That just changed:
Weird: The Al Yankovic story comes out on The Roku Channel on November 4. If you happen to be in Toronto a week from Friday, you can see it live at the Toronto International Film Festival. Judging by the trailer, and several reviews, Weird does for biopics/hagioraphies of musical personalities what its titular character did for pop music. Which is to say it's gonna be delightfully deranged.

Harry Potter & Dwight Schrute?!?!
I would have thought Weird Al would be a bit more mainstream than the Roku channel.
my wife and i actually saw weird al at the state theater in new brunswick-- my mother-in-law won some tickets- and he was amusing and entertaining (especially the opening montage) and then grew less and less so . . . we left at intermission.
did not realize mikhail gorbachev was still alive until i learned that he passed today. pour out some of the good vodka.
I’m in for sure on this Weird Al film. It’s preposterous, which I enjoy.
At a Norfolk Tides game. Opposing batter’s walk up music was Joe Jackson Stepping Out. Not that there’s anything wrong with it.
the rinky hijikata experience was fun while it lasted
hi gheorghies!
smokin' and drinkin' on a tuesday night!
really hope we get a scene of scenes involving the making of UHF
Wheel of Fish!
I enjoyed rob's hat tip to the three bad brothers you know so well. Also, I feel like I’m college we partied inordinately hard on Tuesdays for some reason.
This Serena match is worth watching, so says I
indeed. the commentary, less so. serena's getting pretty well outplayed in long rallies, but chrissie and mac keep lauding her.
Dionne Warwick is in the crowd and already knows what’s going to happen
i get jokes
You get the sense that Serena really has to win this first set
make it so, whitney
Wow. Nicely executed.
down goes palin. that's a shame.
serena's getting close to having to make a business decision about this second set.
kontaveit made it for her.
Indeed. Here we go.
just absolutely whaling on the ball, both of them
ain't that something?
Wowsers
I came home from my weekly pickup game last night just in time to watch most of the 3rd set of Serena's match. Perfect timing. She went to another level and the crowd helped get her there. That was a lot of fun. Kontaveit tried to keep up but she didn't have much of a chance once Serena and the crowd both started feeling it.
Sting played down this way last night. I didn’t go mostly because he calls the tour My Songs while he plays tunes from the Police as much as his solo stuff. Typical pompous Sting. But now looking at the dozens of my friends who went and are posting clips on social media, maybe I need to get over myself. Looked like fun.
Eh. Rob and I saw the reunion tour 20 years ago.
I'd like to see Sting just for the Police songs. I have zero interest in his solo stuff.
I have a chance to see Action Bronson (House of Blues Orlando) next week and Nas/Wu-Tang (West Palm) in 3 weeks (and free tickets). Both on school nights though so I'm torn.
I pull about a g a week, fuck school.
