I made a good tweet

My tweet is a high-quality tweet and I applaud its transparency.

If you like tall people then get excited--there are three 6'6" guys left in the men's draw at Wimbledon. The smart money is on Federer but I'm rooting for Berdych. He's been around forever and it seems like he ought to get one major.

I'm pulling for the lone short guy, because height.

I like tall people. But I'm rooting for Federer because I also like old people. Relatively speaking.

So much for love and happiness.

i'm pleased that whitney's misguided amy shark opinion drove a postcount uptick.

rob said...

the wapo called the trump administration a 'confederacy of dingbats' today. this seems mean to dingbats.

Whitney said...

Truth be told I haven't listened to Amy Shark. I just played off TR's Spinal Tap reference.

Jr. justified his attempt to get involved with Russia by asserting that it might've led to proof that Hillary was involved with Russia. Dingbats is too kind a term.

my son ian is headed for wimbledon and i trained him. dad of the year stuff. more about this on SoD

i've been avoiding current politics and just coaching various kids sports but i'm assuming there's something going on with a "peepee tape"? i'm not even going to google it, someone will explain it to me on the OBFT.

rob said...

dave is setting the bar high for his tennis playing at obft. me, i'm just hoping not to hurt myself.

Dave said...

i'm going to hurt your chest with a blistering topspin forehand. i'm carrying some weight though, so you have to promise to hit the ball right to me. is zman in this year?

zman said...

I am in and I feel like all this tennis banter is a ruse to make me bring a racquet so you can laugh at me, although being laughed at is a significant part of OBFT so maybe I should bring a racquet regardless.

rob said...

bring two - mine might have a busted string.

Dave said...

hungover tennis is no laughing matter. jerry, rob, and i really needed a fourth last year to avoid barfing.

Dave said...

clarence can also play. elliott?

rob said...

clarence is never out of bed before 11:15, so that might be a stretch.

When is Clarence, Rob or Dave gonna do the definitve Todd Durkin post? He has created a massive fitness marketing machine. He sowed his oats by training Bree's and LDT, and now has a fitness empire.

TR said...

Forgot to add that there's a dash of Joel Osteen in his biz. He does some faith/motivational stuff that is less impressive to me than his global fitness empire (which is very impressive to me).

I'm not a stalker. I just follow him on Instagram. Curious what you old people who were closer to his "grade" think.

Whitney said...

I didn't know him well but he came to Apple Blossom one year. Took his shirt off for the parade and a bumblebee got tangled in his chest hair. Not helpful, I know. But maybe that's what spurred him on to great success.

rob said...

coincidentally, i had lunch today with a kappa sig and we talked about durkin's empire. apparently he was just on a fitness reality show competition, too. i'd write something, but like whitney, i didn't know him very well. i'm confident dave has never heard of him.

zman said...

I stuck my gherkin in Mrs. Durkin.

Durkin is tight w the crew that we Winc boys became fairly close with. On occasion I attend a yearly trip they partake in though it has been a few years since doing so. Two years ago they visited San Diego and spent a morning in his gym w Durkin and a few NfL'rs including Sanchez and one of today's best defenders but I can't remember who the hell it was. A few funny stories from that day and others that he has passed along to those fellas. He has become the go-to trainer for the elite in the NFL. Todd is always invited on the trip but can never swing it. We were often in the same space back in the college days but I really don't remember him if I'm being honest.

I met him the summer I was a RA...he liked a girl who lived on my hall. Or seemed to. He was a nice guy. Looking at his website, he has aged in the face for someone so fit. Maybe it's the sun. Looks successful indeed. But the language of Mastermind program, etc is rather cult-ish. Osteen-like--a bit scary to me.
