ReplyDeleteSomeone on twitter is retweeting several of the GOPers that offered their condolences and usual comments post gun violence but they are adding in the annual contributions said GOPers get from the NRA.
ReplyDeleteRubio got somewhere near $90K from the NRA last year but what really blew my mind was the total he has received from the NRA during his career as a politician. That number is roughly $3.3 million. That's a shit load of lobbying.

ReplyDeleteIt is depressing, literally. Another tweet from Jeff Greenfield last night hit home - in the last 20 years throughout the rest of the world, there have been 18 school shootings. We have had that many since January 1. 2018. I put my kids to bed last night with a tear asking them to think about the parents whose child didn't come home yesterday and the children that did come home but witnessed their friends being killed. Why is that a conversation with my 7-9 year old kids? Oh, never mind.
And to add - we all know there will be many, many, many more tuck-ins with the same damn message. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

ReplyDeleteI played against Douglas High every summer at a team basketball camp when I was in high school. It’s a completely normal suburban high school. And Aron is right, nobody who can do anything substantial about the gun crisis in our country gives a shit. It’s maddening.
