Hey Everybody!

Good morning from New Orleans. I am here for work, and will be for several days, so why don't you folks jump in the comments and help the ole Teej out with some unique, non-French Quarter-y suggestions in this town. Warning though, Igor has already sent me a "War and Peace" length email with suggestions, so I might not get to all the GTB gold star recommendations.

Hear the Garden District is nice - and, of course, Abita Beer.

At what point does McShay jump through the TV and rip out Kiper's eyeballs?

Umm... Harrah's? It's technically outside the FQ.

Just don't ask for an "extra" spicy bloody mary down there. They put some crazy stuff in there.

Mahoney's for a delicious po-boy.

itineraries and "must-sees" are stifling to me, especially when hunkering down is the priority. go where the wind takes ya. if it takes you to fahey's irish pub on burgundy, so be it.

just make sure you raise a glass to sparky anderson...r.i.p.

I disagree with the Dan-train. Go where the wind takes you and you may end up in some subpar hotel bar when you could be mere blocks from the best thing going. I like to heed the advice of locals and frequent visitors.

Le BonTemps in the Garden District. Do it. Do it.

Trivia question: what famous franchise owner encouraged Sparky Anderson to get into managing?

His Holiness Jack Kent Cooke.

Mother's restaurant is always good for a hangover.

it's tough to beat commander's palace if you want something fancy. their bourbon and milk cocktail is surprisingly good.

Danimal said...

i never say "mother's" without saying it like DANZIG

is the bourbon and milk just bourbon and milk? anything else in there that you know of?

Danimal said...

still thinkin 'bout the bourbon and milk...

It's got something sweet in it too. I think they call it milk punch?

danimal likes intraweb machine.

you give your wife a bourbon milk punch cocktail, you feed her for a day....you teach her how to make one, she feeds you for a lifetime.

Teej, where are you? Cooter Brown's?

I drink bourbon and muscle milk.

Danimal said...

Just had a Bourbon milk punch....am w out nutmeg and had to use skim milk. I believe the nutmeg and whole milk would take the drink from 2 stars to possibly 3.
Am watching the Marion Jones 30 for 30. Low expectations here.

mayhugh said...

The Marion Jones one was one of the poorer 30-for-30 efforts. No structure whatsoever.

I concur
