For her birthday, Shlara gave GTB (well, me) a present

If you didn't wish Shlara a happy birthday over the weekend, you are a callous, hateful person. Or something. Anyway, I am 90% recovered from Winter Death Cold '14, and we are severely lacking in content around here, so as we await Day 12 of Gheorghemas, a gift, from the birthday girl herself:

Rex Chapman, Cal Cheaney AND Gheorghe? Blessed.

Yep, seems Shlara was cleaning out her parents place and found some retro Bullets swag, and I am more than giddy to frame these bad boys and place them in basement viewing room of Casa de Teej. Right next to the O.J. rookie cards and Nene/Strasburg bobbleheads.

Curious to hear what sort of stuff folks have displayed in their respective homes along these lines? I'm thinking Marls has a used Mackey Sasser jock on display, and perhaps rob a God Shammgod childrens small jersey on the wall?

So, I did find a lot of fun things tucked away at my parents house.

Sadly TJ, I don't think I can part with these kids mags.

But I DO have some fun treasures for you--that are even BETTER than the kids mags.

I bet they involve bacon.

if you haven't been to grantland's nfl's shootaround, do so and scroll down to the Charles Barkley interview. He is hammered.

That Barkley video is awesome and true, except for a mathematical error or two.

I own an old Expos All-Stars plaque/poster thing (in French) from the 1996 All-Star game that features Henry Rodriguez, Mark Grudzielanek and Pedro Martinez. It's autographed by all 3 guys.

I took it off the wall of the Spring Training complex when the Expos were becoming the Nationals. Thanks, Jim Bowden!

Zman, do you have an opinion on ARod's suit?

Geoff, do you have an opinion on ARod's suit?

I don't know much about A-Rod's latest legal gripe, but it sound like he agreed to binding arbitration, didn't like the result, and is now suing. Doesn't look like a great procedural posture to be in.

z really, really wants us to ask about his favorite procedural position.

Finally watched the 2-hr Best of Jimmy Fallon special from his five years on Late Night. It is unbelievably funny.

Big day at GTB. Big day.

Let's start planning the next GTB summit. Jersey?

zman said...

If you want to make a trip to Jersey tonight you can come with me to see Elf Power and Neutral Milk Hotel in Jersey City. I can probably scrounge up an extra ticket and even if not, this is the same venue where I saw Mangum last year and people were literally trying to give away single seats before the show started.

Jersey, Clarence? That's the best we can do?

The wife and I bought a new house. It's basically a complete renovation. We were supposed to move in this weekend. Unfortunately our contractor is a disorganized dolt. Move in date is pushed back a week now and he's regularly screwing up timelines, orders, etc. I blame Geoff.

Danimal said...

congrats. do you mean it's newly renovated, or you have to renovate it? either way, have fun with the move. I'd offer to come down and help but, ya know, no fucking way.

Mark said...

We bought it right before Thanksgiving. We hired a contractor to renovate the house. Now supposed to move in next Saturday. We'll see.

BTW, the video on today's Sentence of Dave confirms my previous assertion that NJ is the crookedest state in the union.
