Homemade Music and Small Humans

Technology.  Pretty cool in lots of ways we've documented in this space before.  And many more.

Family bands. Used to be .0001% chance of stardom, 50% chance of playing in your local church, 90% of an abusive parent ruining everything and sending the kids spiraling into therapy.

These days, it's much easier.  You've seen some or all of these, but they make me smile.  And yes, I've lost my edge.

Adorable.  Shown here before. Sue me.

...amusing

...most amazing

...and something from your favorite GTBer's family

Make music, people.  It's easy.

i don't see the video from teejay's family

zman said...

Me neither but I assumed GTB's favorite family was selected from the group consisting of the Obama, Partridge, and Manson families.

also the 1979 pittsburgh pirates

Sly and Stone?

I am in Vegas. The economy is apparently doing quite well as this place is pandamonium at every casino. I do love waking up to sports - I was meant to live on the West Coast.

Made breakfast for the boys, helped my 6 y/o Lego savant son w/ a set AND taught the 4 y/o how to ride a two-wheeler. And it ain't even lunch yet. Dad of the day award goes to me.

Z- just sent you a SF rec email from my friend who was raised out there.

I'm really worried about Pitt. They match well with Florida, IMO.

Mark said...

Late addition that didn't make the email. Bun B playing a show at The Mezzanine tomorrow. A really cool venue. And it's Bun B!

Mark said...

Z- email me your phone #. My friend just sent me screen shots for a Freddie Gibbs/Madlib show as well as a DJ Shadow/Gaslamp Killer show in SF this week. Don't know how long you're there but...

Mark said...

Tomlin in the crowd wearing a Pitt shirt. Belichick wearing a Florida visor. Gators win that one.

mayhugh said...

Watching Florida for like the second time this year. They are so long at the 2-4 spots. And Patrick Young scares me.

rob said...

mark hates it when i say this, but the gators are really good. deep, big, athletic, can shoot, rebound, and defend, and wilbekin's as good a floor general as there is in the country.

mayhugh said...

I like what I see, too. Pitt has looked really good recently and was a buzzsaw in their first round game. The way Florida handled the last minute of the first half and came out in the first few minutes in the second half reflected a lot of maturity. Florida's hands are busy not only in the paint but out at the arc. This is pretty impressive to watch.

I do hate when Rob says it because I'm overly superstitious and don't wont to jinx them. They're tremendous defensively. The have stretches where they don't score because they're not great offensively but they're as deep as any team in the country, they play for each other on both ends and they're extremely well balanced. I love this team.

Also, Scottie Wilbekin is still the most underrated player in the country.

Newark airport is not a great place to hang out. Next to me is a pigeon with no right foot and one toe on its left foot.

zman said...

Now I'm surrounded by the NY Red Bulls.

zman said...

Now my flight is delayed until 5:20. Time to hit the Sam Adams brew club.

Clarence said...

Post updated. Audio song of my daughter and stepdaughter singing a song they wrote with an Idiot on guitar. I gave them the framework to write a song and the lyrics are theirs. No dumber than one of Dave's and my compositions.

zman said...

One of the red bulls has a Gucci backpack.

TR said...

Get me a Thierry Henry autograph pls. He's the 6' 2" African American bald dude w/ the beard who is being recognized by foreigners only.

zman said...

I saw that guy! He posed for a bunch of pictures.

mayhugh said...

Useless commentator speak (paraphrasing):

Commentator 1: [Player] has not shot the ball well today. Just 1 for 8. What is wrong?

Commentator 2: He's not shooting the ball with confidence?

C1: What does he need to do in this second half?

C2: He needs to shoot with confidence.

zman said...

I think he should shoot with accuracy.

rob said...

technically, tr, henry is afro-european, as he's not an american. mousse out front shoulda reminded you.

Mark said...

I own a Thierry Henry Arsenal jersey. I'll wear it for my first ever meeting with TR.

Clarence said...

Rob, that was very clever. Clarence likee.

I thought Belichick was a Gator fan because his daughter plays Lacrosse at UF. Turns out he and Donovan are friends. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/bill-belichick-recognizes-the-brilliance-of-florida-s-billy-donovan--even-if-few-others-do-192511711-ncaab.html

Dave said...

i can't believe you didn't consult me before going solo with a couple chicks! i think you're still under contract.

zman said...

