Dedicated to the premise that life would be better if we all took ourselves a little less seriously.
i appreciate that the media needs a good story, but if anyone other than rg3 wins the nfl rookie of the year, it's a traveshamockery. russell wilson's a nice story, but griffin's numbers are better across the board. and andrew luck's really good, too, but he's not nearly as efficient as rg3. not even close.
@twoeightynine?you mean @twoeightnine?
Twitter Police! Of course, you hang around @baconbaking, so that makes sense!hahahahahahahaStill inebriated from Christmas.
The Gheorghemas delay is on me. As it turns out, you have significantly less free time when you have an 11 month old running wild in your house. What the fuck, kid? Can't like read a book for a while or something?
right, teej. i'll fix that.
but you already did. good man.
I heard one of the ESPNcino Men remark that Russell Wilson would have his vote because nobody expected the Seahawks to win this many games. I'm not sure that's the entirety of the necessary analysis there, dude.But... the coronation of RGIII has been a little over the top. He's more level-headed than most any rookie out there, but losing out on RoY might give him a little extra sump-um sump-um in the tank.
hi gheorghies! i am reading G:TB in the lobby of the hotel in new hampshire. i will leave it on the screen and perhaps we will gain some new readers. it is snowing like fuck here! strange place because the hotel has a water park inside and a ski mountain next door (cranmore) so people are either walking around the hotel in bathing suits and towels, or completely decked out in ski apparel. i need to snap some pics.and i'm glad we're pulling in some folks from arkansas .. . even if they hail from jersey.
so there's only one hotel in new hampshire.
RGIII would have to have an incredibly poor game to fall from a secure #1 seed in ROY votes. I think that's in the realm of possibility. It almost feels like TOO MANY things have gone the Skins' way this year. They've been awesome in takeaways (and keepaways) but I feel like that could swing the opposite direction at any time.I feel like this game is going to get out of hand, one way or the other. The Skins should have a great, raucous crowd and I actually think they need it. If they can get a big play on either side of the ball early, I feel like the crowd might propel them. But I think it is almost as likely to happen on the other side.
RGIII leads the league in yards per passing attempt AND yards per rushing attempt. He also has the lowest interception percentage in the league on a healthy 375 attempts. His advanced passing metrics are all at least 12% above league average except for sack percentage (which is 8% higher than league average). He has a 104.1 quaterback rating which is second best in the league and a 71.09 QBR which is fifth best in the league. He also has the fifth highest completion percentage (66.4%) and he led the league in this metric at one point. He threw 20 TD, rushed for 6 TD, and has the Skins on the cusp of their first 10-win season since 2005 despite having the 30th-ranked pass defense. The Skins are ranked 4th and 5th in points and yards, respectively, on offense even though they haven't ranked higher than 25th and 16th, respectively, in the previous four seasons. He's throwing to Pierre Garcon, Santana Moss' withered husk, and Fred Davis; this troika has one Pro Bowl appearance in 22 collective seasons. Russell Wilson's had a hell of a nice year but he has the luxury of playing with the defense that allowed the fewest points and the 4th fewest yards. Andrew Luck's year was very good as well but he leads the league in interceptions, completed only 54.3% of his passes, and plays for a team with a history of offensive excellence featuring All-Pro Reggie Wayne. So it seems like RGIII has a leg up on the ROY.
Because I'm bored and toolish ... RGIII has the 14th lowest INT% in league history. Since 1920, only 16 QB's have attempted 300 or more passes and thrown 5 or fewer TDs. He still has a game left to throw more picks (or lower his INT%) but it's safe to say that Griffen is having an all-time great rookie QB season.
unless Fred Davis made a miracle recovery, he's throwing to Logan Paulsen, which makes it even more impressive
Nice facts. What's somewhat interesting (to me) is that even with a statistically terrible defense, the Redskins always defer the coin toss, electing to take the ball in the second half. I wonder if this is because they think an opponent is more prone to run the ball in a scoreless game and, having a stout run defense, they want to get the defense out to a good start. I'm not sure this holds much water. And how many of the Gheorghies know that defering on the initial coin toss does not necessarily mean you will receive the ball in the second half?
And Fred Davis ruptured his Achilles a number of weeks ago. His replacement on the roster, the beloved but aged Chris Cooley, just caught his first pass last week. With the subpar o-line, the injuries to the d-line, and the secondary that couldn't cover the CAA, it's a huge surprise that the Skins have squeezed off six straight. Give the coaches some credit (which I often don't), give the receivers a little, give the linebacking corps of Fletcher, Jackson, and Riley quite a bit, give RGIII a whole lot.
Duh. And Alfred Morris. Thought I had included him.
the unicorn mask worn by guy w/matching unicorn robe continues to freak me out.
my initial comment on rg3 was prompted by some knuckleheads on the interwebs saying that russell wilson was their choice as roy. wilson's been great. griffin's been historic for a rookie. it's really not even close.
It pains me to say supportive things about a Redskin but Griffen deserves the ROY this year and maybe even a little consideration for MVP. The Skins would be dreadful without him.
Agreed. Alfred Morris would have half the yards he has now of not for the threat of the zone read. Perhaps the statistics don't support it, but it seemed like two of his worst games were 1) the Cousins start and 2) the second Philly game where Griffen couldn't run over half-speed.
Danimal, only two hotels in all of NH and VT that have water-park and ski mountain combo.Dave, enjoy that hotel and stay out of the water-park. They seem to close it down due to high bacteria about two-three times a year. Don't know how they are still in business.
griffin does not have an 'e'. this should not be something i have to point out to tribe fans.
days 10 and 11 are now written. clarence is hard at work on day 12. if only we had a day 9 to connect the dots.no, i'm not bitter about having to work today. why do you ask?
