Gheorghe: The Decision

As noted in the comments below, shortly after 9pm this evening a member of the G:TB editorial staff will be terminated. Live post-termination interview with esteemed blog journalist Alf to follow. And don't try to read anything into the picture...seriously. Why would we fire rob?

Zman is quivering in a corner. Or, for a change, actually working.

Clarence said...

Last hired, first fired, right? Come on!

d-train said...

what kind of income we talkin about here? bene's?

T.J. said...

Yes, similar to working at Bennigan's? That's what you're asking, right?

Clarence said...

Benihana! Wasabi!

Any severance with this firing?

d-train said...

so whigor is getting shitcanned? what's the dillio? can't wait for the scoop - tomorrow's post should be an article on the matter.

d-train said...

whigor can't even slack responsibly. come on!
WHIGOR!!!!!!

Smart money is on Dave or Mr. Truck.

The longshot scenario is firing a newly created character or old one who after a momentary reinstatement (Bailey Wick?).

Clarence said...

Good idea, Jer. Can we bring you under our umbrella for the next 5 hours?

Or maybe we fire PetCobra. One unsolicited testimony isn't enough, dude.

Clearly I'm on the hot seat. What TJ and Rob don't understand is that I deal with the goddamn commenters so the bloggers don't have to! I have people skills! I am good at dealing with people! Can't you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?

According to John Starks, Donnie Walsh has done a great job clearing "calary sap."

Jerry said...

- But I don't even really work here.

- That's what makes this so difficult.

Clarence said...

Jerry as Kramer. I like it.

Although, as TV characters go, I'd say Jerry is actually a cross between Mr. Spock and the guy working at the Argument Clinic.

Clarence said...

On the plus side, Cleveland, the Browns just signed Bobby Engram.

It's party time in the Flats tonight.

rob said...

espn: the magazine is reporting that it's not a dismissal - one of us is actually retiring. because he has mrsa. or hiv.

Clarence said...

Talk radio says it's neither a firing nor a retirement, but a public pantsing. Self-inflicted.

Place your bets accordingly.

T.J. said...

Reports have surfaced an unnamed GTB staffer called this whole exercise "balloon pants".

Shlara said...

Is this like Survivor where we get to vote someone off the island?

Wait, I don't think I get a vote, do I?

Mark said...

I have a source that's reporting it's not a firing but a lifetime ban for TJ. He failed his 300th drug test.

T.J. said...

I've got a West Coast colleague reporting this could all be typical gheorghian shenanigoats to pump up lackluster ratings.

Hello to all our new Faith No More followers...

rob said...

mavs gave brendan haywood 6/$55. guh.

T.J. said...

Take the straw out of your mouth, son.

T.J. said...

Buzz Bizzinger is some kind of angry.

Shlara said...

This is completely ridiculous

rob said...

this is the dumbest thing i've ever watched. and i've watched 'small wonder'.

rob said...

bissinger is on fire. angriest man alive.

T.J. said...

Broussard might have a heart attack.

"Decision will be announced at 9:10."

Horseshit that I'm still hear like a dipshit at 9:23 PM.

He is going to be CRUCIFIED in New York the rest of his career if he doesn't go there.

Dagger for the Knicks, their senile President and their dipshit owner.

Good news for tri-state area fans of Kelenna Azubuike.

Every time Bron Bron brings up his mother, I think of Delonte sticking his dork in her.

TR said...

Riley is gonna "Stan Van Gundy" Spoelstra by December. He'll go back to Vegas and resume his Donny Osmond impersonator gig.

rob said...

david lee to the warriors. sorry, tr.

T.J. said...

So LeBron does, or does not, have HIV?

rob said...

did we fire him?

rob said...

in all that contrived nonsense, the one thing that rang true to me was lebron's desire to win as a team. he's no kobe or michael in terms of his killer intinct, but he might be magic in terms of making a bunch of really good pieces fit together.

in other news, robbie findley still has no touch.

Jerry said...

I think this is going to be fascinating. Far more interesting that if he'd gone to NY. I'd have preferred Chicago, but this will be very interesting.

Internet Knicks fans are absolutely losing their shit.

rob said...

findley just drew a penalty and finished the pk. hmm, let's try this again.

in other news, zooey deschanel still hasn't shown up at my house with a million dollars.

Marls said...

NY post is reporting that the Yankees are about to get Cliff Lee.

As a Met & Knick fan, that would make today a special circle of hell.

T.J. said...

Please tell me Vagina Vazques gets dealt in that transaction?

T.J. said...

And Mark, great day for you...TN footballers in yet another bar fight.

TR said...

Hey The Teej - Since June 1st, Vazquez is 4-2 with 37 Ks in 46 innings in 7 starts. He's got an ERA of 2.93 and a WHIP of 0.93.

I'll take that for my 5th starter and let him be a long reliever in October and November.

T.J. said...

I'm sorry, but I refuse to accept numbers in the case of that spineless cocksucker. He and Kevin Brown will forever be on my Buscemiwesque shit list for 2004.

TR said...

Mel Turpin committed suicide?

Marls said...

The other rumor that is getting kicked around is that after the Lee deal is done that the yanks trade Javy to the phillies for a bat.

T.J. said...

TR, I blame LeBron.

d-train said...

bron bron - he's kind of an amateur isn't he? doesn't he have "handlers" that make sure his shit's in order before he goes on tv?
also - does anyone else find it interesting that there's a boys & girls club in greenwich, ct? are these the kids that don't have trust funds?

d-train said...

someone's gotta make a movie about this spy swap deal.
so did no one from gtb get pink slipped last night?

Marls said...

Clearly you have never walked the mean streets of Greenwich. Without the boys and girls club, who would be there to make sure kids properly popped their collars and tied their boat shoes smartly?

T.J. said...

Mean Street Posse!

And they're called bluchers.

Rob's "Small Wonder" comment last night made me laugh enough to offset the LBJ crapshow. Kudos, little buddy.

And D-Train, I was given double secret probation, a stern tongue-lashing (from Shlara), and community service (frequenting the Sentence of Dave). Kind of a letdown, but that was the theme last night.

Clarence said...

And Faith No More's "Epic" helped get Rob and me through a muggy, drunk summer in Williamsburg 20 years ago.

This helped, too. A lot.

Jerry said...

Is Dan Gilbert taking any action on his championship guarantee?

T.J. said...

So LeBron did the same thing to Gilbert that Boozer did to Gund, minus the blindeness angle?

TR said...

But LeBron never promised he would sign. He always said he'd be a free agent.

T.J. said...

Good point.

TR said...

And LeBron doesn't have those creepy chest pubes that the Boozeman has.

Clarence said...

Hey LeBron . . . you want it all, but you can't have it. It's in your face, but you can't grab it.

Oh thank you, thank you Jeebus.
