JP, who you don't know, also a winchesterian. I think there might be a glitch in formula for cut money....if you have a discrepancy, let me know. We'll get to it later but we will get to it. peace out
Re: Clarence's Fiona Apple analogy yesterday -- my point isn't that St. Vincent shouldn't cover old Nirvana songs (Cobain was 3 when Bowie release "The Man Who Sold the World," after all), but that it has to be crazy for her to experience covering a Nirvana song with Nirvana as her backing band. It's not like Paul Ringo and George backed Fiona Apple. And it's a bit random that Dave and Krist a chose her.
And for once In a long time I have good news! At least from my perspective. My series of indignant letters and aggrieved phone calls successfully persuaded the hospital to drop their $650+ bill for my wrist-related ER visit. I should consider a career in law.
I didn't realize there was a new post up last night. I'm sure the whiskey had nothing to with it. So, to review, Corey Brewer scored 51 points last night. Might surpass Willie Anderson as the most unlikely 50 point game in NBA history.
It seems I may have an opportunity to cannonball it down to Augusta tomorrow morning for some final round action. Do you need to clear these things with spouses first, or should I just pack my bag and leave a note?
I believe I've finally figured out my feelings on Drake. I've struggled with this because he's a really skilled rapper but he's pretty dorky and sings way too much for my taste. So...I like his cameos on other people's tracks. I don't care for his music.
I know you've all been on the edge of your seat waiting for my ruling on this.
Mark - I saw Drake live at the first Made In America festival. He was horrible. Just awful. Worst act I saw the entire weekend. He was like the dorky kid who thought cursing a lot would make him seem cooler but he just sounded like a dork dropping a ton of gratuitous f bombs. And this coming from a girl who's been known to drop a few herself. Also, I'm waiting for my kids to pack so we can head to OBX. Just discovered the house we're renting is mere blocks from Tortuga's. Mr KQ and I will raise a few in honor of OBFT.
uncovered a termite inspection at casa rob this morning. took a cool grand to rectify that situation. those masters pool winnings are gonna come in handy.
That sounds about right, KQ. Drake is most definitely not a naturally cool guy. Skilled rapper for sure. Not someone who I desire to listen to when he's the main attraction. Kills it on my cameos though.
The Nike Hoop Summit, which I've written about in here before, is today. It's been broadcast on obscure Cale channels in the past but will be on ESPN2 at 7. It's a great venue for the best young basketball talent in the world. 12 of the best US HS seniors vs 12 of the best international players of the same age. Good stuff. Watch.
I went to the beach with the family. Gave my stepdaughter surfing lessons then sat on the beach with the wife listening to the new War on Drugs record. Good times. Now about to plant my ass on the couch and watch many types of sports for the next 4-5 hours.
Before going out to hang out w the likes of a pretty strong irish contingency, I won't name names bc that would be dickish, we will fix this pool goshdangit! #alldaydrinking Good evening friends!
Cigar Aficionado. Latest issue. Pinehurst article by Larry Olmsted. Give it a read. Ben Crenshaw is quoted once or twice. Danimal, more than! It's no cnbc spot w the likes of tr, I can only dream, but getting there. Missing you all greatly.
i'm in 6th place in the masters pool, but careful review of the other entries seems to indicate that i have no chance of winning. second place pays $1200, so here's to number two.
IF Manny ends up winning the fight, I'll probably watch it next week. If Bradley wins, which I expect to happen, I'll just shrug it off and go on with life. Bradley does not have the juice to justify a $60 pay per view for me. If I'm throwing that money down, the opponent of the big name had better be best described as an "all action" fighter.
Agreed. I thought about putting the money down and I decided against it. I may have broken down if the wife had gone to bed early and I was alone and drunk, but she's still up so I didn't make a regrettable decision.
Nothing looked interesting on the undercards. PPV's are potentially 4-5 hours of boxing at times so I have to be pot-committed. Busting my hump in the backyard for 5 hours and then having my wife and friends hanging out in the house tonight almost guaranteed I would not get much out of it.
Got about 9 holes in to Master today before our house was invaded by relatives with multiple children, including an 8 year old who thought it was a funny game to block the tv for the better part of an hour. So, I kind of lost any nuances that transpired over the round. But I could have sworn Spieth was starting to get a little irritated with his caddy - looked like they had an exchange at the end of the 15th. I know he was definitely pissed about some of his golf shots, but was there something more to that or was I just seeing something without fuller context?
There wasn't anything mentioned though I was watching on the dvr about an hour or so behind so I was fast forwarding a bit. I did notice an exchange on 12 after he put it in the drink. I think he was second guessing the info he received about the wind direction and /or wind strength. If there were issues it will be common knowledge soon.

