WOW

Have to admit, I didn't pay much attention to the commercials last night and actually, the game got out of hand so quickly I even tuned it out for much of the second half to addictively scroll through Twitter. So rather than post a clip of a "good" commercial from last night's broadcast, let's just take Deadspin's lead and share with you, loyal GTB readers, this absolutely f*cking over-the-top ad from a Georgia ambulance chaser. This thing is amazing:

First off - wow, that commercial is insane in a lot of ways. The production values are off the chart for a personal injury add. I like the references to his other commercials, including the quick shot of him throwing gold coins at the camera (I thought there was something in the Ethics rules against promising results).

Secondly, to what Danimal was talking about last night, I have been surprised at the general lack of vitriol for (and some outright defenses of) Manning in the media. A quick googling of "Peyton Manning Legacy Tarnished" or "Peyton Manning Destroys Legacy" got back few on point hits. There are a couple of very minor online publications that took that route but nothing from the mainstream that I could see as yet.

Boston commentators will be a different animal. I feel like I typed this last week, but 31 of 32 fanbases would agree with the simple premise that "Peyton Manning is a great quarterback". The 32nd fanbase would say "No way is he bettah than Tawm Brady".

Forgotten in all the madness is what a great fake name "Jamie Casino" is.

Lowell the Hammer Stanley needs to up his game.

Greg said...

Anybody else notice that the cross on the hammer was on fire? Like a KKK subtle reference? Or maybe coincidence?

mayhugh said...

You call. We hammer them to the wall.

Lowell Stanley states, "Corporations don't cry, smile, or laugh. They don't feel or care. I care about my clients. A $4,000 case is just as important to me as a $400,000 case. I care for the injured, the forgotten, and the damned. I make sure their rights are preserved."

I'd like to see the patent and T&E versions of this ad.

So, should I just take all of my money out of the stock market now or wait another week?

that community of dipshits led by the mid-majority guy who blocked me on twitter has a contest every year to see who can be the last one to hear the result of the super bowl. it's too precious by half, and twice as stupid. i like mid-major basketball. i also like football. it's possible to hold both thoughts in one's head at the same time with compromising one's ethical standards. douchewhistles. check out #lastman.

It is such a dumb movement.

Unless, Rob, you are an utter simpleton. Then it's really hard to root for both.

Marls said...

If you love college basketball wouldn't you want to hear the final score of the super bowl as soon as possible. From that point on, until the end of March, college basketball takes centerstage on the american sports landscape. The final gun of the super bowl should be a moment of celebration for these tools, not something to hide from like a mole hides from the sun.

Just sayin'

did he grow the beard during the shooting of the commercial? that's badass. if i get injured in georgia . . .

Sort of like the "master of my domain" episode of Seinfeld?

Danimal said...

then just wear some loafers. or flip flops. ditch the tie, tousle the hair a bit. he might think you're cool. but doubtful.

You're an infant in adolescent's clothing.

Tomorrow is National Signing Day and Florida is still in the mix for a number of 4 & 5 star players. Of course, I have a big meeting at 10 am tomorrow. Total bullshit.

Speaking of NSD, this article on former 5 star LB Willie Williams is terrific.

zman said...

It's Willie Williams! Down with the pilgrims!

rob said...

buncha slack-ass slackers.

Danimal said...

Florida's Patric Young has disturbingly ripped arms. Makes me feel even more slovenly than normal.

Mark said...

He's huge. And he can't finish for shit.

NSD fun: a kid committed to Stanford this morning and did so by pulling a tree out of his pocket during his signing ceremony.

Danimal said...

would like to see a gator or lsu commit try and pull something similar.

any of you fellas heard of/been to a Slackers show? have a neighbor that more or less worships them. went and saw them at a bar last night - pretty good stuff.
