They're Making Them Faster Than I Can Watch Them

So it's been a while since I updated the gheorghies on my progress in the Music Documentary Lockdown Challenge.  Mainly because there's been little to no progress.

In lieu of that, there are even more music docs coming out soon. Check these out:

I think Mr. KQ sent this my way: Shane MacGowan / The Pogues

h/t to OBX Dave, get some Frank Zappa.

THE Chuck Berry

Other Music, NYC record store for the ages, RIP

Songwriters extravaganza

And finally: Camper van Beethoven and Cracker.
Please Note: this is not a trailer.  It's the whole documentary.

The YouTube notes: In 2016, I and many of my fellow loyal Crumbs spent $75K on Kickstarter to fund this film about David Lowery. The producers made the film...but didn't secure the rights to the music featured in the movie. (Genius.) Hence, it was never released.  This video is a rough cut. Comments welcome. I am making no money off this; rather, I am simply sharing with other loyal Crumbs for their enjoyment. Enjoy.

So I watched it all, as I'm a huge fan of both of his bands, and it's worthy. Dave and others, you'll enjoy.

According to Pfizer's CEO, he turned down Operation Warp Speed money for covid vaccine development because "I wanted to liberate our scientists [from] any bureaucracy that comes with having to give reports and agree how we are going to spend the money in parallel or together.” I look forward to anti-Trump conservatives pointing this out to prove that the government shouldn't pick winners and losers, and that the private sector will always out-innovate big government.

There is speculation that the record companies -- who not only hold the licensing on many of the songs played but also get some major mud slung at them in the doc -- may shut the Camper/Cracker doc down, so proceed quickly.

Sad but unfortunately true. Thanks, Al.

Op-Ed: Good luck, President-elect Biden. You’ll need it.

The Twitter machine says Shlara celebrates one decade of being cancer-free today. That, my friends, is something to celebrate.

Here’s to five more decades.

Whit - thanks for the reminder to watch that before it gets nixed. I'll dig in tonight.

Franken's piece is probably right on the money. Though I wonder if the terminal health status of that ilk's most talented gasbag will reduce their messaging efficacy.

Congrats to Shlara and best wishes to Danimal.

Congrats, Shlara.

Daminal, thoughts to you and family.

That Rahm hole in one today at Augusta was amazing.

Watching the RnRHoF induction show. Virtual this year, some really cool segments.

The In Memoriam was jarring; do we lose this amount of talent every year?

And the Marc Bolan / T. Rex piece was fantastic. My exposure to him is (for the moment) woefully slim. The quick footage of Ringo on drums, Elton on piano, and him on the axe as they play “Children of the Revolution” in some house in the 1970’s is rewind-obligatory.
The clip of him on a talk show shaking his head exactly like a little kid when asked if he worries what his life and rock and roll will be like when he’s 50... and why... and what came soon thereafter... damn, dude.
