Doing Nothing, Winning

As you all know, we announced our intention to take over where The Washington Post fell down, claiming the mantle as the voice of the Peeple, and saving the annual Peeps Diorama Contest. And as you also know, and knew all along, we completely failed to follow through on that idea. We ideate, but we don't execute - it's a slogan that's launched a thousand fake ships.

Little did we know, we actually did execute on this particular inspiration. In a manner of speaking.

We noted in the post linked above that the Washington City Paper intended to also pick up the Post's slack. Since they're a somewhat professional organization with an actual staff, they were better equipped to do so.

Here's where it gets a little bit Twilight Zone.

The first winner of the City Paper's revived Peeps Diorama Contest...is entitled The Peeple vs. O.J. Simpson.

As Joey from Blossom would say, "whoa!" There's an omen here. As soon as we get a minute to work on it, we'll figure out what it is.

I saw Joey from Blossom at Ruth's Chris in Maui! He was with his parents, brothers, and his brothers' girlfriends. He was rude to the hostess because he didn't like the view of the ocean from the table. He signed an autograph for a 9 year old girl though.

If the next peeps diorama is of Alfonso Ribeiro shirtless, then we will know something truly eerie is happening.

The most bizarre part of the United deboarding debacle may be the news that the guy has a daughter named Crystal Pepper, and that she seems kinda nice.

zman said...

Sounds like a cross between Crystal Lite and Dr Pepper.

Mark said...

No, no. It's Crystal Pepsi and Dr. Pepper.

And his name is Joey Lawrence. And he's a musician. Show some damn respect.

You keep doing you, NY Post

Love them or hate them, the folks at the Post have you talking about them and forwarding links to their articles.

The guy who is the subject of that article is the Douche of All Douches.

Whitney said...

Mike Love is going to argue that last point with you, TR. In a whiny, nasally voice.

This article explains why women shunned me.

Much like OJ Simpson, Aaron Hernandez is not guilty of double murder. Which team signs him?

T.J. said...

I think he's already in prison for life for, oh what was it, right, that other murder

zman said...

Oh wait, he's already guilty of another murder.

zman and the Teedge works better on the radio.

Marls, book us some guests.

Whitney said...

Let's start a radio station. ORF Rock, Zman and the Teej, The Test, the Beers/Bars/Bands/Podcast, and all the Greasetruck and Random Idiots you can stand.

T.J. said...

I am 690% here for this

Who is our station manager, Pig Vomit character? Marls?

I can contribute a show filled with crotchety rambling about crappy modern music. Marls would be a perfect station manager. I'd throw a microphone through a wall for that guy.

Tah Tah Tootie.

I'll see if Lonnie Anderson is available to work a shift.

I'll do a late night hip hop show. As long as I can smoke in the studio.

I had rabbit for the first time tonight. Really bony but good. This version was fried with sausage gravy and a biscuit.

TR said...

I've never had rabbit. Been eating a shit-ton of seafood here in Sanibel: trout, grouper, shrimp, scallops, fresh and fried oysters, lobster roll, crab legs, etc. The oysters here are amazing. Had fried oysters twice and on the half shell once. Makes me want to get extra freaky-deaky w/ the missus.

A platter of seafood that's fried well is about as good as it gets, especially w/ some Tabasco. And I'm all in on corn flake crusted seafood.

And if you made a list of the top 5 women that made a young TR know he wasn't gay (not that there's anything wrong with that), Loni Anderson would be on that list. Also on it were Ginger from Gilligan's Island, Belinda Carlisle and Dolly Parton.

zman said...

Funny, I figured Buffy and Hildegard from Bosom Buddies would be on that list.

Mark said...

I'd recommend rabbit. If you trust the chef.

I could give up meat for life if I had to. Not seafood though. I love everything that TR listed and many others (Snapper, Mussels, Rock Shrimp, Crawfish, etc). Gulf oysters are my favorite kind of oysters. Raw is my preference but I don't mind em fried either.

zman said...

Oooh baby I like it raaaaaw!

Whitney said...

Not a damn thing wrong with Loni Anderson and some oysters, though I'll take Bailey Quarters and some stone crab claws any day of the week.
