Alienation's for the Rich and I'm Feeling Poorer Every Day

Despite my public renouncement of Redskins fandom (more particularly, as you know, of rooting for anything connected with Dan Snyder), I take no joy in the team's dismal season, nor in the sacking of yet another coaching staff. I only offer this dead-right observation, from Tom Boswell's column-long sigh about the end of the Shanahan era:

A boycott would be nice to see. I feel for you folks, sincerely. You used to have the 2nd greatest brand in football and one of the greatest in all of sport. Now look at ya.

there are some incredible tweets from reporters covering today's presser about the bizarre security at redskins park. everything snyder touches turns to shit.

schiano, dead!

It is sad commentary that my #1 defense for keeping Shanahan would have been that no other competent and respected coach would want to lead this team.

Schwartz, Rob.

So the headline said Shanahan's staff was fired as well. Does this include Haslett? I trust it includes Special Teams Coach Keith Burns.

It's so bleak in Washington football world. We all know that know intelligent coach worth his salt will ever work for Snyder. Whoever takes the job will be a reach at best.

At least I have Tribe hoops to cheer me up now and the Mets in a few months. Blech.

sources tell me lane kiffin en route to redskins park.

Schiano is available, Skins fans.

I'd bet (and hope) it's Cowher. He'd have no prob telling fanboy to pissoff

rob said...

why in joe gibbs' name would cowher want this job? other than scads of money? and it it's scads of money, he could get that from any of the other teams currently seeking a head coach.

Snyder has a penchant for hiring coaches who peaked in the 1990s so I expect him to hire George Seifert, Bill Parcells, or Jimmy Johnson. Or Michael Richards, who brings added value in that he won't be offended by the word "R**skins".

Danimal said...

a Seifert hire would be very impressive

Twitter says they've already met twice. Double the scads of money. And don't forget about the modern day Slash. Axl will be jealous.

Mark - can I assume you're taking Oregon this evening? Yes? Okay, I'll take the sentimental pick - Mack and his 'Horns. What do you say Mark? 14.5 is what the line is. The games are running out.

rob said...

cowher wouldn't take snyder's job with bea arthur's dick

hey, the giants beat the skins! sad that i just found that out . . .

That is pathetic. Almost as pathetic as the game itself. And the future of Washington football.

you guys wanna laugh until tears come out of your eyes? about something other than the redskins?

Danimal- I'm leaning on taking Oregon but am worried about the Mack's last game momentum. Though I think the Oregon D will have a similar thing going since DC Nick Alioti announced he's retiring after this game.

Also, check your email.

Danimal said...

So far it looks like that worked out for me. I don't see an email though, when did you send?

Danimal said...

Disregard. I do have said email. It was in my junk folder where only the emails from the coolest people go.

Mark said...

Glad to know my emails are of high priority. Not that they have any right to be.

Danimal- Did you enjoy betting on Case McCoy? Not rubbing it in. I made the same mistake against Baylor. The Case McCoy led Texas offense is BAAAAD.

1. The clips of Tim Kurkjian laughing are hilarious
2. When is ESPN going to wise up and have a "coach Kliff cam" for the ladies?

Mark said...

If you're as immature as me you'll really enjoy this http://Instagram.com/p/ikqAKsN74z

Mark said...

Good call on Coach Kliff cam, Shlara. At least as an option on ESPN3.

mark - I went to bed after the 1st half. I'm old. That pick 6 wasn't entirely his fault - could have been caught. Throw in 3 very catchable balls that were drops, a couple on 3rd down. That tight end of theirs, #82 should play volleyball.

A small chuckle amid another depressing article:

Another Shanahan draft pick, running back Alfred Morris, also declined to speak Monday morning, saying he needed to leave immediately if he was to make it to Chick-fil-A before it stopped serving breakfast.

I like Alfred quite a bit.
