in a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world, this little corner is an oasis of fellowship (and dipshittery). thankful for each and every one of you and our weird and wonderful community. blessed.

Gordon Jump’s finest moment remains the time when he tried to molest Dudley in Different Strokes.

Happy Thanksgiving.

We have made a habit of traveling on T-giving in the past. We are hunkered down this year. We decided to blow it out as normal, even though it’s just the four of us. Very fun day so far, w/ the kids chipping in on the cooking.

But I can hear that bottle of white wine saying “open me.” Its voice is growing louder in my head.

Whitney never forgets an unnecessary apostrophe in the middle of a word.

Happy T'giving er'ryone!

The 19 year old is home for the week. She’s very hungover today. I remember those Wednesdays before Thanksgiving.

I’m sipping on a Funky Buddha Hop Gun. Will be dipping into the medicinal soon before heading to my sister’s house. Need to have that appetite peaked.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have a propensity to be drunk by 2pm on Thanksgiving, needing to hunker down, focus on getting semi sober by 5, which I am doing....now.
Smoked our best turkey to date...got damn it was good. The dagger, our crazy neighbor complained of a bad turkey, "rotten", from whole foods. They have our leftovers now, all of em. Cajun smoked to perfection turkey. Love the husband. The wife should be committed. But they would do it for us, right? Yes they would (would never happen to us). Missing you blokes and gals

My turkey’s inner breast refused to get to 155 on schedule. I fear it was not fully thawed before the brine/cook. This is fouling things up. I need the drippings for my gravy and everything else is about ready. First world problems, I guess.

TR said...

I meant to type 165. It’s hanging in the 150’s.

Mark said...

I’m full on turkey neck, mashed potatoes. Mac and cheese and stuffing. How are y’all?

zman said...

I think you meant to type 169. Just sayin.

Fouling things up. Classic!

Fox outro music picking up where they left off in the World Series. Just heard Althea.

They also played Ain’t Life Grand by Panic. There is a hip, hip person working in that production truck.

Whitney said...

Yes they did! And the dude’s name is Joe Carpenter. So I was told by one of my heady friends.

It was as mellow a Thanksgiving as I’ve had yesterday. Slept late, rolled out to my dad’s place in Virginia Beach for a 4pm meal while we watched Washington trash Dallas (always one of my favorite things), had a Bloody and a few Heinekens along the way, then headed home. Not bad, just miss my girls. On to the next thing.

Thanksgiving means a whole lot of prep work and a whole lot of dishes. Glad it's only once a year, and look forward to eating at somebody's house next year. One positive is that I have a whole lot of leftover turkey that will hold up well during reheating b/c of the moisture from the brine.

Had a bit too much wine and a bit too much scotch. Not feeling stellar today. But we have nothing going on and there is good sports on the telly this afternoon. I will probably be 5 lbs heavier on Saturday from the carb overload. Will need to hit the nautilus machines next week.

Danimal said...

Leftover turkey. That sounds good. I am telling myself I am going to cook another one next Saturday just for the leftovers. And may spatchcock the thing just so I can use the word in the days leading up to and after. Spatchaaaaack.

On the plus side, my neighbor shared some of his Whistle Pig Boss Hog last night. Was pretty tasty. Like Tr, groggy today but rebounding w a bourbon n gingah.

rob said...

whistlepig, born in the same place as me. that's the good shit.

Danimal said...

I did not know that (Johnny Carson voice)

Danimal said...

I knew it was expensive so of course being a guy I had to look it up. $500. Redic.

Mark said...

Definitely overserved yesterday. Lots of bourbon. Made myself get a workout in this morning to sweat some shit out. Doing the TR and watching games with a drink or two. Haven’t dipped into the leftovers yet but there’s definitely an extravagant turkey sandwich and mashed potatoes on deck later.
