Mundial de Globos!

There are very few areas of human endeavor at which I consider myself to be world class. Other than being in the top five Z players ever born, I struggle to think of even one thing. Or did struggle, I suppose.

Thanks to Barcelona legend (and Shakira's husband) Gerard Pique and a trio of siblings from Oregon, I've now found somewhere else to focus my considerable talents.

Let's let the Arredondo kids get us started:

Pique, who's building quite a sports/entertainment media empire (perhaps Adam Shefter might work for him someday), saw the viral phenomenon gain momentum and seized upon its popularity. He partnered with Spanish internet star Ibai Llanos to organize the very first Balloon World Cup.

Hosted in Tarragona, Spain, the event featured 32 teams representing countries around the globe. In a nice nod to the sport's humble beginnings, Antonio and Diego Arredondo repped the USA, though neither made it to the final, where Peru's Francesco de la Cruz ultimately defeated Germany's Jan Spiess to claim the very first world title.

He'll remain champion until I have sufficient time to train. Unless I get sidetracked by the Lead Balloon World Cup.

Danimal - yes, you should. I saw him play at Joe’s Pub in NYC a few years ago and he puts on an amazing show. I went on a whim not expecting that much and was blown away by how talented he is.

Mark is getting a fun one in red stick today

I like me some Scaggs. Lowdown is a funky soft-rock banger and Lido is fun.

Always fun to watch Texas spit the bit. They just had a feeble 4-and-out when down 1 w/ 4 mins left on their own side of the field.

Really poor coaching by OSU’s Gundy. Up 1 w/ 3 mins left, they score a TD in less than a minute. And they go for 1, not 2. So Texas gets it back w/ 2:18 left and 2 TOs in their pocket. OSU could’ve drained the clock by going down after getting a 1st down. Announcers clueless about all of this.

if you're rooting for the astros, you're on the same side as ted cruz. and that's...one to grow on.

If you’re rooting for the Red Sox you, you’re on the same side as Bill de Blasio - the only man that can bring Democrats and Republicans together in agreement that he is a dumpster fire.

i mean, those two things aren't the same.

One might argue that BDB has more blood on his hands.

Florida-LSU was a hell of a game. Anthony Richardson is an absolute stud. There’s no way Todd Grantham can be the defensive coordinator at Florida after this season. The game was fun. The result sucked. Im looking forward to New Orleans.

tough one for dave's bees today. outplayed chelsea pretty comprehensively and couldn't score. lost 1-0. zman's norwich really aren't very good. american josh sargent had a sitter for his first premier league goal and left it short, like a really bad putt.
