Happy Boxing Day

From Wikipedia:
Boxing Day is traditionally a day following Christmas when wealthy people and homeowners in the United Kingdom would give a box containing a gift to their servants. Today, Boxing Day is better known as a bank or public holiday that occurs on December 26, or the first or second weekday after Christmas Day, depending on national or regional laws. It is observed in Great Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and some other Commonwealth nations.

Boring. To the fine folks at G:TB, this holiday means lunch at our favorite Boxing Day locale:

Followed by a battle of topless pugilists:

And before our female followers claims we left them out, I imagine this google images gallery can keep you entertained for awhile.

Happy Boxing Day to all...

ASU just got an unsportsmanshiplike conduct penalty?

the heck is happening to the wizards?

I missed the Nets-Bullets game. Did Humphries get booed mercilessly? Will be a fun running sub-plot to this season, watching Humphries eat shit all year and sporting that "I wish I could have done that over again" look on his mug.

Oh, so he went for a 21/16? Maybe the fans didn't get to him too badly.

And it was a decent day for Americans playing football. Clint Dempsey had a huge goal as a substitute to help Fulham draw on the road against Chelsea. Timmy Howard was between the pipes for a 1-1 tie.

the wizards lost that game? can we just go back to the bullets and be done with it?

Like Gilbert did!

I forgot to mention another American prominently involved in a Premier League tie yesterday! Keeper Brad Guzan pulled out the clean sheet against a feisty Stoke City squad.

Pretty ridiculous that there are 3 American keepers either starting or getting decent playing time in the league.

The first day of work after xmas.....the "how was your Christmas" question sided with "did the kids enjoy it" followed by the obligation to reciprocate multiplied by 5+ people annoys me. Am I a penis? And if so, is it because of this ore just in general?

Not for this reason, anyway. The problem is you can't avoid it. Take a couple days off, people will still ask you. Take the week off, and then the conversation morphs into "did you have a good new year's"? Pick your poison...

I'm dealing with the same, Danimal. My family holiday routine is pretty mundane, and I don't care to hear about anybody else's day. We all ate too much, drank too much wine and didn't get enough sleep. No need to share.

I find it odd that the person who gets to run against the incumbent President of the United States will be chosen by a bunch of corn farmers. Also odd: a 6-7 team won our fantasy football league.

Also odd: my train to Penn Station instead went to Hoboken because, according to the conductor, "Penn Station is shut down," but I see nothing about this on the internets.

zman's train has been hijacked!

Did you train conductor have an evil goattee, Z? If so, you were definitely hi-jacked.

And count me in on being annoyed by the 'how was your Xmas?' questions. Like Mayhugh said though, there's really no way to avoid it without being seen as a total asshole.

There were two conductors, both had goatees, one had a large collection of ear piercings. But I arrived at work safe and sound, albeit later than I would like.

Zman, in our league my 8-5-1 record is up against a 7-7 record for the title. The 13-1 and 12-2 teams were knocked out this weekend.

I'm off the rest of the week. So gift returns and drinking are in my future until next Tuesday. Yeah, me.
