It's Alright, We're Doin' Fine, Fine, Fine

This is exactly why advanced technology is important and why the internet is, ultimately, great.

Found out yesterday that Florida-South Carolina will be a 7:30 kickoff next Saturday. That will require some pacing. There's at least a 75% chance that Greg won't remember the second half.

Whitney- you still going to be in Columbia next weekend?

Whitney said...

I'll be there, Mark. Looking forward to it. When do you get into town?

Mark said...

We're spending Friday night in Downtown Charleston and then driving in on Saturday morning. So around lunchtime would be my guess.

That sounds like a terrific Friday. Here's to making it an even better Saturday. At least you won't have to worry about the game going against your Gators. Gamecocks aren't too good this year.

W&M football is #27 in the polls (second highest of the "also receiving votes" teams). Unfortunately, we may not win our next three (JMU, Villanova, Delaware). Good to know that our middling football program is matched by our middling soccer team (6-6, 3-3 in conference).

TR is right with his seizure warning. Incredibly cute, though.

tribe men's soccer just recorded its first power 5 win since 2017, tr. knocked off nc state in raleigh for the first time ever. baby steps!

TR said...

That fact speaks volumes, Rob. Back in the day, beating a power 5 team was not a big deal.

learned tonight that a cat diaper is a thing. not that happy that there’s a reason i had to occasion to learn that.

I’ll say it. I couldn’t be less interested in the new Wes Anderson flick.

And the most twee, which makes his comment that much more surprising.

since i know you're following with interest, note that the tuscarora huskies cheer squad competes in the northwestern regional cheer championships. a top two finish secures a bid to the state championship meet. huskies have the talent to finish top two, but they need to execute. could be my daughter's last time on the floor in a high school uniform. hoping she gets one more.

I'll be glued. Good luck to your kidlet.

huskies put up a very good routine in the prelims, which left them second headed to the final round. after the first two teams in the finals were solid but unspectacular, all our girls needed was a clean routine to advance to states, and they were on a streak of five consecutive error-free efforts. they picked a particularly poor time to compete their worst routine of the entire year, and missed out on qualifying. my kid is basically inconsolable. time will heal her wounds, but it ain't a ton of fun around here.

Sorry about R, buddy. My best to her and you guys. You know this… our own pain pales in comparison to what we feel when our kids suffer from anything at all.

life is funny. she came home, face streaked with mascara and tears. we started talking about halloween costumes and riffing on the funny shit she'd like to say but never could in her senior night bio and we were laughing. a lot.

she's dealing with it okay. me, i've got some work to do as the milestones pass.

Whitney said...

Of course.

Oh, and hi gheorghies. Been a while...

This has been the weakest week in weeks. Come on, team.

I watched The Many Saints of Newark last night. Overall it was meh to quite meh. But it was a visual paean to big American convertibles from the 1960s and 1970s. Tony Soprano's Escalade has nothing on Dickie Moltisanti's Impala Super Sport.

TR said...

I second the mehs

Mark said...

I didn't mind it (which isn't exactly praise considering how much I loved Sopranos). However, I would be very interested in another movie that follows Tony as he moves into his early to mid 20s.

Impala, baby

Gonna be an ugly day in the markets tmrw. Apple and Amazon both getting their heads handed to them after-hours. I guess companies can’t grow hyperbolically forever.
