C'mon, Man

Look, I like Lionel as much as the next guy. Unless the next guy is the Teej or Greg. But last night was the first night of the college basketball season, and the Wrens tip off on Friday evening against UVA (followed by trips to Richmond and Syracuse and a December tilt with UNC - I like what you're doing, Coach, even if this year's record may bear the brunt), so it's time for the squeak of shoes on parquet, the roar of the crowd, the just-audible rustle of a Kentucky tutor completing a starting guard's term paper.

More futile superfandom to come (for the record, we buy what most people are selling regarding the Tribe's transition season), but until then, we commend to you the brilliant Kyle Whelliston's work at The Mid-Majority, Eric Angevine and his gang at Storming the Floor, and last but most certainly not least, FOG:TB Michael Litos at CAA: Life as a Mid Major.

Somewhere in the Adair Building, amid a Kinesiology midterm, there are a slew of Tribe footballers wondering why on earth G:TB is hearlding their counterparts on the men's hoops team instead of their own ascension in the rankings. A few stray comments do not a fitting tribute make.

...as I return to work and other non-GTB tasks.

And that's how the football team spells "heralding," so I went with it.

College Hoops. Yes.

we're not talking about the #1 ranking until they defend it at least once.

I accidentally stumbled upon the Pitt-Rhode Island game last night. It's quite nice to have CBB back. Florida tips off on Friday night and then takes on Ohio State in Gainesville next Tuesday. I am very, very pumped for this year's edition of Gator Basketball.

Also, I doubt anyone here wants to hear it BUT Duke's gonna be scary good this year. Deep, athletic and frosh PG Kyrie Irving might be the best PG in the country. I've seen him play a couple times in the past year. Unstoppable with the ball in his hands.

this is the time of year when g:tb becomes incomprehensible to me. luckily, soccer season is over and greasetruck is back in the studio.

Knicks are losing 41-19 to the Bucks. In the first quarter. Lemoyne-Syracuse CBB is starting to look good.

I can't believe I am watching this Knick game. They look fucking terrible.

If you want to "upgrade" to a better game, may I suggest Cavs-Nets on the YES network?

I am enjoying the Marcus Dupree 30 for 30.

Ichiro's a HoF lock now, right? 10 years, 10 gold gloves, 10 200+ hit seasons, 383 steals, .331 career average. He's 756 hits away from 3,000. That would be a fantastic feat, considering he didn't get his first hit until he was 27.

I can't wait to see him get negged on the firt ballot by crusty old white men for no good reason.

my friend eric and i have cornered the market on "residual glee."

Squeaky said...

Dave, I found your daily sentence full of "residual glee". And it does indeed look like you cornered the "residual glee" market when I search google for "residual glee". I hope any "residual glee" I have from my searching won't skew the results and ruin your cornering of the "residual glee" market.

T.J. said...

Well played Squeaky.

Dave said...

dammit. i need to copyright that phrase! even though i'm not even the one who invented it. then every time someone types "residual glee" they'll have to pay me a nickel.

Danimal said...

or, a residual

Dave said...

wow. that's a good pun.
