Ho. Lee. Shit.

We tried to jinx this thing once already, and the karmic power of the Futile Superfan overcame our hubris. Once more into the breach, then, lads - Crash Davis and fucking with a streak be damned, because we're so far through the looking glass that the normal laws of physics and fandom don't apply. And, really, we're playing with house money at this point - a loss tonight will hardly diminish the accomplishment.

Dick Vitale mentioned William & Mary this morning on the radio. John Feinstein wrote about the Tribe in the Washington Post today. Laimis Kisielius got major run on SportsCenter. Folks from Boston to Richmond to Norfolk to Wilmington are trying to sell CAA Finals tickets way before they thought they would. A different W&M player hit a game-winning shot on the Tribe's final possession in each of the CAA Tournament's first three games. For a team that had won a grand total of three conference tourney games in 22 years. What in the name of John Leone is going on here?

Quick and dirty today, then, and more to come tomorrow. G:TB's merry band is on the way back to Richmond to see if miracles really do happen.

Thanks to Extra P at Storming the Floor for the clip of Tribe fans, um, storming the floor after the unlikely semifinal win over VCU. 'That Just Happened' is destined to be William & Mary's version of 'Do You Believe in Miracles'.

I can't believe I forgot about Feinstein. I was standing in the press room, watching the end of the Clemson/VT game yesterday, I heard this familiar-sounding voice saying something like "they had a chance and they threw it away", and I turned around and it was Feinstein. Let me tell you, that is a surreal moment.

So, who gets to be the hero tonight? Big Peter Stein?

I realize the Tribe game(s) was(were) the 1-seed of the hoops weekend...but, did you guys catch the end of that UCLA game Saturday...

Kevin Love fall away 25 footer. And then a rainmaker over the backboard (which should have never counted)??!! Are you kidding me?! Bruins will win the championship...you heard it here first. Unless of course, they catch the Tribe in the first round, in which case case the greatest upset in tourney history occurs.

I will be, Rob. I'm usually sitting in the second row way down on the end next to the W&M band, with the CAAZone guys. I have no idea if there will be enough seats tonight, but if not, I'm going to hang around down there anyway with my camera.

I still can't believe Danny Sumner hasn't had his chance at the last-second miracle shot. He's been pretty clutch.

From Gary Parrish's "Projecting the Field" column this morning...thanks for the Bulletin Board material, Gary. You cunty Ramrod.

Selection Sunday is less than a week away.

Kentucky is in.

Florida is out.

And Anthony Grant seems headed towards his first NIT while VCU fans wonder whether the setback might dim their coach's star just enough to keep him around another year. My advice: Don't get too optimistic. Barring a miracle, Grant will be relocated in less than a month, a richer man with a bigger budget despite the fact that he lost in the CAA Tournament semifinals to Bill & Mary.

Yeah, Grant is absolutely gone. He'll be back in the SEC by April.

That loss is going to stick in his craw for some time. He still can't figure out how that team beat him.

A couple of unforced turnovers late in the game didn't help ol' VCU. A couple of their passes went haywire.

You mean like the Freddie Brown-esque pass to Danny Sumner with about 2:07 to go...that didn't help.
