TTP Picks: Week 11

TJ's out in the Bay Area doing Bay Area (say hi to JR Rider, Teej!) things so I'm here to pick up the slack and provide some editorial prowess in addition to my picks for Week 11 of the CFB picks contest between the Danimal and I. It wasn't a banner week for either of us as we were both stupid enough to bet on Logan Thomas and the Hokies at Boston College. You know what that means though, right? We're due for a big week. So pull some money out of the kids college fund (They're not that smart anyway. I see state schools in their future.) and put it down in these games.

(Example of 'Bay Area things')

Good News. Mark went 1-2 last weekend. Bad News. So did I. Damn it!

Time is not something I have a lot of this morning. Teejus will tell you I usually get my picks in well prior to Saturday. Well not this week. Hopefully this will bode well for me but I have no expectations.

Syracuse + 5.5 at Maryland
‘Cuse is in da house again omygod omygod!
Orange Crush

Notre Dame -3.5 at Pitt
The fact of the matter is ND plays everyone close. It’s not a terrible thing that they do, because they usually win them. Brian Kelly is tied for 2nd I believe with Knute for games won but decided by less than a TD. Most of us remember what happened last year when ND, thanks to a missed chip shot field goal, beat Pitt by the red hair on their leprechaun’s balls. Pitt wants revenge. They’ve been talking smack this week with one of their players stating publicly his distaste for ND players. But…..they aren’t very good. They’ve averaged 10-11 points over their last 3 games. I don’t see them scoring more than 14 today. Irish get 20+. Irish covers.
Leprechaun Dance

LSU +12 at Bama
T minus 2 minutes before I have to get my youngest out of her crib after morning nap. Wife out. Riding solo this a.m. Yes, morning nap. She gets up at 5/530 so, ya know.
Stupid is as stupid does…but TWAALVE points? My tendency is to take too many dogs. And I’m losing. Going w/Bama.
Hey Tide, let’s roll

Mississippi State @ Texas A&M -19.5
I'd be shocked if this isn't Johnny Manziel's last home game in College Station. He has nothing left to accomplish individually as a college QB and College Station sucks. He may not be a 1st round NFL draft pick (Personally, I think somebody will take a flyer on him in the 1st. Hell, Tim Tebow and Christian Ponder were 1st rounders) but he's over the college experience and ready to make some substantial money (see: not just the pocket change he's made from selling autographs). I don't blame John Football one bit. I suspect Manziel will go out in style as he and fellow NFL bound teammate Mike Evans light up the Bulldogs like they have everyone else this year. Mississippi State's dumbed down version of Urban Meyer's spread option offense won't be able to keep up, not even close. Give the points and take the Aggies.

Missouri -13.5 @ Kentucky
Missouri bounced back in style last week against Tennessee. The Tigers are no longer undefeatedbut they still ahve plenty to play for. An SEC East Championship, a shot at (presumably) Alabama in the SEC Championship Game and maybe even a shot at the BCS Championship game if everything fell their way. Kentucky, on the other hand, is 2-6 and everyone in town has officially moved on to basketball. Mark Stoops has actually done a good job in his first year in Lexington. The record doesn't show it but this team is far more prepared and competitive than any Kentucky team since Rich Brooks left town. With that said, Kentucky is the doormat of the SEC for a reason. That reason: They consistently suck. Today will be no different. Missouri's run continues. Take the Tigers.

Arkansas @ Ole Miss -17
Arkansas is awful. So bad that first year coach Bret Bielema is already talking about how bare the cupboard was when he arrived in Fayetville. I don't remember anybody making Bret leave Madison for the SEC West. High Freeze doesn't want to hear about bare cupboards, I'm sure. Not after he took over a program decimated by the mismanagement of Houston Nutt. Ole Miss is legit and have been improving as the season's progressed. Hotty Toddy.

