Media Types, Man Your Battle Stations

Minneapolis just got awarded the 2018 Super Bowl. (Moments after I landed at MSP, in fact. Coincidence? I think so.) Here's what February looked like this year:

On the other hand, the new stadium's gonna be gorgeous. And under a roof.

people on twitter got mad at me today for suggesting that the spurs are better than any of the teams jordan's bulls took out in their heyday. what say the gtb hoops cognoscenti? i realize there were some really good jazz, suns, blazers, knicks, etc teams back then, but i've got a very high opinion of this spurs group.

I am cloaked in immense power!!

I think it's too hard to compare different eras. The Pistons, Knicks, Heat of the 1990s couldn't play that style today. Jordan beat the 1990 Pistons to get to the finals and that was a nasty team. They would main the Spurs' polite Euros.

The Lakers and Sonics and Blazers were great too.

and south americans.

but i take your point.

This Spurs team is really, really good. But only one of their stars is in his prime and the other two are at the very back end of their careers. That hurts your case, Rob.

I don't believe there's an absolute right answer here but a case can certainly be made for the Suns, Sonics and Jazz as being better than this version of the Spurs.

Magic end up with the 4th and 12th picks in the draft. Close to a worst case scenario.

that's a fair point, mark. it's really hard to quantify the value of their team play - the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. thay may be what i'm reacting to with this spurs team.

the twitter discussion began when dan dakich broke bad on durant, saying that jordan's teams never got smoked like the thunder did last night. jordan's teams also had a whole lot better supporting casts than durant does, especially with ibaka out. i was defending durant. 'cause i'm in the tank for that guy.