Belichick is a huge Chad Jackson fan.

Clarence said...

Dave, you ate the contract with some salsa and 7-11 nuclear cheese. And Greasetruck has been solo for years. Time I started my own gig.

Mark said...

He did draft him. I swore Jackson was going to be a beast. Not so much.

mayhugh said...

Does Texas' coach know he gets timeouts to start the game with? Or does he have a bet as to how long he can go without using one?

T.J. said...

Dude, this is Rick Barnes you're talking about. The man is a turrible coach.

Mark said...

The coaching mismatch in this game is as significant as you're ever likely to see in an NCAA tournament game.

Mark said...

Michigan is so good offensively. Beilein is a borderline genius scheming offense and they have a great collection of skilled perimeter players.

rob said...

beilein's only 5-3 against w&m in his career. he can't be that much of a genius.

Mark said...

"Borderline genius scheming offense". Reading is hard.

Mark said...

I love Oregon's basketball unis. Clean, simple design. Colors that pop.

mayhugh said...

I approve as well. I'm a bigger fan of their offense, which seems to largely consist of "Whenever the other team scores, dribble down court at breakneck speed, pull up and nail a jumper". Did Chip Kelly run their basketball program too?

T.J. said...

Cu(gh)se

T.J. said...

Raf just used the term "dramatical". He is the best.

T.J. said...

That's horseshit

T.J. said...

Had their chances. Dammit.

rob said...

did not see dayton coming

Mark said...

I had Dayton in round 1. Can't say I thought they'd beat Cuse though. Fine with that, get them out of Florida's region. Now I need Kansas out of there.

Mark said...

Thank god for these evening games. Was starting to think this entire day of games was going to blow.

TR said...

Kevin Ollie needs to learn how to tie a tie.

Wife and I tried to make it through American Hustle. Couldn't do it. It is a hot mess. We stopped w/ 35 minutes left. Thank God they were serving scotch on my couch.

TR said...

And it was good to see Eli Thompson (Knucky's brother) pop up again, after a solid cameo in True Detective. Dude is blowing up after Boardwalk Empire shot its wad.

TR said...

Steve Smith is sucking on the halftime show.

Mark said...

I was happy for Eli when he showed up on True Detective. Less so when we saw him later as a drunk living in squalor.

TR said...

Agreed. I was afraid he would be guilty of something. You can't trust any guy with sideburns like the Honky Tonk Man.

TR said...

Clark Kellogg is rocking the "3-piece with the vest unbuttoned" look. Not strong, much like everything else he does in the studio.

Shlara said...

I love Raf

TR said...

Villanova's gonna lose.

rob said...

if their offense continues to be a pop-a-shot homage, they sure will

Mark said...

Shabazz!!!!

rob said...

shabazz shammshabazz

rob said...

shabazz napier says, 'hi gheorghies'!

TR said...

Villanova's gonna lose.

TR said...

In unrelated UConn news, Jake Voskuhl has 4 daughters and a size 16 shoe. And was a PiKa at Storrs.

Villanova's still gonna lose.

TR said...

Just between us ladies, I think Shabazz was Warren Roarking a bit with that "injury".

Clarence said...

Hey, Teej, I dig, "let's rock" I love Jenny, also, Teej suck sucks. Love.

Clarence said...

Also< the L's are the best bad going!!!!

zman said...

Bad or band?

zman said...

I just spent 7 hours in a plane with no wifi. How is that possible in 2014?

zman said...

How come nobody talks about Billy Donovan's hairline? What's up with that?

Clarence said...

Holy crap, I do not remember typing those last posts. Let's go.

Clarence said...

And it was "band," not bad. Also, Dave is a terrible guitarist.

zman said...

Where?

Clarence said...

Zman, you are an idiot.

Marls said...

Those last 5 posts are Clarence HOF worthy.

Clarence said...

Oh, boy. Some new friends came over for dinner. They brought Fireball.

Dave said...

it's breakfast now clarence.

Dave said...

says the guy who can't change his own guitar strings . . .

rob said...

with friends like those, clarence...

zman said...

Wait, the bad guitar playing in this post is Dave?