Bonus: Vanderbilt +10 @ Florida
Are you noticing a theme in the bonus pick? I wont bet against Florida but I encourage you to do so. I'm still not sure how Georgia didn't cover the 3 points despite being up 23-3 at halftime. Credit to the Gators, they didn't quit last week when they absolutely could have. Unfortunately, they also didnt quit committing dumb penalties at the most inopportune times possible. Florida isn't a very good football team this year. Some of that is their fault. Some of that is the fault of an epic plague of injuries unlike anything I've ever witnessed. Every week it gets worse. Just this week, Florida lost starting RT Tyler Moore (who was the team's third OT at the beginning of the season) for the year when he crashed his scooter on the way home from practice and ended up with a compound fracture of his elbow. In case you're keeping score at home, that will now make a combined total of 84 starts missed by Gator players due to injury this season. It's tough to win a lot of games that way. Florida might lose to Vanderbilt today (It's okay to drink whiskey at noon, right?). Even if they don't, they won't cover. Thank me. And then pray for me.

Florida already down 10-0.

FSU (35 point favorite) already up 28 early in the 2nd Quarter.

I hate 2013.

Good picks. Was very close to taking fsu. This is what they did against nc state and nc state covered the 32.5. That ain't happening today though.

If anyone gave a shit about the lack of commentary on me picks I'd apologize. So I won't.

I don't even think I can care anymore. Florida is bad at EVERYTHING.

Also the post is sloppy because I had to edit and post it from my phone whilst at the gym. I'd edit it again now that I'm home but I'm too busy deciding what household items to smash.

I considered Florida State. Not sure why I didn't pull the trigger, Danimal.

Despite my instinct I didn't take Auburn -7 today since Tennessee has burned me as a home dog twice this year. That's looking pretty fucking stupid right now.

tribe game televised at 3. you know you want to.

Mark said...

Florida down 31-10. Florida has lost to Vanderbilt in Gainesville once in the program's history. That loss occurred in 1945.

1945.

Mark said...

Auburn has scored 55 points on Tennessee. Auburn has completed 3 passes.

rob said...

aaaand, i don't get the tribe game. stupid.

I'm not drunk right now. I should get a fucking medal for my restraint.

I don't necessarily agree with the sentiment ( then again I don't think it's absurd), but I'm not sure Will Muschamp survives.

I asked in the last post if anyone can recommend a gizmo that will let me stream netflix to my tv through my wifi. I do not want to buy a smart tv or blu-ray or a game console. Thanks for any advice.

rob said...

i think roku or apple tv will enable you to what you describe, but i'm nearly as much a luddite as you.

rob said...

to *do* what you describe. to *be* or not to *be*.

Mark said...

Apple TV definitely does. As does do most gaming stations. If you're that type of guy.

Mark said...

Will Muschamp can help you shop for one. He's going to have some time on his hands soon.

Mark said...

Apple TV also has HBO Go and ESPN3.

zman said...

Can a moron like me set up Apple tv without professional assistance?

Mark said...

Yes. A moron like me has twice. Plug it in to your hdmi port on your TV if you have wifi in your house.

zman said...

Perfect. Apple TV it is.

Dave said...

zman, get a fucking blu-ray player, you retard. streams netflix and there's nothing better than watching anything on blu-ray.

zman said...

I already have a DVD player and I've never once said to myself "I wish this movie had greater pixel density." That stuff just doesn't matter to me.

this bama/lsu game seems fun

Scary thought: As stacked as Alabama has been for some time now they've never had a deep and talented group,of receivers. Until now. That's probably not going to change any time soon.

We've got a game in Tuscaloosa. Good times. So glad Florida had a bye this weekend.

Danimal was early today. I'm assuming he's in bed at this point. Probably for the best. Notre Dame might lose to Pitt? This should've happened last year and done us all a favor.

Still here.

Good game Pitt

And am still waiting for Dave to get scolded.

Holy shit...just seeing the vatech Miami recap. Was close to betting on Miami both here and on $ site.

Mark said...

I also didn't see Miami getting clubbed like that. Picture on the tweeter of AJ and KW kissing. They've reunited. Our long national nightmare is over.

The interwebs have weird photos of McCarron's mom, showing off her grotesque implants. Google "AJ McCarron's Mom". It's pretty gross and sad, and this is coming from a guy who is generally amused by cougars.

Mark said...

I've seen these pictures in the past. I have no desire to repeat this.

It's a bass. It's the impeccable Ron Carter to be exact. The sample is from Eric Dolphy's song Mrs. Parker Of K.C. (Bird's Mother). If you find the song the sample starts at 6:13. amanda vanderpool model