how's team gheorghe faring in the masters pool thus far? my squadron only had one cut casualty, but a lot of guys went backwards today.
Sorry guys and gal. Updates won't be out tonight, but you'll have them in the a.m.
Bloodbath today at Augusta.
I lost 5 guys.
Did you guys see Rory try to maim Adam with that wild shot?
Hello friends.
This chubby guy strategy is not working out as planned. I, like Shlara, had 5 cut.
Buck is in the running. Clearly a Winchester bias.

Also, as much as it pains me to admit it, FSU's new football unis are smooth.

may the wind take your troubles away, rootsy
I remember Tony Delk scoring 50.
Corey Brewer scoring 50 surprises me way more than Delk.
Agreed. Delk was always a scorer. His 50 was surprising. Brewer is shocking.

ginormous three points for fulham this morning. just huge.
Midnight train to GA Rootsy.

And speaking of Masters pools, Team Hotpants, like NKOTB, is hangin' tough.

Bubba, Jordan & Rickie are saving my ass today. My checkbook appreciates their effort.
Leavn the national. Epic day. Hello friends.

Very late last night I got into a best DJ's discussion. As you might have guessed, my selections were ankle deep and stopped during the Reagan years.
Jam Master Jay
Terminator X
Cut Creator
EZ Rock
Rock Master Scott
Mix Master Mike
Hurricane
Jazzy Jeff
Spinderella
Oh, boy. Weak.
I would add DJ Premiere and Ali Shaheed Muhammed. DJ Red Alert and Prince Paul too.
That's a tough discussion. Is it technical DJs? Production DJs? Influential DJs? So many different ways to go with that.

Much like Bill Clinton, Danimal is a cigar aficionado.
danimal is at once the best and the worst
The 70s were great due to the widespread accepted drug use and promiscuity but watching top boxing matches for free must've been pretty sweet too.
someday, i'll tell the story about the time i fought greg haugen for the ibf lightweight belt. it's a doozy.
i'm in 6th place in the masters pool, but careful review of the other entries seems to indicate that i have no chance of winning. second place pays $1200, so here's to number two.
Jefferson Reserve is not the smoothest bourbon I've ever had.

The other reason I didn't buy the fight. It's 12:15 EST and the fight is just beginning.
Hello Gheorghies.
Nothing looked interesting on the undercards. PPV's are potentially 4-5 hours of boxing at times so I have to be pot-committed. Busting my hump in the backyard for 5 hours and then having my wife and friends hanging out in the house tonight almost guaranteed I would not get much out of it.
In whose backyard did you bust?
Draper' back tonight!
liverpool/man city was a corker
The Donimal!
It's time for Don to give Peggy a spin.
Hard not to love Bubba.
I'm happy for Bubba. And I have learned my lesson picking hot guys in the pool.
The five guys I had left after the cut did REALLY well (Bubba, Jordan, Rickie)--but it wasn't enough to make up for the five guys who were cut.
Next year, is all about survivors.
danimal winds up low gheorghie in the pool, but he had to use two entries to do so. we're gonna need a ruling.

Spieth seemed a bit bitchy on the back half. Lots of Tiger-esque histrionics after every shot. But he seemed okay when he was interviewed.
Can't wait for zwoman to pick me up at the airport in a BRG Healey.
Especially wearing that outfit. That dress was so short you HAVE to groom.
Apparently Woodford Reseve is for handsome hipsters with sharp cheekbones.
Hello friends, a few observations from my fortuitous last minute trip to the final round of the Masters.
1. Augusta National is a pretty sweet track.
2. Bubba's drive on 13 seemed impossibly huge in person as well. Nobody else came anywhere close to that spot.
3. The trash receptacles are green bags that say PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE on them. Obviously a head nod to Augusta homeboy James Brown, right?
New post up!
