Return to the Isle of Dipshittery

After 13 years of this inanity, we know where our bread is buttered. Here's a musical palate cleanser.

Y'all know how I feel about CHVRCHES. And here's their new single.

I'm a big Justin Timberlake fan, but that Super Bowl halftime show was meh wrapped in the shrugged shoulders emoji. So here's Prince playing Purple Rain in 2007.

Here's a What the Kids Are Listening To drop. My daughter loves Brockhampton. I hope I don't learn that they're some kind of assholes.

And because I had this song in my head for most of the evening, and then heard it on the radio while driving my kids around, which seems like an good omen.

Not to be confused with Return of the Product.

I have keto diet questions. Can I drink coffee--black coffee no sugar no cream (cuz that's the kind of keto diet I want down on my team)? Can I eat as much meat/fruit/vegetables as I want or do I have to keep track of mass ratios? And is this fatty fiber-free diet going to destroy my arteries and colon?

Jazz and AWOL, that's our team
I like my sugar with coffee and cream

And seeing Black Francis/Frank Black back when he had hair is always odd.

You know how I know Brockhampton is cool? They're cool because when I look at them I see a bunch of dopes dressed like Smurfs in Thing 1 and Thing 2 outfits. If I think they're goofy then they must be cool, given my stage in life. Same thing with sticking your ears in your baseball hat.

Z - yes on the coffee. Can even use the sweetener Stevia if you like a little sweetener. Also, can use you plain almond milk.
Yes on the meat and veggies, but they do suggest you go easy on some fruits such as bananas - more carbs and sugars than most.
On the cholesterol question, that was one of my first - the diet does a lot to increase your HDL count, which is the good cholesterol. Much to read on the subject but in short, should be fine. Suggest you have your levels checked pre-diet and then again a few months in.
I should add that keto vs paleo is strict diet vs lifestyle. If keto, you're doing the calorie counting. If Paleo, you're changing your habits. For 30 days or so I'm doing something in-between with the plan of losing 10-15 and then transitioning to a less strict way of life and maintaining.

I've done Whole30 with my wife a couple of times, which is somewhat similar. The last time I ended up as a regular coffee drinker again, just cause I could have it. I started putting ghee (butter w/o milk solids) in my morning brew, which makes it nice and greasy. Now I can't stop!

Coffee and cream is fine. Many low-fat milks add sugar, so beware.

Some keto gurus frown on Stevia. Some don’t. There are a million other nuances as well: Are you counting calories? Are you doing intermittent fasting? Are you consuming exogenous ketones? Are you snacking, or are you sticking to 2-3 meals? Do you think Quest bars are safe? It can get overwhelming.

I think a smart way to start keto is to mentally unlearn all the nonsense you were taught, find some meals/snacks you can stock at home (olive oil, salmon, beef, cheese, eggs, salad fixings, nuts, etc), prepare to lose booze for a while, and give it a shot. I gave up most sugar for a week before going full keto and that was an odd feel. Major withdrawal.

Brockmire > Brockhampton

Brockmire is so good. Anyone checked out Wormwood on Netflix? Hearing about it on today's Intercepted and it sounds great.

Today's highlight: took the day off and saw The Parisian Woman with zwoman. Uma Thurman briefly bared a breast.

Today's lowlight: I let loose what I thought was a fart but instead was less gaseous and more liquid, while driving home on the Turnpike. I felt bad all afternoon and should have known this was a gamble I'd lose.

So I saw Uma Thurman topless in person, then I shat myself. I guess I broke even on the day.

I saw 1.5 episodes of Wormwood, then stopped. Topic is fascinating, but I was turned off by the visual style they chose - lots of unnecessary things like camera tricks, animation, repetitive clips, etc. I’m usually not fussy about that kinda stuff, but it was too much. Then again, it is a story about dudes being unknowingly dosed.

Going to band practice in a minute. May make a new song called 'Sharted on the Jersey Turnpike' just for fun.

On the topic of LSD, pour some out for JP Barlow, the writer behind a lot of Bobby Weir’s biggest Dead songs.

co-sign shlara’s endorsement of the quincy jones interview. it makes bonkers look pedestrian.

cosine?

Barlow was a good interviewee in the Dead documentary.
