Guys and gals from my graduating class are starting to turn 50. Which, in the way of things, means that I'm not all that far from that daunting milestone myself. In many ways, though, I feel pretty good about the state of my corporeal being. I'm not in the best shape of my life, but I weigh the same thing I did 10 years ago, and I can play soccer for two hours every weekend, keeping pace with dudes 15-20 years my junior. And while my memory isn't what it once was (used to be aces at trivia games, which ain't the case these days), I generally make up for it with anticipation and experience. Just got promoted, and I've learned a whole lot this year, so I've retained a capacity to pick up new tricks, older dog status notwithstanding.
I look pretty good, too, at least by my standards. Got all my hair, skin's in good shape, eyes are bright and clear. All of that's subject to change.
So I took advantage of modern technology to freeze my avatar-self in this moment of reasonable pulchritude. Eat your hearts out, Gheorghies.

Our neighborhood is unreal for Halloween and our kids go nuts decorating! Daughter made unreal GOT costumes for her brother and herself (she was Arya), and our oldest was “phantom of the opera” with a mask and played live, spooky music on keyboard as I handed out candy to nearly 1000 kids! Crazy!! People loved the music, kids out with their friends the whole time...it was stellar!

Some parent had the bright idea to give out pixie sticks last night. After trick or treating about 10 kids came back to our house to trade candy. This ended up with our spare room looking like a rainbow cocaine party that had gotten way out of hand. Cleaning up pixie stick powder caked on various surfaces is fun.I sure we'll be finding more of it in the furniture for the next six months.
Otherwise, another semi-drunken night for the adults.
our town parade was cancelled due to pending violent storms. put a bit of a damper on things here. my wife and i were scheduled to participate in the town parade, driving my mini as a clown car as part of a float. i was looking forward to it. wait 'til next year, as mets fans are wont to say.

Carlos Beltran to be the next Mets manager. They coulda had GTB-acclaimed Tim Bogar. I don’t mind Beltran; Marls will tell you that he was an underrated Met. But he tends to freeze in key situations.

Nets played a fun one against Houston tonight. Kyrie was a beast. And the Knicks lost a heartbreaker at the buzzer. Markus Morris was amazing against his old team, but it wasn’t enough. RJ Barrett looks like a future all-star.

Alex Caruso should be the starting PG for the Lakers. He’s good. The badly balding white guy thing makes him underrated. Also helps him in that same way.
I’ve only seen two bands/groups twice in a short span of time. OutKast and The Roots. I was not disappointed.
Also, Luka is fucking awesome. If and Porzingis can stay healthy...oh buddy.
I am unable to objectively judge Caruso. That hair makes it impossible. But he’s legit, I think.

I showed my kids the Chocolate Rain video, one of the original viral videos on the internet. It has blown them away and tied their brain in a knot. They’ve also played it 20 times in a day.
I don’t even think Georgia is very good. But they’re better than Florida and that makes me angry.
