Since some of you are not as addicted to the internet (specifically twitter and tumblr) as much as I am, thought I would drop this gem that made its way around the internets yesterday in G:TB this morning.
Artist Dave Roppoccio decided to re-imagine NFL logos as if they were all British - jolly good effort, Dave. A few of my favorites:
As Work Jerry just pointed out to me, nice touch making sure every logo has a monocle.

I wrote something for SB Nation about "small school" players at the NFL Combine, if you have any desire to waste a few minutes reading it...

if gene smith were still the jags' gm, he'd draft no less than 2 of these guys. which is one of the reasons he is no longer the gm.
i like 6'5 qb's.
question, and forgive me if this is a retarded one but am trying to figure out why an OL has "knockdowns"? is it people he's knocking down? if so, was unaware that was such a stat.
Danimal- Do not express your Gene Smith opinion to Alfie Crow (Jags blogger) unless you enjoy being skewered on Twitter.
danimal, you've probably heard "knockdowns" also described as "pancake blocks"...and yes, I too am amazed at the amount of shit they'll make up stats for, all in the name of evaluating a player.
Alfie destroying people on twitter is one of my favorite things
now following alfie.
mark - am i interpreting your statement correctly? is alfie a gene smith supporter?
Nice line TJ, "In a league that churns through running backs the way I vaporize a sleeve of Girl Scout cookies".
holy shit, someone actually read what I wrote...
danimal, no, alfie thinks very little of gene's "ability" as a GM
you wrote something?
hey, i'm 'agile, quick on his feet, and loaded with feistiness'. does this mean i'll get drafted?
you're also the size of an acorn, so no
fuck. guess i gotta show up for work tomorrow, then.
you could probably get some playin time in the lingerie league.
anyone else even more geeked than usual for the ncaa tourney?
Pancake blocks went from slang to "ate that guy's lunch/sat on the opponent" to a recorded stat in about 10 years. Pretty rapid progression. Pancakes are sort of like the equivalent of blocks out of bounds in basketball. Sure, they are stylish, guys can brag about them, they are good for showing up the opponent, they are slightly helpful, but they often don't provide as much benefit as if you just used a little finesse.
that might be the most ever written about pancake blocks in the comments section of a silly mid-major hoops/general dipshittery blog
Mayhugh like pancakes.
Mmmmm, pancakes.
cool story in this week's sports illy about popeye jones' son, seth, who's a stud...hockey player.
He talked to LeBatard about his son a while back. Apparently his son fell in live with hockey while Popeyes was playing for the Nuggets. Which, by the way, is an even more appropriate nickname based on recent legal decisions. Also, you have to be happy for Popeye's kid...since he doesn't look like Popeye.
