From the Mouths of Doggs

I don't intend this to be a political commentary. If anyone can find a similarly goofy takedown of President Obama, I'm happy to post it as a response*. I just find Snoop entertaining, and find the notion of foreign journalists asking his opinion on U.S. politics even more so. Enjoy the Doggfather as he drops knowledge.

*Note that this is boilerplate language suggested by G:TB's legal staff and probably not an accurate statement.

Notre Dame is joining the ACC? Whatever.

Jerry said...

Agreed, but not so whatever if it's true that they're playing 5 ACC teams/year in football now.

I can't decide if I like this every week Thursday night NFL. I'm inclined to start with no and see what happens.

T.J. said...

Yeah, I was really confused about this Thursday night game this week. Had no idea it was every week this season.

Jerry said...

Also, who's in favor of calling TJ "GTB" in person?

T.J. said...

This one better?

T.J. said...

Nationals GM Mike Rizzo just prematurely shut down the "GTB" moniker. This is my John Lannan replacement name.

Wow...you've got some blogger skills. I couldn't even figure out how to make a temporary North Brunswick-centric handle.

loved this sentiment from the author, man about town drew magary:

Being an artist is a real bitch because fans always want you to go backward. They want you to recapture a moment of discovery in their lives that can't truly ever be recaptured. And you're supposed to do all of it without sounding repetitive.

what is going on with new handles? where is clarence? what happened to G:TB? i can't handle any more change at the start of the school year . . .

Shut the fuck up, bitch.

What's wrong with football every Thursday night? Sure, it conflicts with Project Runway, but you can watch that anytime On Demand. If tonight's game was played on Sunday I wouldn't be able to watch it unless one of the Jest and Jints were a night game.

Is it just me, or does Matthew Stafford have a tiny bit of a "Corky from Life Goes On" look to him?

I'm rarely one for fantasy football questions...but curious of opinions here: Start RG3 or Vick this week?

T.J. said...

I'm convinced the St. Louis corners are going to play RGIII well this week, so start the dog killer.

T.J. said...

TR, Stafford absolutely looks like he needs to wear a helmet and take the short bus.

T.J. said...

And Clarence...language, man.

zman said...

Vick plays the Ravens, who are very good at football. RG3PO plays the Rams, who are very bad at football. So I would go with RG3.

T.J. said...

Despite the matchups, I am gonna have to disagree with the zman.

We can discuss it on tomorrow morning's show, where our guests will be the ghost of gore vidal and Dick Armey.

Rob, that's a pretty good piece on Bob. He never disappoints live. I've seen him four times. The explosive energy coming out of that man when he plays is amazing to watch.

His best show I've seen was supposed to be a quiet evening with him to watch a then newly released dvd of concert footage around 2007.

He played in a small lounge next the Paradise in Boston. Maybe 150 people there. He played solo for 45 minutes on an acoustic guitar with all this rage and energy. Took a short break and then brought out the electric and wailed for another 45 minutes solo. Around this time he started mixing in old Husker Du tunes. It was weird for him to mention I haven't played this song in 15+ years before this mini tour. It seemed cathartic for him. Then they played the dvd, he took questions afterward and signed stuff like my ipod. Pretty amazing show for $15.

On another musical note, I saw Jesus & Mary Chain earlier this week which brought me back to music I grew up on in the 80's. Loudest show I've seen in a while. And the Reid brothers still really hate each other. The only time the looked at each other or spoke to the other was to tell other they were fucking up. Lot of family love at that show.

One odd thing, to me, was the leader singer wearing a Monkees t-shirt. Sort of the opposite to their style of music.

zman said...

The Jesus and Mary Chain are still touring?! Who'd you go with?

Squeaky said...

They haven't really toured in 14 years. And by the way things were happening on the stage I doubt they tour again after this one for another 14 if they are alive.

JP and my cousins. Usually group.

Ask him how he feels about "Ether." Give him a "Nas Won" tshirt.

Note that I took your question head-on without addressing its preposterousness.

The media is so desperate for something to do for the 4 days between professional football games per week that they have broken records in developing a backlash against RGIII. Some media members have gone the lazy route with the "He'll have his ups and downs", "He is a rookie after all", "The key is consistency" comments. Others used bigger words, complex sentences and metrics to basically say the same thing: that he will have a harder time against the rest of the league. Personally, I think these people just want to sound like they had foreseen all of this when the inevitable rookie moments happen.

I have no expectations for an outing anywhere close to week 1. One game at a time, as I said. However, I think he is being paid a disservice by the talking heads using 4 or 5 still pictures to suggest that they have broken his secret code and that every other team playing him will have done so by the time they meet him, too. Give the guy a little more credit - he's got some tools; seeing it on film and stopping it in a game are worlds apart.

And Geoff, I'd start Vick. No way he lays two colossal stinkers in a row.

Oh Clarence...I will make sure not to offend you next time.
