As Geoff just said to me

this pic nicely sums up the Nats season:

H/T - the Steinbog of course

Late addition - G:TB Play Along at Home Contest

What, pray tell, is Mr. Lerner doing in the photo below? Does he have in invisible Playstation PSP? Are his the world's smallest thumbs? Is he measuring Rob Dibble's head? Your guesses in the comments, please. Winner gets a copy of the new Kids in the Hall DVD, or Stan Kasten's nail clippings, whichever costs less.

it's hard to overestimate the top to bottom futility of the nats' organization. it's a foregone conclusion that strasburg is a bust, right?

T.J. said...

Brien Taylor 2.0?

Geoff said...

Strasburg's name isn't even Strasburg. Its Murray Kingsley. And he's actually 34.

rob said...

wilbon makes the point this morning that the nats erred in drafting strasburg. i see the baseball logic, but they really didn't have a choice, especially given the fact that they essentially started the public relations campaign for the kid months ago. don't draft him, and the already apathetic and annoyed fan 'base' craters.

According to this (geeky but interesting) site, the Nats have a .03% chance of making the playoffs.

The Orioles have a .3% chance.

Every other team in baseball has at least a whole percentage point. Nice metropolitan area for baseball.

I could play for this Nats team and I was a .100 hitter in little league.

Regarding the fatal shooting of a Holocaust Museum guard by a white supremacist, a peer of the murderer had this to say:

"The responsible white separatist community condemns this," he said. "It makes us look bad."

There are no words.

rob said...

i believe we need to create a gtb sitcom based on the 'responsible white supremacist community'. maybe a reverse diff'rent strokes.

rob said...

separatist, not supremacist. so hard to keep up with all the terminology.

Whitney said...

Sheesh, Rob, get it straight. Separatists merely believe that the white Gentiles should live apart from others. That they believe the blacks and Jews should reside at the bottom of the ocean is irrelevant.

rob said...

sort of a separate but equal thing, then? in that case, my apologies.

T.J. said...

I wonder what Ollie Williams would have to say about this?

Some failed white supremacist sitcom ideas:

The Patty & David Duke Show
The KKK-Team
Beavis & Skinhead
Chico and the Klan

A 49ers fan sent this to me, from an article in the SF Gate this morning. As dull as this team is, I am glad their coach provides consistent entertainment:

"There is a bowl for chewing gum in the locker room, near the equipment room, although Singletary has replaced the gum with nails."

Geoff said...

And then he took his pants off...again.

This might be the compassionate leader for the responsible white separatist community: http://tinyurl.com/mpabak

He's either demonstrating the proper technique to milk a cow, or he's being approached by an off-camera cop who is about to handcuff him.

Game 4 hot action just a hour away...Mark, have you properly stuffed the ballot box?

T.J. said...

I know nothing about soccer, but where the fuck did Real Madrid find 200 mil for Ronaldo and Kaka (ha)?

Mark said...

Not just yet. First a little chinese and then to Vitas' house to cast my ballot.

T.J. said...

Mark just wanted you all to know he is not happy with the choice of tonight's crew chief.

The Ottoman brought the entire Turkish bazaar out tonight.

T.J. said...

I really do enjoy Rashard Lewis' king tut goatee.

T.J. said...

JJ Redick did make a lot of shots in college right? That did happen?

Geoff said...

Yes...my colleague Ben also has a great Erin Andrews/Reddick hook up story via a former college teammate of JJ's.

T.J. said...

Greg still can't stop laughing at "Chico and the Klan"...

TR said...

Agreed that an ice cold pint of Hoegaarden, with a big old slice of lemon in it, is about as good as it gets.

Geoff said...

Showing WNBA commercials during the Finals is like showing abstinence ads during porn.

T.J. said...

Expect set shots.

TR said...

News flash - I am now on Twitter. Come follow me @therezdog. I promise wit and wisdom. And insults aimed at Rainn Wilson.

T.J. said...

I got bored with twitter after 48 hours.

Greg said...

So we can deduct that Erin Andrews was peed on.

T.J. said...

Tony likes that shot. He wants to give that shot a promise ring.

Geoff said...

No...Erin was insistent on having safe sex and JJ didn't have a condom...and hijinx ensued.

T.J. said...

I hate these Prius ads.

Geoff said...

I do too. That song makes me want to hurt woodland creatures.

T.J. said...

What do we call that, the Polish inbounds pass?

T.J. said...

OK, seriosuly, was is JJ on the court? I'm not even being a dick, what is the basketball rationale?

T.J. said...

Someone roll Lamar a fatty, he's got some free time on his hands...

GORTAT SMASH

Geoff said...

JVG thinks JJ is the new hotness. That was a sweet spazzed out assist he just had on the break.

T.J. said...

What did Rafer and JJ just discuss?

Geoff said...

What's the gayest arm movement you can make.

T.J. said...

"I'm called Skip to my Lou...what about you honkey?"

TR said...

With two inane posts already in the hopper, tomorrow looks like a day chock full of frivolity for fans of G:TB.

T.J. said...

Look at you playing Fox 5 teasers...

Geoff said...

This has got to be LA's lowest first half output of the playoffs... Maybe that one game against Houston was worse...

Geoff said...

Random thought appropos of nothing: Derek Jeter's the most over-hyped over-rated athlete of the last decade.

T.J. said...

No. Anna Kournikaova is.

And I won't argue that Jeter gets massive hype, but he is as good as advertise. Go look at his career stats.

Geoff said...

Would you honestly say he's one of the top 2 or 3 shortstops of his era?

rob said...

i think you're both a little right. jeter is a very good player, but nobody's as good as he's advertised.

and inane is too kind for the post i prepared for tomorrow.

T.J. said...

Yes. Hands down. And I believe even rob will begrudgingly have my back on this.

rob said...

getting interesting in fenway, teej.

T.J. said...

I do not have the MLB package...details?

rob said...

T.J. said...

Phil Eight Ball is terrible.

T.J. said...

Bob Costas is doing this game? I'm having a "carseat song" moment.

T.J. said...

I'm just curious, does the endorsement of Ashton Kutcher make you likely to buy a camera?

Whitney said...

Jeter with a chance to shut some G:TBers up . . . or reinforce their point.

T.J. said...

Nick Green. OK then.

Mark said...

Yeah...wow. After Game 2 I was as ready to blame the refs as anyone. Not tonight. The Magic came out flat to start the second half and then couldn't seal it at the end (through a combination of missed free throws and inept offensive execution) so they've got nobody to blame but themselves. Just an awful loss all the way around.
