Friday Filler

Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent, has a terrific new album out. You should listen to it.

She also performed 'Lithium' with the surviving members of Nirvana last night in celebration of the band's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (we'll save the snark on that institution for Clarence's lengthy exposition on the topic).

Here's some really lousy video captured by some idiot who had no idea who she is:

anyone hear kliff kingsbury on dan lebatard's show the other day? that dude's got the world by the balls and he knows it. equal parts wooderson, clooney, and pete carroll. great interview, too - not your typical coachspeak.

The Kingsbury thing is interesting. He rode the Sumlin/Manziel wave to the Tech job. Then became an even hotter name as Tech exceeded expectations this season. Plus, women think he hot. Thing is, he's had 3 QBs transfer from Tech in just over a year (2 of 3 were starters at one point or another). He seems to have a little of young Spurrier's maddening impatience with QBs. Will be interesting to see how Tech does this season. If they flounder things could change very quickly for him.

Right now though? He can do pretty much whatever he wants.

I wanted that pairing to be better when I heard them last year, but they didn't knock my socks off.

St. Vincent is worth a listen. Some odd guitar work makes her songs less catchy than they could be, but I like "Birth in Reverse." Especially the opening lines: oh, what an ordinary day / take out the garbage, masturbate.

St. Vincent was about 10 years old when Kurt Cobain killed himself.

But that shouldn't matter. Fiona Apple was born seven years after the Beatles broke up, but her version of "Across the Universe" is unbelievable.

'birth in reverse' is a terrific song. st. vincent's 2012 collaboration with david byrne is pretty great stuff, too.

last time people were as excited as they are by colbert's move to cbs, pontius pilate went and put a kibosh on things. colbert's gonna have a high bar to clear in terms of expectations.

Not sure. We'll have our G:TB chaplain weigh in on that.

I'm late on this but Missouri kicked Dorial Green-Beckham of the football team today. Was the nations #1 recruit two years ago and an absolute freak. Would've been a first rounder after his junior year if he hadn't been in constant trouble at Missouri. The CFB offseason never fails.

Corey Brewer scored 51 tonight. I never saw that happening.
