silver). They bloodied little Daniel's hands, broke Mr. Miagi's bonsai tree and left Daniel and his love interest to drown at the bottom of a ravine.
As you were.
The Brawny Barrister...always bringing it.
The Dolphins just acquired Thigpen...
Yancy?
Yes, they're gonna do a Thong Song remix...
I have a hotel room reserved at the Hilton Garden Inn on Richmond Road for Homecumming. I am now not going to attend said event due to a conflict I have with the annual pole smokers convention in Bridgehampton. Before I cancel said reservation...does anyone need a room for homecoming?
Tyler Thigpen ain't a bad QB. He's better than the shit sandwiches playing for the Bucs, the Panthers and the Raiders. Look at his numbers last year on a terrible Chiefs squad.
Pat White can't be feeling too good about staying in that #3 spot after Chad P. got hurt.
I guess I'm just a poser Real Genius fan after all. I guess I've always been more of a My Science Project kind of guy. Fisher Stevens' opus.
tribe @ villanova on versus saturday at 3:30.

The USC running back with the weightlifting accident is apparently doing well. I liked this part of the article from ESPN.com:
An assistant strength and conditioning coach was standing over Johnson at the time of the accident.
"I've seen players have the bar slip and fall onto their chest, but never in my 25 years of coaching have I heard of someone dropping a bar on their throat," said head strength and conditioning coach Chris Carlisle, who was standing 10 feet away at the time of the accident. "We're fortunate he was being spotted."
Oh really? Because if he wasn't being spotted he would have, uhm, hmm ... dropped the fucking bar on his neck?! What's the point of a spotter if dude winds up with a stack of 45s on his throat?!?
I wish Johnny Cochrane was alive to cook up some bizarre tort claim.
I can't properly express how excited I was to see MF Doom make his debut on G:TB...and then how disappointed I was to see that not a single person commented on it.
DoomDoomDoom.
I'll make mincemeat out of that beat Mouse.
Rob, I realize I'm too late for the traffic advice, but I would take 395N to Rte 50 to get to FedEx.
Enjoy the show--I love, love, love U2, but made a deal with myself that I would NEVER again venture to FedEx or Nissan Pavilion unless Frank Sinatra came back from the dead to perform his greatest hits.
The traffic getting in & out of those venues sends me around the bend.
Since this is music month, I'm looking forward to seeing a review in GTB tomorrow.
Sinatra's dead?
i'm at the show, and there's a dude walking around the field wearing a kansas city chiefs #13 steve bono jersey. phenomenal.
and shlara, i'm generally in agreement with your position, but my wife only turns 36 once.
The Bono KC jersey is the perfect gift for that special Chiefs/U2 fan in your life.
Farnsworth sucks.
It's much more fun to watch Farnsworth spit the bit when he's not pitching for your team.
And the Royals' D is just as bad as Farnsworth's accuracy and his new tattoos. Eric Hinske just stole second and then advance to 3rd safely after the catcher airmailed the throw into centerfield and Eric Gordon dropped the centerfielder's throw to third.
Juan Miranda (who?) steps to the plate. Let's hope he knows his rights...
Make that Alex Gordon. Or Mitch Taylor. Or something else.
...and Miranda singles off of Farnsworth's giant chicken leg. Nosotros veremos una torta en la cara de Senor Miranda en algunos minutos.
We've got pie. We've got pie.
Okay, so shame on me for not watching Zoltan's posted video here until now, but it's good. It's worth pointing out that the "funky chimes" that Z mentions the song samples (let's face it, it's more than a sample, it's the meat of the whole song) was the original closing theme to "Sesame Street" in the 70's and early 80's. Then S² replaced it with some worthless successor.
It's a very cool instrumental, and I dig it. Always have. (And you, Clarence.)
