This commercial was way better than the ESPYs

I actually have something a bit more substantive coming later, but for now, I need to share what seems like the only commercial aired during the ESPYs last night...

Well, dammit, they don't have the actual commercial, but as it turns out, this trailer is a good substitute:

So yeah, I kept flipping back to see how Seth Myers could fuck it up, but really I just kept flipping back hoping for another "Piranha 3D" commercial. Think I'm joking? Take a look at my hackneyed "Piranha 3D" tweets from last evening. The movie has take over my subconscious.

"Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherfucking piranhas in this motherfucking lake!!"

teej - you're my boy blue! (in response to last comment in last post. word!

that explains a lot. i had no earthly clue what your tweets last night meant. and, obviously, was far too lazy to try to figure it out.

Teej - I'm right there with you on Piranha 3D. Hopefully they've done it with the appropriate level of camp. "Anaconda" took itself way too seriously (and as I've mentioned before Ice Cube listened to his own CD while hitting golf balls - NWA Ice Cube would have some words for Anaconda Icecube). Snakes on a Plane got it closer to right but not all the way there.

I think the additions of Christopher Lloyd and Elizabeth Shue in a key role itself increases the camp factor by lots. Shue is genuinely funny - her turn in Hamlet 2 was awesome.

did i see richard dreyfuss in there as well?

i can't tell if this is a satire of if it's serious.

it does subscribe to the classic horror movie trope-- if you are acting slutty, you will get killed.

the plot hole: just put up a sign saying "killer piranha in lake: swim at your own risk."

d-train said...

and did you notice richard dreyfuss in the small boat? clever!

I love the inclusion of the Reverend Jim Ignatowski as the scientist/piranha expert.

And did I see a Richard Dreyfuss cameo? And Jerry O'Connell?

This thing is really coming together.

Good lord gentleman. Are we all sharing the same hazy brain?

Hey fellas, that guy from Mr. Holland's Opus was in a small watercraft of some sort I believe.

Roy Scheider would've been an even better cameo. He's been scared off oceans entirely, sticking to lakes for many years, and now this.

Of course he died two years ago, so it'd have to be Piranha Weekend at Bernie's, but still...

Didn't E-Shue win an oscar for Leaving Las Vegas? And now she's dealing with fish on a plane? Weird.

Piranha 3D needs Lou Gossett Jr. as Calvin Bouchard.

Shue has been no stranger to shit cinema for quite some time. She was in Hollow Man,one of the worst movies I have ever seen in a theater. The movie also featured Kevin "in it for the paycheck" Bacon and Josh Brolin (while he was still the grown-up kid from the Goonies).

Odd career arc. She went from being a cute girl with big cankles in Karate Kid to a whore nominated for an Oscar to a C-list star.

But let's get something on the record. Elizabeth Shue was no Kerri Green. And I'll knuckle up with any man who says anything to the contrary.

What TR meant to say is that he'd go knuckle deep with any man who says something to the contrary.

Is that a fisting joke? I hope it is. We need more of them here.

Somebody mentioned Squeeze on here recently, but they must have been serious. Squeeze is playing in New Brunswick at the State Theater on July 18. They were good when I saw them in 1987, so Dave, you should go.

Dave said...

i also saw squeeze in 1987-- i think they were opening up for david bowie on his glass spider tour. the eighties were very silly.

is pulling mussels from a shell some kind of concupiscent allusion?

Phil has really gotten hosed on his tee times. He got off a little while ago and he is playing in good Scottish weather - I actually can't believe they're playing given the amount of rain falling.

At least Ricky Barnes has a legitimate excuse for wearing those terrible hats he wears.
