We have a logo. rob and his tireless colleagues at the North Pole are hastily silk-screening this image onto t-shirts as I type. It is, of course, a parody of Shepard Fairey's famous "Andre the Giant Has A Posse" sticker which was ubiquitous on New Jersey high school lockers, bathroom walls, skateboard decks, and Garden State Parkway toll booths in the early 1990s. In case you weren't fortunate enough to grow up in New Jersey in the 1990s ...

anyone else watch about 12 episodes of the wire over the wkd? just me? that feeling you get when finishing a series in combo with w/Tuesday after holiday = serious case of the weirdo's.
Took zson to our favorite fishing hole for the first time this year and caught a (small) fish with the first cast. zson took this to mean that I am capable of catching fish at will and the water was so clear that we could see lots of fish. Taken together, zson decided that he would point out specific fish for me to catch, which I cannot do. He was disappointed, although we did catch another larger bluegill. I did, however, see a bunch of smallmouth bass splashing around near a log so I cast in their direction and our cheap line decided to snap on that cast, sending all of my terminal tackle on a kamikaze mission to the log. A bass immediately took the worm, dragging our bobber all over the place while zson and I held our heads and wailed "That's my fish!" for a few minutes until we decided to call it a day.
Nice connection of Gheorghe to Andre the Giant, the man Gheorghe's character in My Giant was loosely based on. My Giant, which pretty much ended Gheorghe's NBA career and Billy Crystal's film career.
"MY GIANT TRIVIA - The character Lilliana is also the name of Gheorghe Muresan's wife. The character's name was originally 'Angelica' but they changed it to accommodate Gheorghe, who said when he talks of love he thinks of his wife."

did I ever tell you guys that the family of a long-time co-worker here sold their home in NC to Andre? they came to know him quite well and remained friends after the fact.
Carey Elwes' book, As You Wish (which I believe I picked up after a GTB plug), has some good stories about Andre, and not all of them about how much he could drink (but yes, there are some of those). There is a fairly poignant one involving Andre, Rob Reiner and farts.
Like Skid Row, I grew up "in the gutters of NJ," but I have to admit that I have never seen that sticker before. And low-life Jersey and pro wrestling are both very much in my wheelhouse.
love the logo, but those andre stickers were ubiquitous? i love that word but how did i miss them? i will tell you what WAS ubiquitous during that time period: the phrase "unemployed . . . in Greenland"
and "never go in against a sicilian when death is on the line!"
Maybe it was a northern NJ thing.
Those stickers were in the DC area as well. Obey the Gheorghe!
