Some Gheorghe trivia:
"Although Gheorghe Muresan is, to date, the tallest player in the history of the NBA, his record was at risk in the late 1990's, when North Korean player Michael Ri (7'8") was attempting to make it to the NBA. Ri's attempts were eventually stifled by the Trading with the Enemy Act, and Ri never played basketball in the NBA."
How about that? Just like My Giant ruined our pal Ghiţă, a Julia Roberts movie ruined his North Korean nemesis.

That's the last good thing Patrick Bergin ever did...
that's not cool - making fun of how that korean guy pronounces his last name
Whitney, you are better than that joke. At least...I think you are...
Much better . . . I think. But the joke wasn't the point of the post, it was the fact that our feud with North Korea keeps big G as #1.
Tribe down only 4 with 7 minutes to play...
Uh oh Dennis, Duke might be going 0-2 in ACC play for the first time in 12 years.
Of course I jinxed the Tribe - they lose 88-77 to VCU.
Hey, remember when Wichita St was undefeated and the "mid-major" darling of the non-conference season?
Yeah, me neither...Shockers lose again tonight, and are now 1-4 in Missouri Valley play. Kind of offsets the early season wins over LSU and Syracuse.
This is all I will say about a certain San Francisco Giants OF:
It is patently absurd in this day and age that any baseball player, especially a player under the microscope such as this one, would ever randomly grab pills from a teammates' locker and just take them, no questions asked. How stupid do you think we are?
tribe was due for a loss - that's not a bad one
One note on this whole Nick Saban mess...how come Bobby Petrino gets off so easy? You do realize he signed a 10 year extension just last year right? To quote him at the time of the contract:
"I don't think you're ever going to eliminate the skepticism [of leaving]," Petrino said of his self-inflicted burden. "It bothers me, yeah. One of the things I've never enjoyed the last couple of years was when you'd walk up and meet someone, and they'd be nice, a good booster, a good fan, and they would say, 'We're sure glad you're here. Hope you stay.' That's the thing I want to end."
If you're gonna grill Saban, and rightfully so, let's turn a little of that spotlight on Bobby P.
And rob, you can still have Drexel as your CAA champ, I will keep VCU as mine.
while i agree in principle with your petrino take, it's an order of magnitude more egregious to lie directly and emphatically in public as saban did. i don't really feel sorry for coaches, but they're in a bit of a damned if you don't, damned if you do situation.
Oh, don't get me wrong, Saban's move was much more egregious, and I am not naive enough to ever be surprised by coaches lying and moving on (remember Herm's bold-faced lies last year?)...I just think Petrino completely got off the hook.
Um, even though I don't care about soccer, this is huge news right?
Jan. 11, 2007 — International soccer superstar David Beckham is coming to America to play for a U.S. Major League Soccer team.
The U.K.-born Beckham, 31, will sign with the Los Angeles Galaxy.
that is indeed huge news. americans will care about soccer in droves, for at least the next 45 minutes or so.
anyone that's ever heard whit and me describe the fabled bullets' 'you the man' video can now view it on the dc sports bog. i'm weeping with joy.
i implore you to go watch it, and then picture whit, me, and our roommate dave "the admiral" robinson singing and dancing along at 2:00 a.m. on any given night in 1995-96.
Man that video is awesome...
awesome is such an inadequate word to describe that video
Super-Gheorgheness?
