Good Tidings of Great News (*cough*)

Though this news won't be of much benefit to the upstanding citizens of the G:TB community, a University of California, San Francisco study caused Taco Bell stock to rise dramatically this week.

According to researchers who studied more than 5,000 subjects over 20 years, smoking one marijuana cigarette (commonly referred to as a 'joint', I'm told) a day for up to seven years does not hurt lung function. In fact, the researchers note that occasional pot smokers may show increased lung function, given the need to expand the lungs to inhale marijuana smoke effectively. So I've heard.

The news wasn't all sensemilla and smiles for budding tokers, as the researchers caution, "The lack of ill effect for occasional pot smokers may be good news for people considering marijuana for pain control or other medical purposes. ...our findings do suggest an accelerated decline in pulmonary function with heavy use and a resulting need for caution and moderation."

Caution and moderation, friends. Though I know this doesn't apply to any of our regular readers, you may wish to share this with people you know. It's good advice.

Lamar Odom approves.

To both that comment...and this post.

Burger King is testing out home delivery in the Washington, DC area. Teej, how about a test/report?

T.J. said...

Already voiced my displeasure on twitter with BK not putting me on the initial testers list.

I would like a report ASAP on their new fries.

Squeaky said...

Their fries are awful.

T.J. said...

Yep, Squeaks is right, their new fries suck.

Mark said...

How many times has BK unveiled new fries? Seems like it's happened often over the last 15 years or so. Still can't hold McDonald's fries' jock.

T.J. said...

Even Wendy's fries now kick BK's fries' ass.

Popeye's fries are under-appreciated.

Arby's curly fries are the shizznit.

Popeyes, Checkers & Arby's fries are all exceptional.

this is (hypothetically) fantastic news! it was my hypothetical friend's only concern about smoking pot.

i would also like to point out that rob and igor were not my only friends in college, and that i occasionally ate without them, and that i had a whole separate life where i went fishing and crabbing quite a bit and often ate what i caught. because they are calling bullshit to this on SoD. doug, fogg, fish, bob? chime in here?

Squeaky said...

You went fishing with Malone?

zman said...

I went crabbing in college but did not eat what I caught.

Clarence said...

When you smoke too much pot in college, you memories of college are very hazy. Sometimes, you go all Walter Mitty and invent alternate lives for yourself. Lives filled with catching and eating catfish, sometimes.

But I did get a hearty chuckle at his attempt to elicit corroboration from four guys he hasn't seen in many years (excepting Mazzoni, whom we saw at the mini-Summit at the Gresetrucks) and who almost certainly have no idea this blog exists.

Dave said...

i had to explain to mazzoni about the internet on the bar crawl-- but, and it's too bad he won't confirm, our topic of conversation (after not seeing each other for years) was fishing! believe it or not.

zman said...

I never ate at a Checker's before. Am I missing out.

rob said...

in dave's defense, he may be equating the collection of mickey's bigmouth 'loobster' claws with fishing. we did do a lot of that.

Clarence said...

In a related story, anybody ever have the Popeyes catfish sandwich? (Other than Dave)

Clarence said...

Mazzoni needs to get back into the fold. As I see it, these are the 3 steps of re-introduction into our group of idiots:

1. Start reading Gheorghe: The Blog
2. Hang out with us.

wow. rob...just seeing this. i'll take it considering we've had two studs decommit to go elsewhere, one to numb nuts at Oh.S.U.

rob - i presume you're making every attempt to get the italian cruise ship captain for an interview?

Speaking of whom, did G:TB review the ESPN airing of "The Play That Changed College Football"? December was hazy at best, but I enjoyed the documentary and wondered about Mark's and Rob's take.

rob said...

i believe dave is planning to speak with the costa concordia captain in the next in his series of interviews. i may have him confused with almighty yojo. dave, that is. i may also have him confused with noted angler roland martin.

Danimal said...

that was a fine program. but "the play that changed college football"? yeah, not really.

Danimal - Saw it on the tweet machine today. Good for him. Matthews was the first QB to really grasp Spurrier's system at Florida (went into his first spring practice 7th on the depth chart...yes, 7th) and help in elevating Florida to elite status under SOS. I'll also have to try these pistachios you speak of. Don't know if they can compete with wasabi & soy almonds but if they're even close. I'm game.

Zman - If you enjoy greasy burgers. You should at least give Checker's a try. Some people disagree with me but their Champ burger is GOOD. And their seasoned fries are epic. Greg makes a point to eat Checker whenever he comes home to Florida. Though, I'd hardly consider great an arbiter of "good taste".

were you guys also aware that i had a hydroponic onion farm in my dorm room?
