Andrew Romine isn't very good at professional baseballing. In 508 games, he's hit 10 homers, driven in 79 runs, and posted a .602 OPS. He aspires to mediocrity.
But tonight, he entered into the G:TB pantheon. Tonight, Andrew Romine went Full Bogar.
In the waning days of a miserable season for the Detroit Tigers, skipper Brad Ausmus let Romine play all nine positions, making him the fifth player in history to do so at the major league level. It's likely to be the highlight of Romine's MLB career, just like it was the highlight of a long-lost minor league ballgame for a group of college-aged idiots.
Sports, though they're too conflated with the clusterfuckery of the modern world at the moment, are still awesome.

OJ is out!
I believe what tut meant to say is "The Juice is loose!".
King Tut?
Aminhotep.
Musical Gheorghies - a leader tasked me to recommend some "walk up music" for him for a coming presentation. He wants something recent and my music knowledge stops at about 2005. Can I get some help? Only criteria - recent, fairly work appropriate. To paraphrase Russell Hammond, just make me look cool...
what's his taste? alternative? country? screamo?
One recommendation: "Intro" by The xx.
The Bills are good?
And the Texans currently have 57 (57!) on the Titans?
That's a great recommendation by TR. The wife and I waked in to our wedding reception to "Spottieottiedopalicious", which is also never a bad choice.
This guy is probably more into hip hop or pop. His go to right now is Bruno Mars. Will try out the recs.
Curb your enthusiasm is back tonight right? Curb >> Seahawks/Colts.
In the past 10 days, I've attended performances by Adam Ant, Jack Johnson, the Psychedelic Furs, and a Grateful Dead cover band. I'm probably not the best person to consult on recent pop music.
depending on his level of self-importance, aloe blacc's 'the man' is both fun and aggressive.
living colour is playing my local venue in october. what's your favorite color, baby?
Living Colour put on one of my favorite shows of all time. Boathouse '89. Just a few years ago.
according to the interwebs, they still tour with their original lineup. kinda excited.
Isn't that the Friday of Homecoming weekend? Dude.
Not that any of you other "alums" bother coming down for a gathering of old friends at our alma mater. Marls excepted, perhaps.
i spoke to marls about this situation over a couple of beers in a bucolic county brewery setting just a few hours ago. as i'm a dedicated father and pillar of my community, i have to coach a pair of soccer games that saturday and sunday. and as a conscientious though sometimes less than fully-committed employee of the man, i have to jump on a train sunday afternoon to head to philadelphia for a conference. so my homecoming will be more home and less coming. which, when i think about it, is basically my average weekend.
Colts' long snapper is Tribe alum Luke Rhodes (#46). Tribe pride!
I have no idea what or how, but something needs to be done to curtail mass shootings.
The answer is clearly more guns. If people could carry openly and not deal with pesky permit laws this would never happen. Ohhh, the mass shooting happened in Nevada where that is already the case? Nevermind.
Even if you want to accept "more guns" as the solution, how many and why type of guns would be needed to stop a guy shoot down from the 32nd floor of a building across the street at night while you're standing in a fairground presumably lit by klieg lights?
A little Gheorgheian local news to distract from the other depressing news.
RIP Tom Petty. Holy crap.
This is surely one of the worst fucking Mondays in history, right?
I'll be in Gainesville this weekend. Hopefully the play lots of Petty on the The Swamp on Saturday.
Just changed up the ORF Rock track list for tonight to ensure we get some Petty songs on the air.
I'd already been kicking myself for not making it to a show on this year's tour.
I'm going to crank up some Mudcrutch on my ride home today!
I blew off seeing him at jazz fest this year because it was raining. Lame excuse. Saw him in Northern Virginia in the 90s and in San Francisco a few years ago. Always an outstanding performer.
Blew off seeing him at jazz fest because it was a fucking monsoon and nobody was sure they were even going to play. Still lame, but not as lame.
At least you saw him. His version of cry to me from the boxed set is a good 'urn, and fitting today.
zson loves the Solomon Burke version so we need to check out Petty's cover.
Dylan and Lynne are tast Wilburys standing.
American Girl may have been the most played Jersey Shore bar band cover song ever. Never got old, unless the band sucked.
Petty was interviewed by Maron several years ago. Totally entertaining. Seemed to be an awesome dude
I only ever bought Full Moon Fever and the Greatest Hits. Both on cassette.
The Iovino/Dre doc had some good Petty color.
And the Freefalling video featured a spandex-wearing female skateboarder with tremendous camel toe. Before you hate on that comment, remember it was '91, I was 16 and options were limited.
RIP, Tom.
Ending the day with the premiere of Curb. I recommend the same if you haven't already.
Petty is still alive!
2017 version of TR has limitless options.
petty is my favorite, especially "don't come around her no more," which i named the greatest recording of all time in some hyperbolic g:tb post. i don't know if i can go through his death all over again, but this first fake version really moved me (and we were recording the podcast tonight, so we've got my heartfelt reaction to his fake death on audio). weird.
curb your enthusiasm?
Dave, we played hay very song on he radio show tonight. It's a keeper.
the radio, he radio, she radio...
Jay Gruden calls the dumbest time-out of the season and KC wins the game. He should not be the head coach.
