...or at least the three of us rooting for a CAA bracket invasion:
After a wild day in the major conference tournaments, I think ODU and Drexel have real reason to believe they'll be Dancing come Sunday. Not to bombard you with the same stuff again, but a little housecleaning from these previous posts:
Joe Lunardi's last four in (and yes, it pains me greatly to have Joe Lunardi playing Peter at the gates of Bracket Heaven). Looks like G:TB got to Mr. Lunardi.
Purdue - Iowa could sack up and help us here by winning this one.
Illinois - Same with enigmatic Indiana squad.
Drexel - Howdy Bruiser!
Old Dominion - Let them play...let them play...
**G:TB is also declaring Syracuse and Michigan State as IN.
Welcome to the NIT chumps
Clemson - I gotta admit, tough way to lose a game. I didn't see much of a foul on that final play.
Alabama - Truly a bunch of bamas.
Depaul - I've already forgotten these guys.
UMass - Watching 2007 A-10 basketball is about an enjoyable as having a car door slammed on your hand...repeatedly.
Fresno State - Um, yeah, we haven't really discussed these guys. Don't have to now.
Providence - Herbert Hill, future MVP of NIT Final Four.
Just lose today so we can forget about you
Oklahoma State - I don't see A&M dropping this game.
Michigan - Tommy will find a way to fuck this up.
Kansas State - Bob Knight vs. Bob Huggins - wow, this is really hard, which guy do I want to root for less?
Arkansas - I have a bad feeling Arkansas might cause some tension over the weekend.
Georgia - Even the Drizzle has given up on these guys.
Miss State - If the SEC West is as atrocious as we think, Kentucky wins this game easily.
Ole Miss - Let's see if I was right about LSU having a run in them.
Please just win your suck-ass conference title
Xavier - God I hate the A-10.
Memphis - When do we reach the point where Conference USA loses their automatic bid?
Long weekend ahead
Air Force - What did I tell you about Air Force and Wyoming? Honestly, go look at Air Force's schedule - they are in real trouble.
Stanford - They had their chances...
Missouri State - These guys might be getting the Oz treatment two years in a row. Maybe they should try winning at least one game against the other MVC powers.
West Virginia - Very enjoyable team to watch, and if G:TB had their way, WVU is in as well (as long as it is not at the expense of our CAA darlings).
Florida State - Only if they lose today. If they beat Carolina today they're in.
Thank you very little
Syracuse - Drexel would've like one of these teams to make a deep run in the Big East tourney.
Villanova - Nice start yesterday fellas...
EDITOR'S ADDENDUM: Michael Litos at The CAA: Life as a Mid-Major checks in this morning with an eye-opening (if self-serving and admittedly biased - hey, someone's got to be biased in favor of the little guys) comparison of Duke and Drexel. Bottom line is that the 2 are very, very comparable, and that Drexel's willingness to go on the road - the real road, not neutral court exhibitions - and play (and beat) tough non-conference foes stands out in stark contrast to the Blue Devils' (and nearly all major conference schools, for that matter) phobia of doing the same. Drexel won 13 freaking true road games this season - if they don't get in, the committee is guilty of the worst kind of hypocrisy.

Clemson got hose BIG TIME on that call on Thornton. Awful wat to lsoe a game (and a season). Though, I guess they shouldn't have fumbled the ball away 10 seconds earlier.
LSU-Tenn might've been game of the day. Back and forth all night with both teams doing a ton of pressing.
"Why you wanna give me a run-around...Is it a sure-fire way to speed things up...When all it does is slow me down"
John Popper, the ex-Blues Traveler frontman - who last we knew was dating New England Patriots cheerleader Kristen O’Neil - was busted in Spokane, Wash., after police stopped his car for speeding and found a regular arsenal in a hidden compartment. Police say they pulled over Popper’s Mercedes SUV doing 111 mph. (The musician was a passenger in the car, a pal was driving.) A search of the vehicle turned up a small amount of marijuana and a massive stash of hardware that included four rifles, nine handguns, a switchblade knife, a Taser and night-vision goggles. Bet that was a real eye Popper! The SUV, which was seized, was equipped with flashing lights, a siren and a P.A. system. Patriots pom-pom poohbah Tracy Sormanti said she believes Popper and O’Neil are still a twosome. “Last I knew they were,” she said. “I don’t know if anything’s changed or not.”
Cal/UCLA, NC State/Duke, WVU/Louisville, Wake/Ga Tech - all awesome games as well.
St. Louis/UMass was shot on 9mm film in the dark.
Check out the pic of his stash...

Yeah, I kind of forgot about WVU-Louisville b/c I wanted to throw up after the way WVU gave theat game away. Nice defense boys.
Popper's stash is eerily reminiscent of Ahnold's final scene in Raw Deal...all Popper needed to do was run roughshod over the bad guys in a quarry, while jamming out to the Stones.
did you see beilein's reaction after the ole defense in the final seconds of regulation?
his jaw dropped and he said, "oh no!" with a bewildered look on his face. tough loss.
Sosa gets to the foul line extended, has THREE guys on him, and then after the stumble snipers apparently take out all three, parting the lane like the Red Sea.
Nice work Squirrel...
...wait a second, I saw that guy doing halftime and post-game work during the CAA tourney (I think), if indeed the blog dude is also the author of that book.
he is, and he was on-air at the tourney a couple of times
Have you seen NIT-ology? As a Hofstra grad, I always check that before the NCAA Tourney because, well, we know why. They have Hofstra AND ODU and Drexel in the NIT. He must be beaten, and shown the CAA way.
I don't know how much more of this constant stumping on behalf of the CAA I can take.
My Am East and MAAC campaigning never really gains steam.
It's a much more compelling fight to get the ACC or Big East's 8th teams into the Dance.
This crusade for the CAA is a worthy cause, no doubt. It's just tough for me to get behind Drexel when I don't know a single thing about them (outside of Bruiser, of course).
Oh, and is this what the weekly basketball games looki like?

OK, that clip got me...
It's Lamont Jordan Redux:
Running back Dominic Rhodes, one of the heroes of the Indianapolis Colts' Super Bowl XLI championship less than two months ago, is headed to the team that finished the 2006 season with the league's worst record.
Rhodes on Friday morning agreed with the Oakland Raiders on a two-year contract that can be worth as much as $7.5 million, league sources confirmed for ESPN.com. Rhodes had generated considerable interest as an unrestricted free agent and made several visits, but met with Oakland officials earlier this week and was sold on the opportunity there.
hey mark, you can take this sec logo and shove it sideways up your ass.
um, i mean, hi mark!
OK, Michigan is a 10 point loser and Florida State a 15 point loser in the first games of the day. I like...
We're rooting for Kentucky over Miss. State, correct? They've got some work to do, down 8 with 13 mins to play.
Man, Kentucky blows too...Mark's SEC is a bunch of chumps.
It's a down year for the SEC, no doubt. The West doesn't deserve to get a single team in.
Hey Rob!
Kentucky's RPI is 9? Is that right? This could be bad for the Colonial crew if this crappy Miss. State team knocks them off.
kentucky's already in, it's miss state that's the problem.
lunardi's now got drexel and odu as 11 seeds, while illinois and florida state (last 2 in) are both at 12. the indiana/illinois game is big for the caa bunch.
My point was that Miss. State, with its 65 RPI and craptacular season is not even in the last 4 out -- but by knocking off Kentucky that could change. I had thought they'd need to make a deep run into the SEC tourney, maybe even win.
Hold the phone...here comes Kentucky...
I think Miss. State would have to beat UK AND win in the semis to get in. UK's RPI is good but they're hardly an elite team. Their RPI is inflated by their schedule (both in and out of conference) and, as previously stated, the SEC West is trash.
I think a Miss St dude just hit a three at the buzzer to send it to overtime...
would be nice if iowa sacked up against purdue
Right you are, Jamont Gordon ties it up.
Who is a worse coach, Alford or Amaker (I left Bruiser out this time)?
Crap, UK had that won. And they have 4 guys with 4 fouls. Uh oh.
I say Amaker, though its close.
Way to go, Tubby.
(Not a poke at you, TJ.)
The Kentucky faithful already want him canned...this plus a 1st round exit will prove disastrous for Tubbster.
heard an interesting tidbit on the radio machine this morning - under tubby, uk has never lost a first-round ncaa game.
Tom Brennan dropped this nugget last night, which I hadn't heard:
No team has ever lost in the first round of their conference tourney and went on to win the national title. Hi UCLA!
huggy bear up 7 at halftime. but he looks really good in a leather vest over a sweater. sort of like an aging hell's angel with a purple fetish.
purdue wins, arkansas up by 9 over vandy in the first half, kansas state up 12 on texas tech.
grrr.
actually, a better conclusion to that last comment would have been...
gheorghe is getting angry.
Hey Xavier, thanks for nothing...dicks.
nevada just *killed* the dream. now we're down to hoping the committee doesn't completely fuck the little guy.
Right now, I still think ODU is in...and Georgetown winning the Big East title tonight would really help.
Stupid fucking A-10...and yeah, Nevada did us no favors.
Soooo, Conference USA sucks so much their final gets an 11:30AM tip today?
Robert "Fluff" McKiver's godfather? Vin Baker.
Lunardi's last four in hasn't changed yet...
Albany/Vermont game had an absurd dunk in the first half...some dude needs to put that on YouTube ASAP.
vermont's getting no calls whatsoever, despite the home-court advantage
memphis gets it done, so i can stop rooting for calipari now.
albany's unconscious
69 seconds to go...
we're on opposite sides of this one, i'm guessing
Yes...
good luck to you, then
chris simon only got 22 games for that assault. that's crazy.
wow, that's horrrrrrrible execution
that's quite a zipper-do on will brown
So awesome.

carolina's draining much of the interest out of this one
Wrath of Kaun on espn2...
Sasha Kaun (pronounced Kahn) (born May 8, 1985, in Tomsk, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union), is a Russian basketball player. He is currently a junior at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, USA, where he plays Center for the KU men's basketball team.
Donkey.
Sasha Kaun went to Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, FL. Something about banging penguins.
